Using the elevator cannot be compared to eating pig. Stealing, lying, murdering etc. Etc. Are sins. Not to pray is a sin. An elevator is a form of transportation and that's how we use it. how is an elevator even classified as a secluded place? Anybody can call the elevator at any time, and most of them have cameras. Obviously we should follow the hadith but I am troubled on how an elevator is the same as a private locked room or the inside of a car which is locked.
I interpreted that Hadith as a warning that temptations will be high under such circumstances (though I'm not saying you're wrong - maybe I'm wrong), but yeah, I do agree that a dysfunctional elevator could escalate things real quick. As a woman, that's definitely not a situation I'd want to be in.

A lot of poor excuses people using to not follow the ruling of being alone with the opposite sex. You have to use quran and sunnah to determine what the messenger peace be upon him and his companions attitude to this situation would've been. You can easily determine that the messenger peace be upon him would NEVER have gotten into a lift alone with a non mahram woman next to him. A lot of pathetic excuses here to change the ruling. It's a sin. Simple as that. Just do your best. But stop making excuses
@_star_wish_ no sir. It's up to us to give ourselves directives based on what we know of the messenger from the sunnah and Quran. We know that he peace be upon him was never alone with a non mahram woman, therefore we ask ourselves in uncertain matters what we think the messenger peace be upon him would do, because if we determine that, then we determine the best answer. So when I think a question like this I could ask myself what would the messenger peace be upon him do? I know that he would never be alone with a non mahram woman, therefore I could determine that being alone in a lift with a non mahram woman is not ok generally. So on my part I would refrain.
Yeah I think that's too much haram policing, in the end you'll be judged according to your personal judgement with the knowledge you had at the time, just do your best and ask for forgiveness and if there are alternatives you get ajr for taking them and it increases your sabr, but to start questioning every single situation especially when you live in non islamic countries is ridiculous because the norms there don't separate genders so you will constantly be mixed with opposite gender in many situations. That's my take.

Maybe another scenario will get you to think, would you be okay with your daughter being alone in an elevator with a random man?
Even if typically nothing would happen, it would 100% be uncomfortable and who knows what each is thinking.
Its pretty obvious that most people understand it and have cameras in them for that very reason.
Well it might not be important to you but there is a very basic way to determine whether something is permissible or not even something as little to you as getting in an elevator with a woman. We can find through the sunnah and evidence that the messenger peace be upon him or him companions would NEVER have gotten into an elevator alone with a non mahram woman. This is haram. It is at least worth accepting that much and moving on and trying to do the best we can with the knowledge we learn through life.

It's elevator, not prison cell
The sheikh mentioned a hadith and the ulama has even said that it is haram to be secluded with a woman the time does not matter. If you ate pig for a second would it be haram, ofc so something that is haram is haram we dont change what allah has ordered
Using the elevator cannot be compared to eating pig. Stealing, lying, murdering etc. Etc. Are sins. Not to pray is a sin. An elevator is a form of transportation and that's how we use it. If you intentionally invite the opposite gender in a room, not the elevator a room, then the intentions are wrong and it leads to sin.

Okay so Who determines what is extreme and what isn’t? Is it you?
One point missed there's always a camera in an elevator so thechnically some one is still watching and kind of is with you all the time
And if that person goes to the bathroom? Looks at a different screen? Too many technicalities to accept this as a third person. Additionally not all elevators have cameras
I don't think there's someone watching at the time. It's all recorded and is played back if there were any incidents.
the most effective camera with illimited memory and which never deletes any image is the one ABOVE
All elevators don't have cameras. I seen plenty that do not. Even in western nations. Not being alone in the elevator is ALSO A PROTECTION FOR THE WOMEN, WHAT IF THE MAN TRIES TO DO SOMETHING BAD WITH HER. ESPECIALLY if he knows there are no cams. Anywhere from a slight touch on the backside to stopping the elevator to do something. ALLAH PROTECT ALL. Ameen
First of not every elevator, second Allah's is always watching then that means it's okay to free mixing ????
how is an elevator even classified as a secluded place? Anybody can call the elevator at any time, and most of them have cameras.
Obviously we should follow the hadith but I am troubled on how an elevator is the same as a private locked room or the inside of a car which is locked.
Bwahaha excellent advise sheikh you keep doing that and gluck to you
I interpreted that Hadith as a warning that temptations will be high under such circumstances (though I'm not saying you're wrong - maybe I'm wrong), but yeah, I do agree that a dysfunctional elevator could escalate things real quick. As a woman, that's definitely not a situation I'd want to be in.
Many elevators have cameras in them. That prohibits people acting on many types of desires.
Still irrelevant. When shaytan plays with you, you forget everything.

What is in case of Emergency or if i am in Rush?
A lot of poor excuses people using to not follow the ruling of being alone with the opposite sex. You have to use quran and sunnah to determine what the messenger peace be upon him and his companions attitude to this situation would've been. You can easily determine that the messenger peace be upon him would NEVER have gotten into a lift alone with a non mahram woman next to him. A lot of pathetic excuses here to change the ruling. It's a sin. Simple as that. Just do your best. But stop making excuses
A Lift, a literal Lift 1400 years ago, are you out of your mind

No I think that if there is 2 women, you double the sin, if 3, triple, 4, quadruple. I think 5, you go directly to jahanam.
Funny how close minded people can be, 😂😂😂😂
Why does that even matter in Islam? If you feel like using a lift, then use it as long as you are not harrassing or making sexual looks at the person you are in with.
Make sure you repent then.
You are neglecting numerous aspects and looking from 1 degree out of 360 degrees. For example, this is a protection from suspicions and it discourages men or women from looking at each other lustfully since they will always be in a congregation and subject to onlookers who may critisize them. Some people can control themselves while others can't, when we prevent the interaction by forbiding the setting the gaze will not fall on that which it doesnt own. Even if YOU control your gaze, some will think the same who are actually flawed from that aspect and fall into sin, because of a fallacy of comparing themselves to others. If you think some, you may infer many reasons and underlying wisdoms.
