Been playing this about 2 hours a day since it came out last Friday. Absolutely sublime, one of the best VR experiences ever! I never completed the game on flat screen, because I knew this was coming... If valve made a HL3 like this only with HL:Alyx graphics etc. it would be an absolute dream!
Exactly. In a sense this is even better than hla because it doesn't restrict the player as much. Hla was catered towards new players so much. It's more or less the half life 1 of vr. Indeed, we need the half life 2 of vr. Bonelab will probably fill it's shoes for now.
I would still like a new lore, like HL2 had a complete new world from HL1. But if they go into the snow, Borealis and stuff, all of this with VR mecanics, i would be ok
I'm 60 years old and I have been playing Half-Life games since they came out in 1998 on the windows. I've been played Half-Life 2 on the original Xbox when it was released for console in 2005, so I've played plenty of mods since then. This is the best mod of all time, and if you install the comic book mod textures it's like a whole new Half Life VR game has been released.
Hallelujah! Awesome to see that my son will now be able to enjoy HL2VR the way I enjoyed HL2 years ago. People forget how revolutionary the enemy AI was when HL and HL2 were published. Overnight, enemies went from madly charging at you along the quickest route, to using squad tactics to surround and ambush you, and even retreat and regroup when wounded. It was a whole new era in gaming, and 18 years after HL2, games have only evolved marginally.
This is the best. I love that you can switch off immersive ladder climbing and stuff to make it fun for everyone. About 10 hours in now. Runs like a dream om rtx 2070 with valve index 10/10
@@user23867 That's great - and like I said - it IS fun! I played Half Life 2 when it first came out, but as a flat screen port I found some of the gameplay a bit awkward. H:L Alyx seemed much more intuitive to me (you can tell it was designed specifically for VR). Cheers!
@@chris_stacey Yeah, you can definitely tell it's an old source game, it does not feel as playtested and polished as alyx. That being said, it's still great.

Hi, I'm new to you Channel and looking into VR for a purchase. I notice you're walking around.. freely in HL2 VR. Is that right? I mean the awful thing I mostly see, is ppl on a rail for movements or ppl point and click. But you in HL2 seem to be rocking the gaming, moving when you want and very importantly to where you want .. via thumb-stick controller to walk in VR game.. guessing, am I right. Thanks for posting, how to hear a reply.
Some VR-specific games use a variety of movement modes, such a free movement (like seen here and in HL: Alyx), teleporting (point and click) or "on a rail" where you've got one clearly defined path to travel. It usually gives you the option of what movement mode you prefer. Since many people find VR disorienting or nauseating, they'll opt for the simpler teleporting movement mode since it doesn't cause motion sickness. However, free movement is still an option a lot of the time. it all comes down to preference, I guess.
I am getting so tired of this...if it's air link for pcvr, it's not ON the quest 2. You really love doing that but, I'm sure Jesus is cool with you using clickbait.
