    I came on early January, I couldn't see anything on the observation deck it was cloudy with temperature -12 C, but the forest around it was stunning, and the view while riding the ropeway was magnificent. It was also snowing. I love it. Best place I have ever been in Japan.

    We had the opportunity to be at this top platform on good weather but did not stop at the mid station tho. Reminds us of the views we get in Switzerland too. Great video with great information about the onsen which we always use whenever we travel to Japan.

    Hi! What is the name of the onsen you mentioned in your video? I am interested in doing onsen but shy and also will be going with my teenage daughter so having clothes to cover would be a good option. I did not catch the name of the onsen and also do we bring our own bathing suit or there are some for hire? Thanks.

    • @Japanesquest
      @Japanesquest  5 лет назад

      It is Shinhotaka-No-Yu. Here you go! goo.gl/maps/i8zRsbMRvwrfYWFv5
      It is basically a natural outdoor onsen. So no staff will be there. You need to bring all thethings you need :)

    We've already booked a night at a ryokan in Hirayu Onsen (halfway between Takayama and Shinhotaka) so we might as well squeeze this trip in before going on towards Shirakawago and Kanazawa, right?

    This is amazing. I will be in takayama in early April so is this looks like it worth the day trip!!! Also, it looks like you’re using a drone while at the observatory deck.! That is possible? Because I will bring mine

    • @Japanesquest
      @Japanesquest  6 лет назад +1

      Flying a drone at the deck is frowned upon (and probably not allowed). There are walking trails nearby. I went down there and shot the deck from distance :)

    • @Japanesquest
      @Japanesquest  6 лет назад +1

      Takayama and surroundings are great places to legally fly a drone. Hope you capture good footage :)

    Does JTB 2 day pass cover Shinhotaka Ropeway?

  • @jessical7083
    @jessical7083 6 лет назад

    loving your vids! please tell me - does the bus stop directly near the cable car ticketing and boarding? what bus did u take please? was it a public bus?
    coz I saw another video where they had to HIKE up to the entrance!

    • @Japanesquest
      @Japanesquest  6 лет назад

      Yes, the bus goes right next to the cable are station. There is only one bus company "Nohi bus" running buses between Shinhotaka and Takayama. Below is the details.
      www.nouhibus.co.jp/route_bus/shinhotaka-line-en/
      Like I said in the video, JTB ticket offers better value. JTB is in partnership with the Nohi Bus, so you will take Nohi bus anyway.

    Hi Yusuke san. Is the Shin Hotaka area accessible in Winter, and if so, is it worth going, or would the weather make it too difficult for a day trip?
    Also, how much does the crowds fluctuate on Weekends vs Weekdays? If we go to this, it will probably be on a Sunday.

    • @Japanesquest
      @Japanesquest  6 лет назад +1

      Oh it is beautiful in winter too. You can check the photos of each season from the link below.
      shinhotaka-ropeway.jp.e.uk.hp.transer.com/season/
      It is easily accessible by bus and rope-way in winter too. Must visit on a SUNNY DAY though :)
      Weekends, there may be a bit more people, but not gonna be too crowded :)

      @@Japanesquest we are planning mar20-mar30 this year. Will there be any snowfall? We want to enjoy our first snow experience. Is there any other high altitude places you can suggest?

  • @jessical7083

    may I know how long the walk is to the onsen and how much did you pay?
    also how do I get the bus from onsen back to takayama? is bus stop right at the onsen? thanks.

    • @Japanesquest
      @Japanesquest  6 лет назад

      Onsen itself is free, but there is a donation box that kindly asks around 300 yen. It is for preserving the Onsen.
      The walk from Nabedaira station to Shinhotaka-No-Yu is about 40-50 minutes. You can also take the bus to Shinhotaka-No-Yu since it is located between the Shinhotaka Ropeway station and Takayama. The bus stop's name is "Nakaokoharaguchi "
      Map: goo.gl/maps/iofMVwP8cF92
      WIth the JTB ticket, you can hop on and off the bus as many times as you want!

      +Japanesquest thanks for the info but I am so sad that onsen closes from October 31st! I wanted to come in Nov - which other "swimsuit" onsen would be open then? so sad........

    • @Japanesquest
      @Japanesquest  6 лет назад

      The JTB ticket includes 1 return ticket for both No.1 and No.2 ropeways (cable cars).
      If you wanna ride it more than one time, you pay extra and you can take as many cable cars as you want. Below is the price.
