That’s Our Lamp is my absolute favorite, it’s such a cathartic like “cry-dancing” song. It’s so heartbreaking hearing the first verse and chorus about how she knows that her partner loves her but she feels that they just don’t like her the way they used to anymore. I can’t stop listening it’s so good
That's Our Lamp is definitely my favourite. I love me a sad bop. I just wish it were a bit longer. That's an issue I have with most of Mitski's songs actually. Working for the Knife and Heat Lightning come right after.
Amazing analysis, we as listeners tend to linger everything to romantic love, but this video proves that Mitski goes beyond that, it's more about her inner struggles and her relationship with art. Pretty good album, my favorites are Love Me More, The Only Heartbreaker, and Heat Lightning. Although I must confess that I miss her more rockish sound present in her previous works. Keep up the good work, Eric.
