darkdeath evilman will forever be the funniest name for an antagonist in any piece of fiction. its a level of subtlety that not even kojima himself could express
fun fact the henchman that help you fight are based on the original shocker henchmen from the 1970s kamen rider tv show, its why i love this game and why im glad it got a switch port
ZHP was a game I enjoyed a lot back on the PSP, but I did remember reaching the end of the main story and not wanting to put myself through the steps for postgame people were outlining. The emphasis on crafting exceptional gear to handle a lot of it, that's pretty antithetical to the roguelike intention of accepting losses and setbacks. When you can lose gear you literally need to replay the entire game to get back, that just means you do indeed turn to savescumming, and the roguelike factor kinda vanishes. Anyway, looking forward to D5 or any other NIS game you tackle next!
honestly I get that, it was a big stressor knowing I could lose any of that equipment at a moment’s notice if I got just a little careless (I actually did lose a lv99 G-Darkdeath piece pretty early on and didn’t realize until I had saved over my files, I didn’t end up needing it but it was still a big bummer)
All hail the gamefaqs guides 🙌 May the guide makers have cool pillows to sleep on, wake up on time for work, and are able to find their lost pair of socks they've been looking for Great video by the way. I always wanted to try Nippon Ichi Software games, but their catalogue is one of the biggest. I got my eyeball on ZHP in particular now tho 😁
YES YES YES. Stuck at the office but running this joint as soon as I get home. Bless up. I love this game so much but I’ve never been crazy enough to dive into its true depths. Adore your channel.
as someone whos playing the PSP VERSION yeah the zombie theory is practically used as one of the mastery dungeons does HAVE The factory zombie gimmick which is the much easier way to farm zombies as you can pick it up as soon as you get a single card. also energy saver and THAT appetite engine can cut your energy loss to literal zero so using skills or doubles would be the only way to drain
0:33 has the same energy as Mon-Yu: Defeat Monsters And Gain Strong Weapons And Armor. You May Be Defeated, But Don’t Give Up. Become Stronger. I Believe There Will Be A Day When The Heroes Defeat The Devil King.

to me i really like GFP.i do much prefer ZHP but GFP has its niceties too. as for the sequel.....yeah no i really do not have any good memories of that
the dengeki stuff is pretty fun overall the PSP VERSION is just better if your not gunning 100% but powerlevelling is much easier due TO access to dengeki card(a certain magical index) which is where you can find the fusion gimmick and also a costume that gives you 50% to all resistances. also in the caravan and some floors you can find some equipment which is obviously from stuff like weapons and stuff being from collabs which you wont find in the final version and this collab stuff is also extremely good. i did look for mods of zhp but i dont find any dengeki related mods sadly
from what I’ve read, the PSP version is just better bc it has more content, the ports are largely unchanged except for the removal of the dengeki stuff sadly
Including a mechanic that makes you drop everything after a game over in an NIS game where you have to min-max is just cruel and unusual. As is the chance for springs to make you lose an item forever.
Welcome to Mystery dungeon games. Not every game makes you lose everything(say, some only shred half of your stuff), but the endresult is always the same where the loss is so great that you may as well stop playing if it happens(This is what made me stop playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Sky). I genuinely think this is the biggest issue with this subgenre, there is literally nothing fun about it. The punishment for failure is already having to start the dungeon from 0, so what the heck is this for?
@lpfan4491 losing your stuff is annoying, but I'm used to it. The problem is that the ways to get stronger that this game provides don't feel like they were designed with the mechanics in mind. Instead of leveling up a weapon by using it, it actively becomes worse. Instead of keeping your equipment, you have to throw it into a pond and leave it to chance if it becomes better or missing. Instead of having a bank, you have to invest money on a home that constantly drains it to unlock more QOL. Instead of selling unwanted items to get more money for the home, you have to hoard them to actually upgrade your main weapons that you could actually lose forever if you play the game as intended.
@soulwarrior_ex1140 I’ve heard very mixed things about the other ones haha, it’s got me really curious. I own both of them and hopefully I get the chance to check them out soon
"ZHP" certainly brings back memories. I think it might actually be the first traditional mystery dungeon game I've ever played. First actual would probably be "Baroque Remake" but that's more action-based. What a way to get into the sub-genre. And I mean that positively. So many of these are known for being rather difficult or unforgivingly mean (looking at you "Izuna"). So starting with any entry that still rewards me upon losing a run, while still frustrating due to losing resources, meant I was still making progress. So as long as I kept trying, I'd get through it eventually. A very fitting feeling if I may. So yeah, I never completed the original PSP version, not even close. I think I got about halfway with the Dengeki dungeons and kind of got lost in trying to obtain all of the unique character-specific parts. Without utilizing guides mind you. Not to mention this was all way before my now semi-completionist mindset. But I did get more into its spiritual successors. It was only a few years back where I went and completed (i.e. platinumed) "The Guided Fate Paradox" as well as "The Awakened Fate Ultimatum" for whatever that one's worth. I guess there's also the "Void Terrarium" games but they are very much their own things. "TGFP" at the very least is very much like "ZHP" though still somewhat different at the same time. I'm actually wondering which is harder to complete. From the sounds of it, "ZHP" isn't too bad since you can get ultimate equipment relatively easily so I'm leaning towards "TGFP", even with the fact it has an infinite EN bug to abuse. The end game there is just brutal, especially that final super boss. Can't wait to see a video from you on this one eventually. When the day comes, good freaking luck.
@@shadowmaksim ZHP was my first mystery dungeon game as well! I wouldn’t be opposed to exploring more of them, and I absolutely want to play GFP at some point. I had a really great time with this one
