I’m so glad you touched on the topic of triggers ❤️ from my personal experience, there is a lot of gold in things that trigger us, facing them with courage and kindness (I would also add curiosity too) can lead to some breakthroughs 💪

I’m struggling with accepting the idea of “there’s nothing I can do to sleep better.” I know it will help me, but I don’t believe it. I always worry that I haven’t done enough self help, that I haven’t found the right video that will click with me. How do I get over this?

What do you say to the doctors and people who say recovery is really important and not sleeping good causes a higher risk of cancer etc.

As a response to the person who asked you about night shift story.I work night shifts. At one point i even associated the long hallway to my office with a chilldhood nightmare in which I dreamed I faced an weird entity that i could not define physically. An entity that would keep me frozen in place. Frozen with fear, of course. I like to think of it like a premonition of my anxious-depressive episode. But even when my anxiety was still pretty high I did not run away from shifts because it would only become avoidance behaviour and it would only grow bigger. I know it sounds paradoxical but i prefer to stand my ground to anxiety/insomnia and not give them a slice of my social/professional life ALTHOUGH I sacrifice some SLEEP by working shifts. 😊

I'm 17 and I'm just panicking a lot because everyone is saying different things.
Chat gpt says that I should do a CBT i and Insomnia is a complex disorder what works for others may not work for me.
Then my doctor says that I'll have to take medicine. Chronic insomnia is treated with medicine and sleep hygiene.
And then I read Dr. Daniel's book which says complete opposite in chapters like sleep hygiene is a trap and zolpidem vs confidence, you're unique but you're Insomnia isn't and etc.
At this point I'm just so confused that I don't know what to do anymore.

Do what feels right for you. I think that many times Daniel's kind and courageous approach is the last destination for those who tried everything. So many people tried CBTi, sleep hygiene, meds, etc. including me. But it's when we understand insomnia&sleep, and we shift away the focus from sleep and do our best to live our lives when also our sleep changes. Btw, ChatGpt is a great help, but gives only general ideas that prevale on the internet. It's not a "tool of truth" so use your own critical mind and see for yourself what makes most sense for you and leave the rest behind. Good luck!

Hi daniel . Thanks for the video. Recently i had an exam and i just happened to have insomnia the week of the exam. I am now recovered and realise that i dont really control whether i sleep or not. Unfortunately the exam didnt go so well and I am scheduled for a retake. I am really anxious of this event repeating again and insomnia affecting my performance or not.....

It won’t - you clearly care a lot. Welcome those emotions it’s just arousal of the ans (autonomic nervous system) this takes time to recover a lot of people including my self have hyper disregulated nervous systems form repeated stress and trauma. There is more work that can be done to help these symptoms once your nervous system is built up again and has capacity you will sleep well.

Hi, please check the Momsomnia playlist! What you experience is hyper sleep, nothing strange or unusual. And it's us new moms who have this mamasleep, where we hear a pin drop in the next room, so we are ready to take care of our babies. By normalizing this and knowing what and why is happening, making yourself comfortable (eg.cosleeping with your baby) the struggle fades. Sleep might not be as good as pre-mama times, but the struggle fades and you will discover more energy. ruclips.net/video/c8dV0lx_dv8/видео.html
