One of my favorite bits in Spaceballs (one of many to be honest) where Michael Winslow (radar tech) finds out the radar has been jammed! He is AMAZING at doing sound effects!

When I was a kid, I didn't realize, that Michael Winslow made these sounds himself
When I was a kid I didn't realize that was Michael Winslow from the Police Academy, I must have not paid attention.
Now that I'm watching it again, It's obvious cause nobody can make those weird noises without moving their lips like this guy lol
I did because my dad told me at the time and who he was.

Winslow *barely* holding his laughter when Moranis throw the mic. This scene probably done more than one take.
I had to rewatch it - his voice almost breaks, you can almost hear him laugh. Didn't notice that before.
It was for the sound effects he did. They kept the laugh in.

If you listen close, you can hear Michael Winslow (the radar guy) struggling not to laugh when he says "I'm having trouble with the radar, sir" for the third time.
Well, lets see you try to pull this off without laughing, because i sure as hell couldn't
It's hard to believe they kept their composure for most of the movie.
That's not all he's lost
That’s because they were professionals.
I'd never noticed how after 1:40 Helmet is nudging the Colonel out of the shot, and the colonel looks up, notices the camera, and quickly dodges away so Dark Helmet can have his dramatic shot.
Sense its a parody comedy. It was part of the script. Mel Brooks does studio scenes for some reason.
But you just noticed…
I first watched this movie 25 years ago and have watched it again at least half a dozen times since then.

When I first saw this movie, I didnt realize he was doing all the sound effects. What made me laugh was the fact that on this supermodern battleship, theyre using the same crappy public address system they use at supermarkrts or clothing stores.
Yeah because remember, even in the future nothing works...
Watch the first three Police Academy movies. Michael Winslow was awesome in those movies

My friends and I are doing a Star Wars DND. I was role playing as one of the technicians on their ship, and they lost radar so, naturally, I say "I lost the bleeps, I've lost the sweeps, and I've lost the creeps." They go "the what, the what, and the what?" one by one, and it was amazing.

30 years later, and that part also still kills me. The way Helmet just goes off on the intercom when it's not even being used, because Radar Tech sounds like he's still talking into it = priceless.

1:02 I love how he used the loudspeaker radio in front of them, and after colonel took it away from him, he said "Having trouble with the radar sir" as he was still talking through the loudspeaker despite it being taken away from him.
The reverse happens in the desert. Dark Helmet has a bullhorn and uses it to talk to Colonel Sandurz right next to him, but he shouts with nothing but his hand next to his mouth when checking on the troops.
That shit fucking killed me 😂😂😂

That appears to be even funnier when we see how Helmet makes him know of the camera approaching.

+1MORTAL_CH1CKEN I guess that's why Helmet touched him in the chest to say "back up" or, with Mel Brooks being the director he might have hand signaled him to say "get back" which is why he looked at the camera and leaned back.

Although Michael Winslow had a very minor role in this movie but his parts are always pretty funny.
More memorable than some of the new Star Wars characters
You also gotta love how Michael Winslow just went "SHIT!" after doing the "SSSSSSSSSS" of the radar shutting off from the jam. XD This is why Spaceballs is so hilarious; the fact it can do such funny moments so subtle but so effective. :)

In these 2 minutes I count about 13 jokes, depending on what you consider individual jokes there might be more or less for you.
With my count of 13 there's 6,5 jokes per minute, about 1 joke every 10 seconds.

Clay Old definitely. A New Hope is poorly acted by any standard, only beloved because of it’s plot (copies from Kurosawa’s movie) and special effects. Empire Strikes Back is the only legitimately good Star Wars movie for me.

No matter how times I watch this, this was well done of staging three jokes in one script. Always funny
Sadly, this is how people usually describe overweight people who passed away, while this is often exactly why they passed away: Their heart was too big, their ventricles dilated, their coronary arteries no longer able to supply the enlarged heart, leading to parts of it dying and thus stopping the heart altogether.
Just saying, even if the sentiment is well meant, it would be way better to NOT be a big person and have a big heart and instead get to live into your 90s and not die of a heart attack in your sleep when you are 43. If not for your own sake, think about your kids and family.

One of my favorite unsung bits of this scene is where Moranis rips a bunch of objects off of the desk, and that somehow makes the radar tech's voice go back to normal.

Never understood why Winslow didn't get more work outside of the Police Academy movies.

Yes. I think this movie was the main inspiration for The Last Jedi.

This is what makes this movie so great, those little details you see after watching it 50 times
You can hear Michael Winslow's voice start to break into a laugh right after Rick Morranis clears the console in anger.
Yeah, the way his voice wavers just lightly on the word ‘sir’ is a telling sign of just how badly he wanted to laugh at that. xD

How can Dark Helmut already know Lonestar well enough to identify him from a particular jam, when much later on Lonestar states the moment they face each other in the end is the "first/last time" they have even met.
Met, yes. However, huge chance they have battled or crossed paths in the past.
Maybe he's heard about Lonestar before from rumors and figured someone like Lonestar would do this based off of his personality?
There's a huge difference between having known someone and having met them in person. Think of it like a Long-Distance Relationship of sorts if you follow the metaphor.
A major theme of this movie was to parody existing screen sci fi. It would be entirely fitting for that to be an intentional plot hole

Space Jammed!
Bug Bunny...Bugs Bunny... say, does he have great big long ears, like this? Does he hop around like this? And does he say “What’s up, Doc?” like this, “Nahhh, what’s up, Doc?” Nope. Never heard of him.
This scene does so much thats just amazing, first of all they literally "jam" the radar, the guy makes funy noises with his mouth and they make a funny 4th wall joke by bumping into the camera, and this all happens in 1 minute and 57 seconds.
Funniest moment beside Yoda's phlegm IMO.
I love how everyone behind him didn't really care and just get back to work when he fell. 😂
I like the scene where he rams head-first into the bulkhead and then says, "smoke 'em if you got 'em." when he regains consciousness.

Every time I see Dark Helmet throwing away all that stuff from the desk I laugh so much!

Best scene ever in Spaceballs!
There are SO many great scenes in the movie, so the competition is tough, but this is in the top ten. Other top scenes are Dark Helmet's first entrance, ludicrous speed, the videotape scene, the Dark Helmet vs Lone Star battle including "I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate", Youghurt's merchandizing, the airshield combination, the beaming scene... Fabulous movie. Sure there are a few hit-and-miss jokes and some cheap under-the-belt stuff but that is very little and IMHO easy to ignore when there are so many really, really good gags.
