I'm in two minds about how loud to make my 808s, I always thought that the melody had to be the loudest? Does it depend on the genre of the track or alternatively is it just preference?

He is highlighting the time bar and using ctrl +b. If you use ctrl+c then ctrl+v they will just paste on top of each other.
