Love Teslas. I’m on my second Tesla now. Just took delivery of it last week. It’s a 2024 Model Y Dual Motor LR. Previous Tesla was a 2019 Model 3 Dual Motor LR. Some advice, make sure to trade it in prior to battery warranty expiring. I drove my model 3 135k miles, when I started getting the same battery issues. It wouldn’t charge past 30%. I brought it in for service and because it was out of warranty they quoted me $12k to swap the battery for a remanufactored one - including labor. Thought about trading it in, but, was only offered $4k trade-in value. Their reasoning was due to the battery issue.
Anyhow, because of the $7.5k federal tax incentive, the $500 NY state tax incentive, the $1k early Cybertruck reservation holder incentive, and the free transfer of FSD to my new model Y, I decided to go ahead with the trade-in. I took delivery of a black on black Dual Motor Model Y LR with the 3rd row seat and FSD was transferred to it.
Anyhow, again, my advice, trade it in before your battery warranty expires. They are great cars and I love them, but, once battery is out of warranty you’re taking a gamble.

Air vents are obstructed due to the aftermarket carbon fiber dash cover you added, I've seen the button peeling on every used Mercedes I've been in, based on your own numbers, your replacement battery had the same or better range as the original. Draining your battery below 0% will also negatively affect capacity. Fit and finish of newer Model Y vehicles that I've seen look flawless, the build quality has been vastly improved. The Model 3 Highland is also a giant leap forward and I don't see anyone complaining about the build quality of the newer models.

Wow, I haven't had any of those issues. I did have my wiper arm start hitting my hood one day. It was an easy fix, I had to take care of right away obviously so I just gave it a little bend pressure to fix so it would clear the hood. Service center swapped the part even though I had fixed it. Then they also touched up the scuff with paint. It didn't bother me since you couldn't see it from above and the hood is aluminum anyhow, so no worries about rust. Also, I had a couple little dents in the hood from people closing it improperly, and they popped those dents out for me and it was good as new. You really have to be carefull when closing the frunk, just make sure to do it by the T logo near the front edge.

I wanted to get a Tesla but they just haven't come far enough with the quality of their vehicles. Yes, the charging network is top notch but all the small problems just aren't worth the headache as they add up over time. I went with an ICE Lexus and I'll never have to worry about all the small annoying issues that take away from the experience of owning a luxury vehicle. It just made more sense for me, especially since I live in an apartment, work from home and don't put many miles on my car. In the future, I'll consider looking at Tesla again, or possibly another brand. Keep up the great content!

2 things I heard in the beginning that are misrepresented. Tesla tax credits ended at 2019 and only restarted in 2024. It is impossible for anyone who owns a model y to get a credit unless it’s brand new
2nd, just because you don’t have to stop for oil changes, you still have to get the tires rotated. Most owners forget this because they believe since maintenance is minimal, they don’t have to do any, this why the tires wear out quicker

It's a known fact, and a lawsuit, that Tesla lies about range estimates. They lie initially about total range, but more so after some use. Company fans needs to ease out on the praises. No car should have so many issues few years in, especially in that price range.

My 2021 Model Y that I received in November 2020 now has 50,400 miles with only one small problem. The driver side rear door window did not close after opening then closing the door. The puddle light failed. Tesla wanted me to bring it to a service center but I didn't feel like doing that so I bought one online, installed it in 3 minutes and problem fixed. I've had no problems with gaps, paint or anything peeling. Opening shot is on Outlet Center Drive just south of the Tanger Way Superchargers in Barstow.

You are better off buying a PHEV from Toyota and Lexus. Those are bullet proof in reliability and 40+ miles on EV for your daily commute. Yes you save on gas on a Tesla, but higher insurance cost and more frequent tire change will offset some of the maintenance and gas cost. There is not much to maintain on a hybrid other than standard yearly oil change.

This could be a long shot, but it's possible you have air bubbles in your batteries cooling loop.
A couple of my home built liquid cooled PC's made similar noises when I had too many air bubbles in the water loop.
It only made the popping noises after I had been gaming for several minutes with the video card and CPU running at full turbo.

One thing that I find annoying is that my Tesla will start preconditioning for a charge 90 minutes prior to my reaching a charging station (I use the Tesla map feature to schedule a charge on long trips). I find that the preconditioning really drains the battery although when we finally do reach the supercharger, it does charge fairly quickly in cold weather. I just wish it would wait until 30 minutes or so prior to reaching the supercharger to start preconditioning.

@@EverydayChris, Actually, I haven't used the graph. What I do is calculate based on percent charge and how many miles driven. So prior to charging (while it's preconditioning), I calculated I was getting 1.8 miles per one percent. After charging, I was getting about 2.2 miles per one percent. Not sure how that compares to your 2 percent loss, but it would appear I am doing a lot worse than that.

You had me at being Asian, it wasn't just you. Latinos know that Toyota, Honda are reliable. Unlike a brand-new GMC Jimmy/Blazer from the 90s which my dad was so proud to buy, but alas was a money pit. So yeah, the stereotype is still strong in me when it comes to purchasing cars. I've only had Acura's in the household until I got tired of the Costco line.
