  • Edit: At the beginning of the video timestamp 0:53 I accidentally switch the decibel level for the Quiets and Experience. To be clear the Quiets filter up to -27 and the Experience up to -18. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks to the viewer who brought this to my attention.
    I bought the Loop Earplugs to try out and review. They are highly touted in the autism communities to help with anxiety, sensitivity to noises, general anxiety, etc. I review both the Loop Quiet and the Loop Experience in this video. These Noise Reduction Earplugs have made a huge difference in my and my kids lives already!
    Update (7/28/22): My daughter's case and one earbud broke. I reached out to the company and in less than 12 hours received a response they will send out a replacement since they have a lifetime guarantee. I just sent in a photo of the broken Earplug. Amazing customer service!
    Update (9/8/22): I still love my loop earplugs! I'm getting myself tested for autism. Sound sensitivity is just one trait many autistic people have. I have a new channel

    if you'd like to learn about my neurodivergencies of aphantasia, SDAM (a memory disorder) and possibly Autism.

    Confused? You introduce the quiet as blocking out the most sound compared to the experience but then say quiet blocks “up to -18 decibels” and experience “up to -27” ….can you clarify?

    • @TheNeurospicyMama
      @TheNeurospicyMama  2 года назад +27

      The Quiets block up to -27 and the Experience up to -18. If I misspoke, I apologize, do you have the time stamp of that? So to reiterate, the Quiets block more sound than the Experience. Hope that helps and sorry about any confusion I may have caused.

      The quiet blocks out up to 27 decibels and then the experience I believe blocks out up to 18 decibels so you can still hear people clearly unlike the quiets which you can only really hear quiet muffles

    Update: Hey I got the Loop Engage and I wear them every day at work. The feedback from my voice still sounds a bit louder in my head than I'd like, but it's noticeably improved when compared to the Loop Experience.
    I can't believe they don't have a "clear" option available for all the styles; it is incredibly subtle and I have no issues with my supervisors over them :) I know I'm just a random commenter, but I never would've found out about these if you hadn't taken the time to reply and I'm extremely grateful!

    Great review. I think the condition you are talking about is called Misophonia, where people are bothered by oral noises such as chewing, and even breathing. I had a student years ago who had that, and we managed to find a set of earplugs that helped some. I'm glad to know that there are new and improved products for noise reduction. Sometimes I get overwhelmed, because I am essentially trying to overcompensate for two senses, so I often think it would be nice to have something that reduces noise. But for the most part, I've managed to develop a filter internally that does a pretty good job. The overwhelming feeling comes from just being exhausted because it takes more energy when gathering information from the environment, figuring out if it is relevant, etc.
    Great to see you are doing some more product reviews. I don't have any doubt that you wouldn't review anything honestly, so if you say this is a worthwhile product, than it is. It may not work for everyone, but that doesn't make it a bad product.
    Finally, Watson's snoring was hilarious. (I recognize it may not be so when you have to hear it every single night while trying to fall asleep.) But the audio nerd and me couldn't help wondering what that would sound like sped up or slow down, or even echoed multiple times. In that little clip, it sounded like a miniature lion roar. 🤣🤣🤣

      Oh man, I was so excited to get that footage of Watson snoring, he actually fell asleep at my feet while I was editing! I carefully picked up my camera and hit record without moving to wake him up!

    Thanks for your review! I never realized I had such bad sensory issues until I had a very rambunctious toddler. I was an only child and grew up in a relatively quiet home. Though, considering how I handled visiting my friend who was the oldest of 4, I should’ve known! Now with a toddler and dealing with her constant noise combined with terrible anxiety, I’m finding myself fighting a terrible panicky feeling in grocery stores and letting my daughter have way too much screen time just to keep her quiet. I just ordered a couple pairs of Loop earplugs and am really hoping they help! I’ve never been diagnosed with anything, but considering my parents thought autism was caused by vaccines and adhd was just bad parenting…
    Also totally feel the pug pain! I have two and I feel like they compete with my husband to see who can snore the loudest!

    I’m autistic and I have the loop quiets ! They’re amazing. Eating with them in is painful though. I also have misophonia with chewing sounds, so wearing my loops while eating makes my chewing noises so loud that it makes me feel gross and messes with my appetite. I’m wondering if the experience don’t exacerbate the sounds of yourself chewing when you use them? Great video ! Saw you post it on the loop fb page lol

      We are getting my daughter evaluated for autism. She normally wears her Quiets to the table because she can't stand other people's chewing noises. She said she can hear her own but it doesn't bother her the same way. She doesn't like the Experiences at the table because she says she can still hear other people's chewing with them. The Quiets block more decibels.
      She wears her Quiets most of them time. She wears her Experiences at Taekwondo so she can still hear multiple people talking to her, but it filters out some background noises and lowers the volume in general.
      Hope that helps and thanks for watching! Let me know if I can help further. :)

    Thank you for the great in depth review. I wanted to ask in addition, do the quiets give you that pressure stuffed sensation that silicone earphones give? You know the sensation where you get an amplification of internal sounds? If so, do the experience give the same sensation? I guess what I am asking is do the quiets sound natural but lower as opposed to unnatural. I intend to use these when riding motorcycles, and the noise reduction on the experience pro is not enough. I need the -27db on the quiets.

    • @TheNeurospicyMama
      @TheNeurospicyMama  2 года назад +1

      I find both to be comfortable in my ears without much pressure. It did take a few tries before I figured out the correct position that was comfortable. As for internal sounds, yes, you can hear for instance your own swallowing. But on a motorcycle I doubt you'd be able to. I really find that they do just lower volume of external sounds but still feels quite natural. For instance sometimes when I'm wearing my Experience Loops I think they might not be working, but if I take them out everything is suddenly so much louder. So you can still hear, just volum turned down. Hope that helps!

    • @Omar-kw5ui
      @Omar-kw5ui 2 года назад

      @@TheNeurospicyMama Thank you for your help. Just one more question, do you get that amplification of swallowing sound on both the quiet and experience, or just on the quiet? I ask because I have been using airpod pros recently and their noise cancellation mode is really great, I always forget that it is even on as it doesn't amplify
      "internal sounds" that you get with cheep ear plugs. They do this by equalising the pressure between the outside and inside your ear. So the fact you have similar praise of forgetting you are wearing the experience is really reassuring.

      In a quiet environment wearing my Experience Loops, I can her my swallowing and breathing. I can't here my heartbeat, but I'm not sensitive to that sound. With the Quiets I can hear swallowing. For both its if I tune in and pay attention. But those sounds aren't triggering for me, so I don't know how much they muffle for someone who is triggered by them. Thank you for the amazing video, I am thinking of ordering a pair for myself since I am very sensitive to noise which has cost me a few nights of good sleep the past two weeks.
    How well does each earbud (Quiet and Experience) mute or silence the snoring of your dog? That sounds a bit specific but oddly enough the resonance of their snoring seems pretty close to what is keeping me up at night. XD

    • @TheNeurospicyMama

      Thanks for the question! Loop only recommends the Quiets for sleep as the entire thing is a soft silicone. It reduces -27 dB. Standard orange foam earplugs typically reduce -32 dB. I usually sleep with orange foam earplugs because my dog is so loud. I haven tried sleeping with the Quiets, as I bought those for my kids and only tried them briefly for this video.

      I think they really do bring down the volume. They are not noise canceling. When you first put them in it may seem like nothing is thar different. But wear them a few minutes and take them out you'll realize how much sound the dampen! The quiets reduce the most sound. I think there's also one that has an insert that may bring the volume down even more. I prefer the experience because I just want the sound dampened but to still be able to hear clearly when people talk to me. Wearing the quiets the person has to be close by and talking directly to me.

    Hi can you help me?
    I work in an open space office (so I have different people closed to me).
    I’d like to consistently reduce both ambient and voices noises to be more focused when carrying out my tasks.
    However I wouldn’t like to be completely isolated from everything (for example if a colleague is trying to call me, I’d like to be able to notice it, even if his voice noise is significantly reduced).
    So on one hand I want all the noises (of the voices as well) to be hugely reduced but on the other hand I would appreciate if I could be a little aware if someone is calling me.
    Is that possible with the loop experience pro (with the mute filter on) for instance? Or the voices are too much high (even with the mute filter on)?
    Because if with the loop experience pro the noises of the voices are still too much high, I would be disturbed the same (and in that case I would choose the quiet: I would be very isolated and not able to notice if someone is calling me, it’s true, but at least I would be focused when doing my tasks that it’s the priority for me).
    I hope you understood the situation.
    Thank you very much in advance for the answer!

      I haven't used the filter so I don't know how well it works. I use the Experience when I'm at the grocery store. It reduces the horribly loud music but I can still hear when someone is talking to me directly. I wish the music was more muted, but I do like to hear people around me, and at the register ect. My kid wears the quiets to Taekwondo to reduce all the noises. It's harder to hear the instructor but they can hear well enough with them in. Hope that helps.

They do have things in place that could have helped us enjoy our trip even more. But I'm at least thankful we had these earplugs! Still, for us, unfortunately, Disney is not our favorite place because of all the sensory issues. We were going as an extended family trip. Not all autistic people are this way, some autistic people are sensory seekers and LOVE all the stimulation of Disney. ❤️

    How did you get diagnosed autistic so quickly? Who did you see? What were their credentials? It seems so hard to get diagnosed in California if you are “high functioning”(I hate the term because each day is different on how well we are able to function due to many different factors). But wonder if maybe we just dont know how to get to the right type of doctor for diagnosis. Autism centers here are very ableist and also told us they dont even look at “high functioning” when diagnosing, so our over a year long wait for that assessment was annoying. But we did get every diagnoses you can think of under the autism umbrella of traits or comorbidities lol
