At which point 5:14? If so I was out of all of my dominoes that point. And before that there were no other blanks played.

very true. sometimes you risk it but a general rule of thumb is not to send them too early..unless you have the perfect hand.
What if you had the perfect hand but didn’t have the rock to start first
Great question, look for ways to apply pressure and watch what your opponent is doing closely. I’ll make a video on this
