It's weird that people are so split on this album. So many people think it's her best, and a lot of people think it's her worst.
it's definitely the most expiremental one, it stands out in her discography as the most "non-ariana" album maybe that's why it's so polarizing within the fandom. (i personally think it's her best)

she should've worked with Max and Ilya only. Max is a hitmaker and produced masterpieces like 1989. This album could've been her best, but she lost her way in the middle of her work.
Isah but Pharrell produced a full album. She was the one that took it to Max, and made new songs with his team. She should’ve did a Side A and Side B album and left Pharrell’s vibe alone. It’s a 2 tone album that doesn’t mix well. I actually like the Pharrell songs better but to each its own.

I loved the songs that *weren't* produced by Pharell. I feel like they match Ariana's voice & style more. I think that the album would've done better without Pharell.

If she did it without pharrell I honestly think it would have been more boring. I dont want Ariana to keep recreating the same sound over and over in each album because it gets old. I think its good she is experimenting and she will improve her sound in her future albums. Ariana even said she made sweetener because she didnt want to be like everyone else on the charts so I think working with Pharrell was a good decision because he made it unique and something that not many other pop artists have done.

Fun fact : R.E.M was meant to be for Beyoncé there’s a demo for Beyoncé’s version but Beyoncé must have gave it to ari for Ari’s album
Pharrell produced it with/for Beyoncé for her self-titled album (2013), she ended up discarding it and I think he kept it with him. Then, 5 years after, Ari and Pharrell worked together and he probably showed this to her. And the rest is history ✨
I'm kinda glad Beyonce passed on it, the song doesn't fit with her aesthetic anyway.

I feel like this is gonna be a grower for most people. It's different and that's why it threw people off of it I think. The style I think I generally supposed to be more layed back. It's less pop than everything else she's done, and again, it just isn't what her fans are used to. I personally think this is my favorite album of hers. People are really on the fence at the moment, and of course everyone has different tastes, but give it time and a few more listens. She worked hard on this one.

It definitely took a few listens for me to love it. At first I was like oh no, Pharrell, what is you doin? But I love all of them now. It’s just different from what everyone usually expects from her like you said.

Ariana did some pretty good stuff on this album but I feel like the album as a whole is kinda all over the place like yea this album is different, but the songs are not only different from each other, they come from different galaxies
Finally, a genuine and transparent review of Sweetener album. I’ve been a hardcore ariana tot since FOREVER. Loved every single songs on ME (My Everything), DW (Dangerous Woman), YT (Yours Truly) and even her unreleased songs. I loved them all. But on the day the album released. I listened to the entire album in one go, trying to feel it uk? But I already lost it at ‘blazed’. Honestly, this album is properly promoted and hyped. Slowly releasing TOP tracks like NTLTC, GIAW and oh well, Light is Coming one by one. Hyping the audience so so much. I was really looking forward to this album. But some songs just dont hit the spot you know what I mean? On the other hand though, she did try and experience AND venture into different music styles and vibes. Something she’s never done before. DW was such a lit album, every single songs are FUCKING amazing but it’s all v pop-ish, edm-ish kinda feel. But THIS album. SWEETENER, contains sooo much emotions and messages she want to convey to her fans and general audience. Raindrops, GIAW, NTLTC, Breathin are all instant hooks. REM, Goodnight n go, Pete are such melodic, slow and mellow songs, with goodnight n go has that electronic-ish feel BUT v soft at the same time. Get Well Soon has the most beautiful and uplifting lyrics, that speaks from her experience and trauma from last year. The song includes 40 seconds of silence in honor of ppl of Manchester. The song duration lasts for 5.22 , the date of when the Attack happened. So much details and effort were put into this album and I can’t just not like it you know? Personally, I don’t really dig Borderline, Blazed and Better off. The rest are fine to me.
I’m trying to adapt to this new album of her, not an instant hook of addiction, but ik I’ll slowly grow into liking, and eventually loving it.

I personally love the new style. Such a chill RnB influenced vibe, mixed with some true pop bops. Such a good piece of work. I just think majority of her fans expect into you, Bang Bang 24/7 and I’m glad we finally got this side of her

I disagree. I see what you're saying and I wanted a lower voiced Ari album but what I've heard still blows. I hate this album so much I'm calling it a mixtape/prequel to AG4 but that's just me.
