Secrets from a Girl whose Seen it All “,and “Mood Rings “ are my favourite tracks, but there aren’t really any tracks I dislike! I’m quite perplexed by some of the overwhelmingly negative critiques of the album as I find the whole thing so pleasant and relaxing overall.
It’s so Magical and Sounds Sophisticated, it’s like i’m walking in a museum and everything has its own story and feeling…. And the 60’s with the early 2000’s track and of course her poetic lyricism, So Unique, A Masterpiece that i never heard or my soul is finding for this whole life. Thank you Lorde for making my life meditated. ☀️💛
I agree. She's one of the few new artists that my nieces and I enjoy. I think she does a good job with catering to both adult and kid audiences. i think she'll havea long career.
ur reaction and analysis is absolutely perfect. i’m very happy people appreciate and understand the amount of work she puts into her music. they carry such raw meaning it’s beautiful. she’s a real artist who doesn’t value commercial success. so much respect for her👌🏻
People who were critiqueing this album don't know the difference between music being bad or music being different. This was a stellar record and three days later, all the songs are attached to my mind.
Your surprise reaction when you listen to some of the tracks. So cool when you start smiling. Lol Awesome, love this album. It’s a saviour to me if Lorde likes it or not.😆🙏🏼😇

You really did pay attention to details. Besides, your sensitivity clearly helps you deliver an accurate analysis. Loved it!
I am loving the sound of this album too! I'm 29, maybe we are the same age? cause these songs have a very nostalgic sound to me, very late 90s, early 00s, I feel a certain Dido vibe, specially on Mood Ring
Great analysis as always, Eric! I personally wasn’t as enchanted with this album as I was with her other two, but I think that’s more based on my sonic preferences. However, I very much enjoyed what she expressed lyrically on this record - especially with the theme of disillusionment. I think a lot of our generation is currently experiencing what she referenced in the late 60s with the youth rejecting older ways of thinking and wanting to usher in social change - all the while feeling burned out and searching for different means of escape (travel, sex, drugs, etc). My favorite songs were the same as yours - particularly Mood Ring. For what to listen to/make videos for next I don’t know if you’ve ever thought about doing an in-depth analysis of M.I.A.’s entire music catalog, but I adore all of her albums (particularly Arular and Kala), and I think you’re one of the few RUclipsrs who could really do her music justice when reviewing it! Keep up the great work :)
Dominos, Fallen Fruit, Secrets From A Girl, Mood Ring are probably my favorite tracks. I think it’s a pretty enough and pleasant enough album. I’m here for the more stripped down, folksy sound. But it’s also kinda background music-like. And some of the song-writing leaves a bit to be desired. While her attempts at social satire are a bit flabby. Still a decent listen.
You need intellect to fully understand lordes logic, her writing is immaculate, u sound entitled as if shes supposed to be writing for u and contradictive in your comments, please be real
@@denisetewhata2513 Her writing isn’t that damn complex. We’re not talking about Joanna Newsom here. While I listen to a lot of “alt girls”. So, honestly, your comment is insulting. I think the project is a bit undercooked and misguided and lacks personality. While if you actually listen to a lot of music in the vein of this album (stripped down and folk-y pop), it doesn’t come off that unique. I’m not sure if Lorde really has the intellect, wit, creativity, personality, voice to pull it off. It is a perfectly pretty and pleasant listen though.
Great analysis! This album is perfection. I'm totally in love with the way you catch all the details, it's really fun to watch. Another hug from Brazil✨
I think that she's a great artist. She's going to have a long career. She reminds me of Alanis Morrisette and Natalie Merchant, and Jewel. All 3 experimented with both pop sounds and rock sounds. I like her quite a bit, however, I kind of find her new music video to not be as powerful as her first two albums.
California is kind of boring and the second part of the disc have much songs that work better if they were put separated. I think all songs are cool, but for an album with 12 tracks, I wish it have more strong ones. She should made a 10 songs album, without California, maybe also without Dominoes (I like that one but Leader of a New Regime it's already a great ironic interlude to the more ironic Mood Ring) and I think SP would be even better like an Outro, after Oceanic Feelings. At all, I think it's a 80/100 work.
i feel like you tried too hard to "understand" the concept of the album when it's really clear and kinda basic like lorde and jack said that everything you need to know it's in the lyrics like your interpretation of fallen fruit being about fame but it's very clear in the lyrics that she is talking about human race and how we have fucked up the planet and might have to leave earth with a bag of seeds to other planets so humans don't get extinct but i liked the video you really go off when it's about interpretation and that's nice
My thoughts exactly! I've heard this album now a few times, but as much as I want to love this album much more and consider it a masterpiece, which I know Lorde can do, I keep noticing that tracks 7 to 10, which are far from bad, obviously, they're just "good"... and not really magnificent like the others. I still like the album in its totality, don't get me wrong, but I feel like if this record had only 9 or 10 tracks, it would've been easily be the best album of the year for me.
My thoughts when i first heard it but after like my 5th listen those tracks in the album needed to be in there, its making it balanced. And it’s really like a diary and i love it. And the 60’s feel to it is insane 💛 And those 7-10 tracks became my favorite tbh, That man with the axe, holy its so good ☀️
I refuse to tolerate any Big Star (track 9) slander here lol. Seriously though, a lot of people don’t like tracks 6 or 7 to 10, but I think they fit the entire album really well!
No. Especially not Big Star. That is an important song in Lorde's journey to what the album has become. Just say y'all want big pop songs and go. Go back to listening to Melodrama if that's the case for you.
I really feel like once you start mainly writing about being famous you are in a little bit of trouble. How many people relate to being famous? This is why a lot past rock stars have famously gone off to far away places to get inspired by other things.
What's your favorite song on Solar Power? :)
All of them lol
Fallen Fruit and Secrets From a Girl are tied for my favorites. So sonically pleasing.
Fallen Fruit for sure.
Mood ring and the path
oceanic feeling, the path, and fallen fruit!
Your face it's kind of delightful to watch while you are listening the songs. Hugs from Brazil
Omg me too, secrets from a girl whose seen it all, mood ring, the fallen fruit and stoned at the nails saloon

"The line 'you wanna say hi to everyone' is a very dog behavior."
I'm not gonna even say anything. Just bark.
It’s because Big star is about her dog

same i love this album so much
agree
True, they’re too stupid that she’s making melodrama 2.0, those critics are bunch of clowns 🤡

Thank you so much! I'm 23, so the music of the late '90s/early aughts reminds me of my early childhood. :)
@@ericmason6540 same! I'm a little older but I hear you, it's the type of sound I grew up with
Hi Eric! I would love to hear your analysis for Joni Mitchell's album "Blue" which inspires much of the music you react to!
What a wonderful reaction❤️🇳🇿💯

I love the way your mouth moves when you speak! when I see you speak, you have a warm smile ... I feel welcomed.
You're one of the best underrated reaction channel ever! Your analysis are always on point
I couldn’t focus because your smile got me like this 😳
Great analysis! This album is perfection. I'm totally in love with the way you catch all the details, it's really fun to watch. Another hug from Brazil✨

My fav songs are The Path, California, Mood ring, Stoned at the nail salon, Secrets from a girl ♥️

Ok but who has the best song titled "California", Lorde, Lana del Rey, or Grimes??? 🤔
Joni Mitchell

I love Lorde but the only right answer is Grimes
Joanna Newsom or Joni Mitchell
Dominoes. A chill vibe that puts me in a good mood even though it's about an ex
Can you please react to & analyze Clairo’s “Sling”? I love your analysis, much love ❤️
I've already heard Sling, and I love it! Hopefully I'll get to talk about it more soon. :)
@@ericmason6540 Yayy! Can’t wait! ❤️❤️

I really like the album
you are very handsome, just saying
Great analysis. And THANK YOU for not ascribing the success of this album to Jack Antonoff. This is a LORDE album. :)
dude, you have a god tier set of teeth

The album would be perfect if track 7-10 can be removed

How many people relate to being famous? This is why a lot past rock stars have famously gone off to far away places to get inspired by other things.
Why should she be relatable? She is not making art for her fans, she is just telling us her emotions and thoughts.
