I love to watch her videos she reminds me so much of my granny, talks the same, same hairstyle. Her videos are so calming when I'm missing her and I feel like cooking/making something from HOME!!!💓
I have so much sorrel growing in south Georgia, I'm overwhelmed. I've made sorrel drink, sorrel jam, and dehydrated a LOT and it's still producing on the bush.
Grandmother you have made my day the way you explain how to make the sorrel drink so easy to follow. Thank you for your time keep up the good work and remember to go to church God bless you
Don't trust every granny!!! My one robbed my dad of his savings in the 80s, after he came to England and turned big demolition worker and bought house flights for her to retire into. She hated the half breed as they called it back then. Dutty bomba attitude!!! He done that for her and she robbed me as a child. Nasty bombahole, made me not trust any woman.
I have seen people put cinnamon leaf(or stick), pimento, clove and/or red wine in their sorrel but you make it the way my husband does (although he doesn't use lemon juice). This is one of my favourite drinks!
I remember when i was younger and my friend mother use make this all the Time, the first time i tasted it i was like mmmm i love it they had it all the time i must admit i started visiting them just to get some more i mean i love my friend but her mother's sorrel was serious lol
One Christmas Sunday my mother made this for church. But she make a mistake and put likkle too much white rum inna it........ Mi bloodclaat, All i have to say is that it was the best church service i ever been to. Whole church catch ah fire. Sis Mary fling whey her walking stick and do bout ten backflip down the aisle.
Yum! I didn't know you can add rum to it. This will be my first time making it for a Summer cookout. My family is Spanish/Caribbean and they make it during the holidays as well but I want to show off my cooking skills. Thanks Madam.!

My gran always strained the sorrel through a piece of muslin cloth, because sorrel has tiny hairs that come loose when boiling and steeping, and they can irritate your throat.
Since sorrel is such a healthy ingredient, is there a way to prepare sorrel so thatt children can drink? Do u just omit the rum or add other things as well?
These trees can be found in many Caribbean islands and some other international countries not just Jamaica...why can't it just be "sorrel" and not "Jamaican sorrel" 😑....I'm from st lucia and we don't go around calling it st. Lucian sorrel 🙄 ....good recipe however
Many of us from the Caribbean and South America have Sorrel growing in our countries. But this is Jamaican Sorrel done by a Jamaican, so it is Jamaican Sorrel. You can do your own St. Lucian version and call it what you choose. THE CREATOR BLESS

My gran always strained the sorrel through a piece of muslin cloth, because sorrel has tiny hairs that come loose when boiling and steeping, and they can irritate your throat.

Keep up the good work
The spice you couldn't remember was cloves
Why do we need a password to view your recipes online?
we make this in my country the gambia we call it wonju
I love sorrel, but why lemon juice?
You mentioned ferment. Can a wine be made from it?
yes
Since sorrel is such a healthy ingredient, is there a way to prepare sorrel so thatt children can drink? Do u just omit the rum or add other things as well?
Home Maker yes omit the rum
Star Anise is the other ingredient besides cinnamon that can be added for flavor.
Andy Gussie : Orange peel too 💯
You're awsome.. Id love to try a glass of that..
Yes, just omit the rum
I am Dominican, I love jamaican food. I just attempted to make sorrel...not as I remembered...is hibiscus flower right? but idk something is off
I made it with cloves, cinamon stick and orange slices according to some site .
Yes. it's hibiscus flowers
Hibiscus and sorrel two different things. They look a bit similar.
@@jocelynrobertson2261 she literally showed u what it is... No it's not hibiscus... It's SORREL two different plants
Where do you find Sorrel and exactly what is it?
It is a type of hibiscus. You can find it dried or fresh at tropical grocers
Can you not put alcohol or would that affect it in the end
JassieJai You can if you want, it won't affect the taste that much.
Greatness
Back for Christmas
No video this year, but you can find my recipe on my website

They are not the same

O, I don’t throw the sorrel away…I use it as a vegan meat substitute.
