Matthew Lillard who played Stu in the first movie, actually had two voiceovers in this movie. The first was as the Ghostface with the blowtorch in Stab 8 and he also says “cool house” at the party towards the end of the movie.
Tom’s response about Billy is correct. Skeet came onto set and did those scenes, and was de-aged through editing. Skeet was not the only one in this movie. Matthew lillard, drew Barrymore and Jamie Kennedy have cameos.

I think they made the kills way more realistic, all the other kills are over dramatized whereas the kills in this are just straight up frightening as they exceed expectations

So many people have been confused with the whole Billy story line thinking hes portraying as a ghost or someone with redeeming qualities. Which wasn't the case I liked the idea that she was taking medication because she was having hallucinations of her father and the pills started to ware off were it was working anymore. This was her dealing with the fact that he is her father and afraid of turning into him. But in order for her to go into survival mode she had to accept of being his daughter and let that in instead of burying it. We were watching her dealing with her mental health and demons. They can do a lot with it in the upcoming Scream movies where she can still use that part of her to survive OR it can make her snap into becoming like her father. Kind of like how different killers have tried to make Sidney snap mentally due to past trauma but she always over came it instead. So they could take it into a opposite direction for Sam as the main final girl and actually make her snap. Billy as a hallucination was also a call back to Scream when he tells Sidney "It's like Jodie Foster in The Silence of the Lambs, when she keeps having flashbacks of her dead father".
Even though he died and that sucks, I do like how often this movie gave props to Dewey. His bravery over the course of all the movies is often underrated.
The "For Wes!" line was definitely for Wes Craven. A nice little Easter egg. Also, did you catch that they showed that Kirby from Scream 4 is still alive? I adore Scream 4, but I thought this film did a better job at doing what Scream 4 was trying to do in establishing a new generation to take on the franchise. We don't get to the first legacy character in this film (Dewey) until about 40 minutes in and spend a lot of time getting to know the new cast who each have unique characters (especially the survivors). I thought the new cast was so strong that I could plausibly see the next Scream film not having any legacy characters and moving forward with just these new cast members. And maybe since Kirby is still alive she comes back as a next gen "legacy" character.
But Scream 4 was never about establishing a new generation, it was about making you think that, subverting that expectation, and then all fresh blood wound up dead (or left for dead in Kirby's case), with the "new" Sidney being the villain, and only the three originals left yet again + the cop that was Sidney's classmate , hence, "Don't f*** with the original". It was genius.
Big ups to Jenna Ortega for holding the film down for me ! I feel like everyone loves Scream on some level and so I feel like everyone is generally pleased. I loved when she went Full Loomis 😂 it was great. I was glad to see that they didn’t over use Sydney and Gale but had them there. Just as meta as the others, loved how far they went with continuing Stab existing, and all the nods to Wes Craven throughout the film. Anyway, I was waiting for this video and you gents didn’t disappoint!!
As much as it saddens me that Dewey was killed. It was kind of poetic for him though he saved Sams little sister where he wasn't able to save Tatum. Also, it makes since for Dewey to be the first legacy character to die out of the three. It gave us a chance to continue watching the Gale/Sidney arc. Dewey's death brought them together and to work as a actual team. Their relationship has grown a lot since the first Scream. Sidney/Dewey always had that Brother/sister relationship and Dewey/Gale always had the on and off again relationship. But Sidney and Gale were never close they always had Dewey as the middle person. With Dewey being gone it gives them that chance. So many have a issue of believe that Amber could kill Dewey because of being a teenage girl and due to her size. When someone is that psychotic they have crazy amount of strength. Doctors at mental institutes have a hard time handling some of their patients when they go full mental rage. Dewey was doing good with hand on hand contact. Then he went back and got distracted by his phone ringing. That's the only reason Amber was able to get the upper hand cause he was off guarded and shes really swift. Also, don't forget Dewey has nerve damage/limp, in his 50's, is a drinker now, hasn't stayed active at all and depression. He wasnt exactly in a good mental state at all. He knew he wouldn't be able to handle it this time around and wasn't going to but after talking with Sidney he changed his mind and tried to help. Also, the way ghostface was with Sam on the phone trying to make her choose between Tara and Ritchie that's something Amber would do. It was her way of proving that Sam was "selfish" and doesn't care about her sister. Ghostface that attacked Tara in the hospital was the same person who attacked her in the open scene. Ghostface told Samantha while trying to force her to choose he was threatening that this time he won't miss all of the major organs like the last time. So Amber attacked her both of those times.
Amber is the GF that's alot more stab happy and aggressive, Richie is the GF who does one stab and he's done. Dewey's kill was also abit of a reference to Ghostface's execution in Cold War. I want Stu to come back, but I want him to come back in a more redeeming role, where maybe he saves Sidney, even dying tosave her maybe.
Honestly I don't want them to redeem Stu, but also I don't want him to directly be the killer again. An idea could be that maybe while in prison (or on the run if he managed to somehow escape at the end of the first movie) he trained another killer to take his place (maybe he's in poor health after the immense amount of damage he received and can no longer do the killing himself). The characters could even notice that the killer is very similar to Stu, and maybe they go find him or something. Have him even help the main characters try to stop the killer, just for the end reveal to show that he was in on it the whole time. You could even do the classic "partner kills other partner" twist by having Stu kill the new ghostface, which could connect to the poor health theory. His motive is wanting to go on another killing spree, but he couldn't do it himself, but he also didn't want the other kid to get the credit. A more in depth part of the motive could be to prove that he was better than Billy, since Billy got most of the credit for the original killings. It'd also be cool if he kills Sidney. Sidney is the one character no one expects to die, and I feel like killing her before Gale would be a huge twist and great moment. He could have a line about how he learned from his first killing spree to not dilly dally around killing the final girl (because they fully had the chance to kill her in that kitchen scene, but they took too long explaining their motives and plan). I feel like Stu is the only way they can kill Sidney. You can't have a random new character kill the original movies final girl, you have to have an important character do it. If Stu doesn't do it, no one ever will, and to me, that's boring. I like Sidney, but 6 movies with her in it is pushing it a little hard
I didn’t like the de ageing cause I didn’t know it was him til afterward. I mean I couldn’t recognize him cause I was use to how he looked like with the beard
I was so upset when Dewey died to the point of tears. It still really bums me out but I get why it had to happen. Ironic that they ended up making his death the most cruel due to the fact he was supposed to die in the original film. But they changed their minds because the audience loved his character.

The characters were watching Dawson’s creek on tv. Kevin Williamson, the guy who created and wrote scream 1,2,& 4 is who Dawson’s creek is loosely based on. A teen from a small town who dreamed of going to Hollywood and making horror movies. There is usually a Dawson’s creek reference or actor in scream movies, because he made it.
Love the reaction, and yup, this is the one I've been waiting for 😆 I'm just really excited for Scream 6 because they've announced that Hayden Panettiere will be in it, even though we thought Kirby was dead- guess she's not. Super stoked because Kirby was my favorite character in Scream 4

I just realized, after watching this through myself as well as several reaction videos, Stab is paused when Mindy is being attacked by Ghostface. So what, Mindy took a moment to pause her favorite movie before lurching off the couch away from a serial killer? That's dedication.
A friend of mine went to cinema with a group of people and after it ended one of the group stormed out of cinema and started stamping his feet and raging "They're laughing at us!" in street to the point random passersby started asking the rest of the group if he was okay. I didn't see it till home release so I had no idea it was about toxic fandom when I heard that story but I'm guessing it hit the mark if it scored that reaction. Great reaction guys. Hope if you've never seen 'Chopper' (2000) that'll turn up here one day, I've seen it about 25 times and it never gets old.
Scream 6 will follow Terra and her sister now, with Sidney and Gail helping. The movie makers have to know that they need a new target for future films, while still paying homage to the past. This movie was the first step in that.
Oh hells, YES! 🖤 I was 9 years old when this came out and have loved following the series through my childhood. (I've always loved scary movies!) I graduated High School 6 years before Scream 4 came out. This movie was excellent! I ugly cried when Dewey died and ugly cried harder when Gale showed up. 😭😭😭 Oh and, Drew Barrymore is the voice of the Principal in this movie!
I'm with Tom, Scream 4 is massively underrated. In terms of story-telling Wes was just much better than Radio Silence, and it shows even with Scream 3's lackluster script, that movie still feels more fun than Scream 5.
Yeah, the new movie won't age well. That's the thing about 3 and 4, they aged spectacularly well. There are so many things about the 3rd and 4th movies that were shockingly ahead of their time, even with some shaky ideas. Things didn't work out with Brad Pitt for "Jennifer Jolie" (the cheating scandal happened 5 years later), the Harvey Weinstein / casting couch thing, etc. and Scream 4's commentary on social media and vlogging your whole life when that movie was being filmed just before Vidcon became a thing.

You both have valid points: Scream 2022 is indeed amazing and has achieved the feat of reinvigorating the franchise. I don't agree with Shi that it won't age well: I think toxic fandom will continue to be a thing just as it has been for decades. 2022 is also generally just a very well-written movie. That said, it's unnecessary for you to go on about Scream 4 being a flop. Yep, it didn't do well at the box office, but thankfully modern consensus is that it was indeed a movie way ahead of its time, and if you venture onto Reddit or other sites you'll find Scream 4 has had a massive and very much deserved resurgence in popularity from new viewers just like Tom.

Wait near the end Shaun was saying he doesn’t like Scream 4’s motive about wanting to be famous and have social media fans love you and Tom says it was fitting for when the film came out and then Shaun said but not now and it didn’t stand the test of time…guys if anything Jill was AHEAD of her time cause back then wanting social media popularity wasn’t that hot of a topic as opposed to now. Nowadays the saying “clout is one hell of a drug” is ridiculously true and I believe people would even kill for it. Cardi B and Offset even have a song “Clout” y’all should listen to it. I think the motive is very relevant and smart, Wes and Jill were ahead of the trends back then and honesty all Scream films have good motives, even 5’s which is very relevant right now as well.
I completely AGREE. I was so disappointed when Stu wasn’t in this one. I also have been saying there is always time for him to come back. But everyone is getting older. That time is closing fast. If their was a time for him to be the killer this would have been it the story line would have matched perfectly

Stab 8 is the bad Stab film that triggers Amber and Richie into killing, and its cannon that Rian Johnson directer Stab 8 which is reference to him directing Star Wars 8 (The Last Jedi). In the credits, there is a special thanks to Rian Johnson. My issue with it being because of toxic fans, its clearly aiming or taking inspiration from the toxic Star Wars fandom, which isn't a horror franchise. I am excited for Kirby to come back! And the Tatum's urn/memorial thing in Dewey's home was so sweet to see, I loved seeing him save Tara like he couldn't save Tatum.
Fun Facts: 1. The Original Scream cast did voice overs Drew Barrymore (Casey Becker) was the principal on the intercom in the beginning. Also, Matthew Lillard (Stu) was the one in the RUclips channel doing the medal ghostface voice and at the party he's the one that said " Cool house" to Amber when she was walking through. Jamie Kennedy (Randy) was the one that made the comment about the "some goofy ass dad is here kicking everone out". Hayden (Kirby), principal Himbry and others from the franchise were part of the "For Wes" when they cheered. 2. Also on that RUclips channel the first clip on the side of the screen it was a Easter egg that confirmed Kirby survived from Scream 4. It was her doing a interview about being a survivor. Then below hers there's another clip asking if Stu Macher is still alive or not lol. Kirby and Stu had been a HUGE debate with the fans whether or not they both survived. So they confirmed it with Kirby but with Stu they gave us a teaser. 3. When Chad picked up the candle stick as a weapon it was reference to when Sidney grabbed a candle stick in Scream 3 to defend herself with. 4. I don't know if you caught it or not but in Dewey's trailer he has Tatums ashes next to his gun box. 5. Sidneys husband Mark is Detective Mark Kincaid from Scream 3. 6. Wes Hicks Kill Scene where he closed the front door. No one told Dylan that ghostface would be behind him in that scene so his reaction to it was legit lol. 7. Even though Mindy said to Wes about his mom being safe but yet they got killed anyways. Two reasons: 1st is they killed the Sherrif and her son as a decoy/distraction to lure the cops away from the hospital their main target was Tara. 2nd reason they killed off Wes who is a reference for "Wes Craven" it was there way of having a memorial for Wes Craven in the movie. He died after he made the 4th so this one was like a love letter to him 8. At the hospital when GF appeared behind Richie he got his arm sliced similar to when Jill got hers sliced by GF.
I love that Dennis Quaid & Meg Ryan’s kid is in everything now! Like I remember when they got together and when Jack was born, I’m so freakin old!! Like I still remember occasionally seeing the paparazzi getting photos of them out when he was a toddler lol.
During the scene where the new cast is sitting outside before they go to the hospital to see Tara, I found it interesting that Amber is saying Tara fought back hard. As far as it is shown, Tara is just now waking up and only she and perhaps the police would know what happened at the house, aside from the killer. Also the video sent to Tara just confirmed to me that Amber was involved in the whole set up. I liked this movie and Scream 4 is not as bad as everyone is saying. It's campy, yes, but the Scream franchise is on a tier of its own and I'd say they're all in the pretty damn good horror/slasher movies, when compared to every other horror/slasher film ever made. Sam takes after her father like he took after his Momma, who probably takes after her dad and so on. ...I cried for Dewey. Ugly cried. #ForWes
I think Scream 6 is going to be a Ghostface trying to tie up loose ends, IE going after all survivors from the previous attacks, hence Kirby being back, and the possibility of Stu being back (who I’m convinced will be the opening kill) it would be a refreshing take on the franchise where its someone trying to stop it all rather than continue it!
If they bring Stu back I hope he is either the killer or a red herring throughout. Think would be a waste to kill him at the start. Think bringing back Patrick Dempsey for the opening kill would be good. Would give a big name opening death and set up the premise of attacking the survivors.
I enjoyed the film but preferred the director's previous movie 'Ready or Not' instead. I thought 'Ready or Not' was a better-crafted movie overall with the Plot, Casting, Dialogue & Direction. I loved Jenna Ortega's performance as Tara, especially in the opening scene and thought she blew the actress playing Sam out of the water for the rest of the movie ( I wish she'd been the main girl). I'm looking forward to seeing Jenna in her new movie 'X' directed by Ti West (which I've heard really good things about) when it releases on Blu-ray in a few weeks. Maybe you guys can do a reaction to it in the future.

It goes further with the Star wars connection. The movie that got the fans riled up is the 8th in the franchise directed by Rian Johnson. They only refer to him as "the Knives Out guy" but yeah.
Yes I was waiting for this!! Even thou I figured out who the killer was. I am tired of the same cliche they used from the other films. Jenna Ortega did an amazing job playing the screaming girl for this generation. I think next movie she'll play a bigger part since she's growing into other projects. I rate this movie a 7/10
Same,, they made it feel like they were doing the cliche stuff to be meta but it wasnt as clever as sid saying some dumb girl going up the stairs kinda thing. Here everything was so predictable.

Was great the movie. Has again huge potential for more movies due to the split personality. I hope Billy stays with us for a while. A serial killer daughter who hunts for serial killers. Maybe she's chasing herself and doesn't know. So many possibilities. Scream will be interesting again. After parts 1 and 2, I set this part with part 2 for the application.
I like it, a serial killer daughter who has a has something to prove that she's not a killer. That can be a massive chip on her shoulder just because of who her dad is, ends up killing the ghost face copycats because like the quote"don't fuck with the original"
I'm very late with this comment, but I only recently put it together that Deputy Judy Hicks is played by the same actress who played Wendy Peffercorn in The Sandlot.
The scene where Tara was watching TV in her hospital room before her attack. She was watching Dawson's Creek it was a tv series in the late 90's that Kevin Williamson also wrote for. He wrote for Scream, Scream 2, originally Scream 3 till they had to change the story and another writer came in and then he wrote Scream 4. Well Scott Foley who played Roman in Scream 3 as Sidneys half brother he was a recurring role in the 1st season of Dawson's Creek and that episode she was watching was a Friday of the 13th kind of episode when Dawson would pull pranks on his friends. In that same episode they had a killer on the loose near their hometown that had a similar M.O as Scream 96. That was the last episode Scott Foley was in on Dawson's Creek before he left to go film Scream 3

I’m so gutted that Dewey got killed off, first Randy now Dewey! Can’t we have a male survive for once ?! Saying that though he got a great bad ass death and that’s the most you can ask for in a horror movie, “its an honour” arghh it makes me rage but I love it at the same time 🤣
I’m genuinely hoping he comes back in 6 and admits he was who killed Dewey at the very least, ‘it’s an honour’ just rang stu for me , everyone talks about Billy being the sole killer and forget about Stu, I could fully see him getting peed off by that and come back and kill one of the OG3 which Billy never managed neither has any of the other killers in any other movie. That would be a big one for him to finally get people to take him seriously after all these years. I know someone will attack me and mention the tv and stab wounds but Tara should have also died from her many injuries and many additional injuries but she also made it 🤷🏼♀️ I just wanna see Matthew on screens again he’s amazing , Skeet was a great surprise so Matthew would be fantastic & he’s not been shy in admitting he believes stu is alive and could come back 🤞🏻😊
As someone who was there for every scream movie on opening night at the movies, I was there for this one. I liked it but the motive was so weak and ambers “if I talk really loud and do the crazy eyes” do you believe I’m psycho over the top was too much. Stu’s house did not feel like Stu’s house from the first movie. It felt like a studio set box house like they had in scream 3. And I refuse to believe this 100lb girl, no matter how psycho she is, was able to stab a taller man front and back and cut up through muscle and tissue. That would be hard as hell to do for anyone. And she overpowered him? Come on now. I did absolutely love Tara and I am rooting for her to be the final girl. The ambiguous ending with Sam leaves you wondering if she’ll go either way. Go back to normal life or be a killer like her dad. There were a couple of key shots that were mirrored from the first scream. When Sam is killing Ritchie, there’s a moment where the camera focuses on the knife in the air and how it’s been held by Sam. It’s the exact same shot, same way it’s been held by billy when he’s killing Casey in the first movie. The overkill of Ritchie. That’s not final girl, that’s future daddy daughter serial killing team, hence why I think Tara will be the new final girl. When it shows Sam wiping the blade off after she kills Ritchie she swipes it with her hand like billy did. We always get a flash of ghostface before credits roll, this time it was ghostface wiping the blade off like we had just seen Sam do, foreshadowing? And I’m so stoked Kirby is back in the 6th movie! And the for Wes at the end, you can hear birds, Wes was an avid bird watcher. The directors added that which was extremely touching.

I don't know if you noticed but on the laptop, on RUclips they confirmed that Kirby is alive!! Dewey's death always makes me cry, him dying was needed in my opinion though. It felt like the trio was untouchable, so they showed us that no one is safe. Though I don't think Sydney will ever die, per Cravens wishes. It was a new movie while also being a scream movie, it was easily one of my favorites! For me with this movie it's 1, 4, 5, 2 then 3. I think. I move 4 and 5 back and forth a lot depending on the mood lol. They might as well be tied.

As well you’ll notice in the scene Sam was attacked in the hospital that only SHE moved chairs and tables! There’s a rumour she was the 3rd killer and that the attack in the hospital was her mind playing tricks on her because she was unstable after finding out Billy was her dad
I hope Stu doesn't come back. Even if he survived getting a TV dropped on his head and being electrocuted, why was he never mentioned again? I feel like they would've have atleast mentioned that he is in prison or something.
And, in case you missed it... when Richie is at the hospital or hotel(can't remember which), he's surfing Bloody Disgusting's RUclips channel about the Stab series. To the side, one of the recommended videos is titled "Interview with Woodsboro Survivor Kirby Reed". So, Kirby from Scream 4 did survive, and she will return for Scream 6.
My ranking would currently be: Scream 1: 8,2 Scream 5: 7,9 Scream 2: 7,8 Scream 4: 7,7 Scream 3: 7,0 I REALLY loved the sisters Tara and Sam, Sam being Billy's daughter, and thought Sam was an amazing final girl. I liked both Richie and Amber as the killers as well, they were a solid and very formidable team that genuinely seemed to work well together without betrayals and backstabbing etc. The OG trio was amazing of course, Dewey's death was as heartbreaking and tragic as it should have been... The kills and attacks were horrifyingly brutal, and as such what I want from a Scream movie. All in all the movie left me excited for the next movie and waning to see more of the new characters who survived this one, and there is no higher praise I could offer than that. 5, 2 and 4 are so close that their spot in the ranking may go back and forth as time goes on, but I love them all and that feels good to say!
I immediately was on top of one of the killers but couldn't yet figure out if there was a second one or not. Meanwhile my brother - who didn't see the movie - told me it was 'the second character that appears on screen after the opening' before I left to go to the cinema. And that psychic was damn right... It would've been so awesome if they caught one of the Ghostfaces early on in the movie. I'd like to hear a Scream like that.
The Hallucinations of "Billy Loomis" was the same actor Skeet Ulrich. They used the de-aging to get as close as possible to how he looked in the first Scream.
Matthew Lillard who played Stu in the first movie, actually had two voiceovers in this movie. The first was as the Ghostface with the blowtorch in Stab 8 and he also says “cool house” at the party towards the end of the movie.
He was also in Scream 2 during the sorority house party by the pool talking with some people.
Drew is the one who gave the school announcement and i think Henry had a part. Not sure

So many people have been confused with the whole Billy story line thinking hes portraying as a ghost or someone with redeeming qualities. Which wasn't the case I liked the idea that she was taking medication because she was having hallucinations of her father and the pills started to ware off were it was working anymore. This was her dealing with the fact that he is her father and afraid of turning into him. But in order for her to go into survival mode she had to accept of being his daughter and let that in instead of burying it. We were watching her dealing with her mental health and demons. They can do a lot with it in the upcoming Scream movies where she can still use that part of her to survive OR it can make her snap into becoming like her father. Kind of like how different killers have tried to make Sidney snap mentally due to past trauma but she always over came it instead. So they could take it into a opposite direction for Sam as the main final girl and actually make her snap.
Billy as a hallucination was also a call back to Scream when he tells Sidney "It's like Jodie Foster in The Silence of the Lambs, when she keeps having flashbacks of her dead father".
Wes was the one kill in the movie that I was aggravated about. He absolutely should have been one of the new survivors!
That character was only put in the film so they could say the "for Wes" line, paying tribute to Wes craven

Even though he died and that sucks, I do like how often this movie gave props to Dewey. His bravery over the course of all the movies is often underrated.
David Arquette was also allowed to show a bit more acting range in this one. Dewey seemed more real , a deeper character.

I adore Scream 4, but I thought this film did a better job at doing what Scream 4 was trying to do in establishing a new generation to take on the franchise. We don't get to the first legacy character in this film (Dewey) until about 40 minutes in and spend a lot of time getting to know the new cast who each have unique characters (especially the survivors). I thought the new cast was so strong that I could plausibly see the next Scream film not having any legacy characters and moving forward with just these new cast members. And maybe since Kirby is still alive she comes back as a next gen "legacy" character.

But Scream 4 was never about establishing a new generation, it was about making you think that, subverting that expectation, and then all fresh blood wound up dead (or left for dead in Kirby's case), with the "new" Sidney being the villain, and only the three originals left yet again + the cop that was Sidney's classmate , hence, "Don't f*** with the original". It was genius.
Big ups to Jenna Ortega for holding the film down for me ! I feel like everyone loves Scream on some level and so I feel like everyone is generally pleased. I loved when she went Full Loomis 😂 it was great. I was glad to see that they didn’t over use Sydney and Gale but had them there. Just as meta as the others, loved how far they went with continuing Stab existing, and all the nods to Wes Craven throughout the film. As much as it saddens me that Dewey was killed. It was kind of poetic for him though he saved Sams little sister where he wasn't able to save Tatum. Also, it makes since for Dewey to be the first legacy character to die out of the three. It gave us a chance to continue watching the Gale/Sidney arc. Dewey's death brought them together and to work as a actual team. Their relationship has grown a lot since the first Scream. Sidney/Dewey always had that Brother/sister relationship and Dewey/Gale always had the on and off again relationship. But Sidney and Gale were never close they always had Dewey as the middle person. With Dewey being gone it gives them that chance.
So many have a issue of believe that Amber could kill Dewey because of being a teenage girl and due to her size. When someone is that psychotic they have crazy amount of strength. Doctors at mental institutes have a hard time handling some of their patients when they go full mental rage.
Dewey was doing good with hand on hand contact. Then he went back and got distracted by his phone ringing. That's the only reason Amber was able to get the upper hand cause he was off guarded and shes really swift. Also, don't forget Dewey has nerve damage/limp, in his 50's, is a drinker now, hasn't stayed active at all and depression. He wasnt exactly in a good mental state at all. He knew he wouldn't be able to handle it this time around and wasn't going to but after talking with Sidney he changed his mind and tried to help.
Also, the way ghostface was with Sam on the phone trying to make her choose between Tara and Ritchie that's something Amber would do. It was her way of proving that Sam was "selfish" and doesn't care about her sister. Ghostface that attacked Tara in the hospital was the same person who attacked her in the open scene. Ghostface told Samantha while trying to force her to choose he was threatening that this time he won't miss all of the major organs like the last time. So Amber attacked her both of those times.
Amber is the GF that's alot more stab happy and aggressive, Richie is the GF who does one stab and he's done. Dewey's kill was also abit of a reference to Ghostface's execution in Cold War.
I want Stu to come back, but I want him to come back in a more redeeming role, where maybe he saves Sidney, even dying tosave her maybe.

Honestly I don't want them to redeem Stu, but also I don't want him to directly be the killer again. An idea could be that maybe while in prison (or on the run if he managed to somehow escape at the end of the first movie) he trained another killer to take his place (maybe he's in poor health after the immense amount of damage he received and can no longer do the killing himself). The characters could even notice that the killer is very similar to Stu, and maybe they go find him or something. Have him even help the main characters try to stop the killer, just for the end reveal to show that he was in on it the whole time. You could even do the classic "partner kills other partner" twist by having Stu kill the new ghostface, which could connect to the poor health theory. His motive is wanting to go on another killing spree, but he couldn't do it himself, but he also didn't want the other kid to get the credit. A more in depth part of the motive could be to prove that he was better than Billy, since Billy got most of the credit for the original killings.
It'd also be cool if he kills Sidney. Sidney is the one character no one expects to die, and I feel like killing her before Gale would be a huge twist and great moment. He could have a line about how he learned from his first killing spree to not dilly dally around killing the final girl (because they fully had the chance to kill her in that kitchen scene, but they took too long explaining their motives and plan). I feel like Stu is the only way they can kill Sidney. You can't have a random new character kill the original movies final girl, you have to have an important character do it. If Stu doesn't do it, no one ever will, and to me, that's boring. I like Sidney, but 6 movies with her in it is pushing it a little hard

I was so upset when Dewey died to the point of tears. It still really bums me out but I get why it had to happen.
Ironic that they ended up making his death the most cruel due to the fact he was supposed to die in the original film.

The characters were watching Dawson’s creek on tv. Kevin Williamson, the guy who created and wrote scream 1,2,& 4 is who Dawson’s creek is loosely based on. A teen from a small town who dreamed of going to Hollywood and making horror movies. There is usually a Dawson’s creek reference or actor in scream movies, because he made it.
Scott Foley, who played Roman Bridger in Scream 3, was on the TV in the episode of the show as well.

I just realized, after watching this through myself as well as several reaction videos, Stab is paused when Mindy is being attacked by Ghostface. So what, Mindy took a moment to pause her favorite movie before lurching off the couch away from a serial killer? That's dedication.
A friend of mine went to cinema with a group of people and after it ended one of the group stormed out of cinema and started stamping his feet and raging "They're laughing at us!" in street to the point random passersby started asking the rest of the group if he was okay. I didn't see it till home release so I had no idea it was about toxic fandom when I heard that story but I'm guessing it hit the mark if it scored that reaction. Great reaction guys. Hope if you've never seen 'Chopper' (2000) that'll turn up here one day, I've seen it about 25 times and it never gets old.
Scream 6 will follow Terra and her sister now, with Sidney and Gail helping. The movie makers have to know that they need a new target for future films, while still paying homage to the past. This movie was the first step in that.

I'm with Tom, Scream 4 is massively underrated. In terms of story-telling Wes was just much better than Radio Silence, and it shows even with Scream 3's lackluster script, that movie still feels more fun than Scream 5.
Yeah, the new movie won't age well. That's the thing about 3 and 4, they aged spectacularly well. There are so many things about the 3rd and 4th movies that were shockingly ahead of their time, even with some shaky ideas. Things didn't work out with Brad Pitt for "Jennifer Jolie" (the cheating scandal happened 5 years later), the Harvey Weinstein / casting couch thing, etc. and Scream 4's commentary on social media and vlogging your whole life when that movie was being filmed just before Vidcon became a thing.

You both have valid points: Scream 2022 is indeed amazing and has achieved the feat of reinvigorating the franchise. I don't agree with Shi that it won't age well: I think toxic fandom will continue to be a thing just as it has been for decades. 2022 is also generally just a very well-written movie. That said, it's unnecessary for you to go on about Scream 4 being a flop. Yep, it didn't do well at the box office, but thankfully modern consensus is that it was indeed a movie way ahead of its time, and if you venture onto Reddit or other sites you'll find Scream 4 has had a massive and very much deserved resurgence in popularity from new viewers just like Tom.

Stab 8 is the bad Stab film that triggers Amber and Richie into killing, and its cannon that Rian Johnson directer Stab 8 which is reference to him directing Star Wars 8 (The Last Jedi). In the credits, there is a special thanks to Rian Johnson. My issue with it being because of toxic fans, its clearly aiming or taking inspiration from the toxic Star Wars fandom, which isn't a horror franchise. I am excited for Kirby to come back! And the Tatum's urn/memorial thing in Dewey's home was so sweet to see, I loved seeing him save Tara like he couldn't save Tatum.
You can apply the toxicity of the Star Wars fanbase to like 99% of all fanbases that exist, honestly.
Fun Facts:
1. The Original Scream cast did voice overs Drew Barrymore (Casey Becker) was the principal on the intercom in the beginning. Also, Matthew Lillard (Stu) was the one in the RUclips channel doing the medal ghostface voice and at the party he's the one that said " Cool house" to Amber when she was walking through. Jamie Kennedy (Randy) was the one that made the comment about the "some goofy ass dad is here kicking everone out". Hayden (Kirby), principal Himbry and others from the franchise were part of the "For Wes" when they cheered.
2. Also on that RUclips channel the first clip on the side of the screen it was a Easter egg that confirmed Kirby survived from Scream 4. It was her doing a interview about being a survivor. Then below hers there's another clip asking if Stu Macher is still alive or not lol. Kirby and Stu had been a HUGE debate with the fans whether or not they both survived. So they confirmed it with Kirby but with Stu they gave us a teaser.
3. When Chad picked up the candle stick as a weapon it was reference to when Sidney grabbed a candle stick in Scream 3 to defend herself with.

5. Sidneys husband Mark is Detective Mark Kincaid from Scream 3.
6. Wes Hicks Kill Scene where he closed the front door. No one told Dylan that ghostface would be behind him in that scene so his reaction to it was legit lol.
7. Even though Mindy said to Wes about his mom being safe but yet they got killed anyways.
Two reasons: 1st is they killed the Sherrif and her son as a decoy/distraction to lure the cops away from the hospital their main target was Tara. 2nd reason they killed off Wes who is a reference for "Wes Craven" it was there way of having a memorial for Wes Craven in the movie. He died after he made the 4th so this one was like a love letter to him
8. At the hospital when GF appeared behind Richie he got his arm sliced similar to when Jill got hers sliced by GF.

During the scene where the new cast is sitting outside before they go to the hospital to see Tara, I found it interesting that Amber is saying Tara fought back hard. As far as it is shown, Tara is just now waking up and only she and perhaps the police would know what happened at the house, aside from the killer. Also the video sent to Tara just confirmed to me that Amber was involved in the whole set up.
I liked this movie and Scream 4 is not as bad as everyone is saying. It's campy, yes, but the Scream franchise is on a tier of its own and I'd say they're all in the pretty damn good horror/slasher movies, when compared to every other horror/slasher film ever made.
Sam takes after her father like he took after his Momma, who probably takes after her dad and so on.

I think Scream 6 is going to be a Ghostface trying to tie up loose ends, IE going after all survivors from the previous attacks, hence Kirby being back, and the possibility of Stu being back (who I’m convinced will be the opening kill) it would be a refreshing take on the franchise where its someone trying to stop it all rather than continue it!

I enjoyed the film but preferred the director's previous movie 'Ready or Not' instead. I thought 'Ready or Not' was a better-crafted movie overall with the Plot, Casting, Dialogue & Direction. I loved Jenna Ortega's performance as Tara, especially in the opening scene and thought she blew the actress playing Sam out of the water for the rest of the movie ( I wish she'd been the main girl). I'm looking forward to seeing Jenna in her new movie 'X' directed by Ti West (which I've heard really good things about) when it releases on Blu-ray in a few weeks. Maybe you guys can do a reaction to it in the future.

It goes further with the Star wars connection. The movie that got the fans riled up is the 8th in the franchise directed by Rian Johnson. They only refer to him as "the Knives Out guy" but yeah.
Yes I was waiting for this!! Even thou I figured out who the killer was. I am tired of the same cliche they used from the other films. Jenna Ortega did an amazing job playing the screaming girl for this generation. I think next movie she'll play a bigger part since she's growing into other projects. I rate this movie a 7/10

The scene where Tara was watching TV in her hospital room before her attack. She was watching Dawson's Creek it was a tv series in the late 90's that Kevin Williamson also wrote for. He wrote for Scream, Scream 2, originally Scream 3 till they had to change the story and another writer came in and then he wrote Scream 4. Well Scott Foley who played Roman in Scream 3 as Sidneys half brother he was a recurring role in the 1st season of Dawson's Creek and that episode she was watching was a Friday of the 13th kind of episode when Dawson would pull pranks on his friends. In that same episode they had a killer on the loose near their hometown that had a similar M.O as Scream 96. That was the last episode Scott Foley was in on Dawson's Creek before he left to go film Scream 3
Fun fact! It was announced a couple weeks ago that Hayden Panettiere is coming back as Kirby (scream 4) for Scream 6!
Just wanted you guys to know that they actually used Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis and they just CG his face to look younger. As you can hear, his voice is also Skeet.

I’m so gutted that Dewey got killed off, first Randy now Dewey! Can’t we have a male survive for once ?! Saying that though he got a great bad ass death and that’s the most you can ask for in a horror movie, “its an honour” arghh it makes me rage but I love it at the same time 🤣
Chad grew on me so I’m kinda hoping he gets a good bit of time in 6 and ends up being out final boy !

The killer felt like an O.G. Ghostface. I'm surprised it wasn't you-know-stu.
I’m genuinely hoping he comes back in 6 and admits he was who killed Dewey at the very least, ‘it’s an honour’ just rang stu for me , everyone talks about Billy being the sole killer and forget about Stu, I could fully see him getting peed off by that and come back and kill one of the OG3 which Billy never managed neither has any of the other killers in any other movie. That would be a big one for him to finally get people to take him seriously after all these years. I know someone will attack me and mention the tv and stab wounds but Tara should have also died from her many injuries and many additional injuries but she also made it 🤷🏼♀️ I just wanna see Matthew on screens again he’s amazing , Skeet was a great surprise so Matthew would be fantastic & he’s not been shy in admitting he believes stu is alive and could come back 🤞🏻😊
As someone who was there for every scream movie on opening night at the movies, I was there for this one. I liked it but the motive was so weak and ambers “if I talk really loud and do the crazy eyes” do you believe I’m psycho over the top was too much. Stu’s house did not feel like Stu’s house from the first movie. It felt like a studio set box house like they had in scream 3. And I refuse to believe this 100lb girl, no matter how psycho she is, was able to stab a taller man front and back and cut up through muscle and tissue. That would be hard as hell to do for anyone. And she overpowered him? Come on now. I did absolutely love Tara and I am rooting for her to be the final girl. The ambiguous ending with Sam leaves you wondering if she’ll go either way. Go back to normal life or be a killer like her dad. There were a couple of key shots that were mirrored from the first scream. When Sam is killing Ritchie, there’s a moment where the camera focuses on the knife in the air and how it’s been held by Sam. It’s the exact same shot, same way it’s been held by billy when he’s killing Casey in the first movie. The overkill of Ritchie. That’s not final girl, that’s future daddy daughter serial killing team, hence why I think Tara will be the new final girl. When it shows Sam wiping the blade off after she kills Ritchie she swipes it with her hand like billy did. We always get a flash of ghostface before credits roll, this time it was ghostface wiping the blade off like we had just seen Sam do, foreshadowing? And I’m so stoked Kirby is back in the 6th movie! And the for Wes at the end, you can hear birds, Wes was an avid bird watcher. The directors added that which was extremely touching.

I don't know if you noticed but on the laptop, on RUclips they confirmed that Kirby is alive!! Dewey's death always makes me cry, him dying was needed in my opinion though. It felt like the trio was untouchable, so they showed us that no one is safe. Though I don't think Sydney will ever die, per Cravens wishes. It was a new movie while also being a scream movie, it was easily one of my favorites! For me with this movie it's 1, 4, 5, 2 then 3. I think. I move 4 and 5 back and forth a lot depending on the mood lol. They might as well be tied.

Stu was in this one. Kind of. He played Ghostface with the flame thrower in Stab 8 and was one of the party voices at the end of Scream 5

As well you’ll notice in the scene Sam was attacked in the hospital that only SHE moved chairs and tables! There’s a rumour she was the 3rd killer and that the attack in the hospital was her mind playing tricks on her because she was unstable after finding out Billy was her dad

I hope Stu doesn't come back. Even if he survived getting a TV dropped on his head and being electrocuted, why was he never mentioned again? I feel like they would've have atleast mentioned that he is in prison or something.

And, in case you missed it... when Richie is at the hospital or hotel(can't remember which), he's surfing Bloody Disgusting's RUclips channel about the Stab series. To the side, one of the recommended videos is titled "Interview with Woodsboro Survivor Kirby Reed". So, Kirby from Scream 4 did survive, and she will return for Scream 6.
The way the girl killer dies is even better if you've seen Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood.

Redlettermedia spoiled the killer for me, but they way they did it was so funny, that I wasn't even mad.
Also that last shot of the film was more or less the exact same last shot of the original film - the panning our from the exact same house !

I REALLY loved the sisters Tara and Sam, Sam being Billy's daughter, and thought Sam was an amazing final girl. I liked both Richie and Amber as the killers as well, they were a solid and very formidable team that genuinely seemed to work well together without betrayals and backstabbing etc. The OG trio was amazing of course, Dewey's death was as heartbreaking and tragic as it should have been... The kills and attacks were horrifyingly brutal, and as such what I want from a Scream movie. All in all the movie left me excited for the next movie and waning to see more of the new characters who survived this one, and there is no higher praise I could offer than that.
5, 2 and 4 are so close that their spot in the ranking may go back and forth as time goes on, but I love them all and that feels good to say!

I immediately was on top of one of the killers but couldn't yet figure out if there was a second one or not. Meanwhile my brother - who didn't see the movie - told me it was 'the second character that appears on screen after the opening' before I left to go to the cinema. And that psychic was damn right...
It would've been so awesome if they caught one of the Ghostfaces early on in the movie. I'd like to hear a Scream like that.

The Hallucinations of "Billy Loomis" was the same actor Skeet Ulrich. They used the de-aging to get as close as possible to how he looked in the first Scream.
