I feel propeat is one of the FEW marketed fertilizers I can trust. Small, homogeneous prills w peat moss. Nothing fancy, what you see is what you get and I respect that. Hey your lawn is looking excellent, Im curious how summer will treat you.. here in Illinois my lawn is toast already:((((
I totally agree, not fancy frills or big claims and it uses ingredients we all know. PLUS NO POOP people or animal! Summer has been on and off here we have had 5 or 6 mid to high 90s days but the rye is holding in there just fine so far so only time will tell!
Thank you brother. I was going a little nuts with those calculations for granular and liquid, plus you are the only lawn RUclipsr that addressed the spreader setting issue. Everyone else doesn't talk about that. Just subscribed. Thanks again
Nice! I went to Great Basin Turf to buy some ProPeat & the guy immediately asked if I was watching the “Ginja”. I just spoon fed some ProPeat to my newly seeded lawn. My lawn might have some bare patches but it’s the darkest green lawn on the street. Once the lawn fills in it’ll be time to dominate the Joneses!
It's legit man! I'm loving it! Plus all the haters told me "rye won't ever get that dark green like kbg" but look how dark it is and how much nicer it looks even just the color than the rest of the neighborhood!
Yeah I've really started to lean more toward spoon feeding only, no more spikes of highs and lows. Just a constant feeding keeping everything level and happy!
Solid video, Brett! Glad I stumbled upon it. Just downloaded the Turf Therapy app for easy maths and am now super curious about ProPeat's products. I think once I'm out of N-Ext goodies, I'll give them a shot!
Hey Brett, I just finished my bag of Anderson's PGF 16-0-8. I just ordered a bag of the Pro peat from your link. I plan to spoon feed as you do. Don't mind trying a little of everything since I'm sure it's all good. Thanks again for the video. 🇺🇸⛳🇺🇸
@@Brettsgrasscapades Crazy insane fast shipping. Ordered yesterday and delivered today. Was not expecting that. Wow. Time to apply some to the backyard before we get that expected rain. 👍🏻
I should have filmed my before and after application of 17-0-4 ProPeat. I absolutely love the results of my spoon feeding on my TTTF. Your lawn is definitely booming Brett. Looking forward to your summer updates and videos. 💪
Ammonium Sulfate (especially spoon feeding) is the only way to go if color is important to you especially come cold temperatures (but also iron uptake). New lawn (and custom dirt) for me planted late fall (Hatrick & Pangea Perrenial Rye... I almost did Barrenbrug RPR but noticed it wasn't nearly as dark in the spreading portion of the mix so every repair would lack color... if I wanted stolens over color I'd plant poa!). Anyway, I started on starter fert and then spoon fed Scotts, Knorr water soluble, Peter's water soluble, etc... then I put down about 0.15#N of ProPEAT 13-5-8. 1 week later, very dark green like I hadn't seen before for the new lawn and I literally had a neighbor writing things down as quick as she could, and way more neighbors taking interest since the color stands out so much. After I applied the ProPEAT I noticed that Ginja mentioned "Ammoniacal Nitrogen" and especially The Grass Factor saying he's loving the results of Ammonia Sulfate and that he strongly prefers it to Urea sources due to it's availability and efficiency and much higher iron uptake into the plant. The Grass Factor is king for the science of things on RUclips and I'm not a huge fan of Lawncology (blasphemy) due to the available studies out there. 13.5.8 Greens Grade is what I currently have, but after my Winter soil test, come Spring, I'll be more likely to be feeding the 17.0.4 and also the 10.0.10 flavor and I might switch to the Carbon90 ProPEAT line to see what happens but the difference there should be subtle if any and might just be a branding detail they are trying. My strategy 2022 is pretty close to zero humic acid (See The Grass Factor's recent video on Humic), some BioChar DG at about 4# annually for now, and ProPEAT as my primary fertilizer going forward! For micros I didn't realize the quality difference from one brand to the next in chelation technology and the best product I've found so far is Peter's Water Soluble "Jack's Nutrients" (all Peter's products have premium micros but Jack's Nutrients is much higher ratios), and I'm mixing my own foliar iron chelated in EDTA and PH buffered to about 6.25 to give iron a little extra attention... I'm not sure if the better quality iron source is doing anything but my soil temps are pretty low right now so I'm curious how the iron detail will go in Spring/Summer/Fall... I'm guessing my ammonium sulfate strategy will essentially have my iron intake maxed out anyway for health, so I actually might stop applying liquid iron all together which is quite a curve ball for a color fanatic. Anyway, I 100% agree w/ results of ProPEAT and since discovering Ammonium Sulfate based fertilizers I haven't seen a lawn (in my area) that has my color beat since. The other fertilizers used had the advantage of higher soil temps... I applied the ProPEAT around 40 degrees soil temps and still the difference in color vs. Scotts or water soluble options was notable to say the least and the color has stayed there quite well because the carbon and nature of peat moss acts as a slow release as well as a soil conditioner. When I bought the ProPEAT it was a front lawn only type of thing, but I just put it on my non-reel mowed back yard also as my Witerizer application. I'm a believer, and The Grass Factor goes into why I got my Winter results in his Ammonium Sulfate video. Kudo's to ProPEAT for being willing to spend the money on ammonium sulfate. My larger back yard is likely to get the Scott's Fall bag until my stock is gone (really nice prills, cheap, urea) then I'm likely to be spreading the good stuff even back there despite the larger size of 6,000 sq ft. One related note: love the control of the SOLO brand chest mount spreader... feels kinda stupid at first, but there's much more control vs. any other spreader I've used and consistent perfect coverage every time and so much faster to use vs. other spreaders and I think the higher drop height and better visual read also beats using a typical spreader... get one! 20# max. I can easily put quality granular fertilizers down at very low rates if I want and I'm done in a matter of minutes which makes spoon feeding so easy since the SOLO chest mount spreader. Also, FlowZone w/ quick change TeeJet's is pretty slick but not as valuable since largely bailing on Humic Acid, but great for micros. I had a Milwaukee sprayer before and that thing was absolute garbage compared to the FlowZone and FlowZone's TeeJet quick connect kits are cheap and easy. Significantly higher iron uptake with ammonium sulfate vs. other nitrogen sources... also, unlike urea and organic, AS is instantly available nitrogen for predictable results and more efficient uptake... I'm all about that color and ironically it's likely better for the environment than other options. Couldn't stop staring at the front lawn after applying ProPEAT the first time. I returned my bag of BarrenBrug RPR, but that lawn is still looking great! Ginja almost sabotaged my efforts by nudging me that way... to do my lawn again, that Pangea is hard to beat, so I might not be overseeding as much Hatrick come Spring despite that best NTEP color... I'd say the Pangea is superior overall. If that yard were Pangea rather than the BarrenBrug I could only imagine, but it is still looking killer! Unrelated... I have an Allett Stirling 20" on the first container! Super glad I didn't buy the Swardman.
Lawn is insanely nice. Love the 🇺🇸 shot. I may start to spoon feed since I always feel the need to be out in the yard. Gotta get a powered reel if i want to take it to the next level. Great video Brett, thanks for posting.

@@pkn920 I don't have a professional spreader so I would think that applying small quantities of granular fert would be difficult in that you have to apply that small amount evenly over the entire lawn. Bags of fert that I've seen don't give you a spreader setting for a 1/4 or 1/8 app rate
