Many in the Empire where replaceable. But there is always a reason the replacement did not get the rank in question in the first place.

There's another thing people are ignoring is Sobeck, the bastard who got many Clone Troopers slaughtered in brutal ways and sadistically tortured a Jedi and planned on doing the same thing to more is no hero. He's not even trying to save the anybody. It's pure spite, simple as that. It doesn't matter if the guy he tried to kill did horrible things in the future. Nobody knew what he would do, not even Sobeck. I hate that people are trying to make Sobeck into a blameless victim.
