  • Work is proceeding on the construction of the Converter Station at Carrigtwohill. This will convert the electricity imported from France via a 500km subsea cable from Direct Current to Alternating Current. It will then be fed into the National Grid and it is expected to be operational by 2026. The interconnector will be the first direct electricity link between Ireland and continental Europe.
