    Noise gates are one of those pedals that are not missed if you don’t need them but so valuable when you do. This pedal seems to do the job for a really good price.

    Great demonstration...I just bought the Donner Noise Killer...and it's made my Seymour Duncan Hot P-90s a lot more pleasant to play

    • @Sydoncid

      That’s the reason I’m looking into one. I have a Gibson Les Paul 50s reissue that came with P90s. Love the sound, but that buzz sometimes kills the vibe. Hope this will be a cheap fix to that problem.

    You don't need this pedal...
    until you do.
    Then it will immediately become your favourite one, I can assure you!

    This pedal is very good. I like the way it fades the note out as it dies away instead of just cutting it off, even on the fast setting. It made it very easy for me to dial in enough reduction to totally kill all the noise in my rig without messing up playing dynamics.

    Thanks for the review. I just bought one as a last resort to attempt to get rid of horrendous 60 cycle hum (on all guitars & amps) and it's a miracle cure, works brilliantly. I then just turn up the threshold to get rid of the overdrive & distortion on songs where I'm using them.

      +bentertainment115 Thanks heaps for the nice comments Ben I am really enjoying the green screen thing too. Noise gate pedals are pretty handy but it's all about what you need. If you play in a really buzzy place then it's a good thing to have that's for sure.

  • @robertregalado1015
    @robertregalado1015 2 года назад

    Lack natural decay of tone...signal doesn't seamlessly fade away...as with most noise gates. But would be necessary in some situations..would have to live with the decay response tho. Pedal does its job and the price is right.

      @Pedro U yup - it doesn't fix noise... it just hides it! Great for practice and gigging - but, for recording, you'll need to tackle the cause of (excessive) noise

    • @kimmolingonheimo
      @kimmolingonheimo 4 года назад

      @Pedro U Yeah the one pedal I dig is the Electro-Harmonics HumDebugger ( I love my single coils), it does color the tone a bit chorusy/flangery which actually I dont mind at all... doesnt hide the noise but reduces hum!!!check it in youtube!

  • @marcospiezia127

    on a clean, just for getting rid of hiss from single pups, does it alter/colour the tone at all?

    Curious about setting the pedal before OD/Dist

    • @JustAdude291
      @JustAdude291 3 года назад +1

      That's completely pointless, defeats the purpose of using it. Job is to cut out the excessive buss and noise from using high amounts of distortion. The gate goes after the drive/distortion because the drive is pushing the amp harder, increasing the distortion, then the gate comes after to limit and clean up the excess and bring it back to a reasonable level. A good gate too won't suck your tone away and annihilate sustain.

    What's the difference between this pedal and say a compressor pedal like mxr dyna Comp?

    • @Lagmire
      @Lagmire 7 лет назад +3

      Preston Reitsma this is a noise gate, meaning that it closes the signal to the amp unless a certain volume reaches it and "opens" the gate. It does nothing to affect the sound.
      A compressor is an effect pedal that affects the dynamic range of the signal, which does effect the sound.
