We've lost something in recent years that old school gave us, namely conscious politics. Thanks for posting a tune that is even more relevant today. Peace.
Jeru was on some real level hip-hop here folks and he was talking this back in 96'. I miss joints like this man, need some real shit brought back to the forefront.

This song came out like 16 years ago and this song is still applies to todays rappers. This song is a true classic and Jeru has always been one of my favorite conscious rapper. And the people who voted dislike is the people Jeru talking about that `s why they voted dislike.
Criminally Underrated. Hip Hop is Culture not worshiping money. Jeru called out puff daddy, 2pac called out puff daddy. Puff and Suge actually work for the same organized crime family and had Pac and Biggie ASSASSINATED.(Check the L.A. Times article) But so called hardcore rappers don't have the GUTS to speak the truth about the people who have tried to kill REAL HIP HOP which is a movement , culture, art, and many other things. Jeru represents what HIP-HOP is. Real Hip-Hop will never Die.
I swear Jeru has the most original delivery mixed with some of the best lyrics. Combine that with some of the best production Premo has to offer and you have two of the best albums I've ever heard.
one of my favorite songs by jeru!!! he just murders this primo beat. it's like this was purposely made for jeru and no one else. who else could do any justice to a beat like this???
this is timeless.. Its even better now than it was b4 imo. Its just so much more relevant to me than it used to be when i was a kid. Pure genius Jeru. "Knowledge, wisdom and understanding brings long life and health think anything else and ya playin ya self."
jeru dismantled biggie and the badboy crew in this. sun rises in the east> ready to die he wasnt about to rap about material bs and because he wasnt apart of puffs bling era he didnt blow up : / his 07 and 2014 albums are like time machines though!
Big words there (pun definitely intended). I like them both, but in my opinion Ready to Die and The Sun Rises in the East are tied. Both unbelievably great albums. I have some days where I rather listen to TSRITE instead of Ready to Die and vice versa.

@@AntonChigurh- Both albums are good, but Ready To Die had more skippable tracks, IMO. I can listen to The Sun Rises In The East from start to finish. I give the edge to Jeru.
one of the most slept on emcee's out there! all you shinny suit rapper loving cats won't like this but this is real hip hop. shut and listen...and love
Anytime a song can predict the future of Hip hop like this song did that's hands down to me a classic..... Sad truth is what he's talking about just seems to get worse every year.( You fools you work all week to give back the devil his loot for jewels...
I just found a brand new copy of "Wrath Of The Math" on vinyl 5 days ago and it hasn't left my turntable. This is REAL HIP HOP and reminds me of some great times I had in The NAVY back in the 90's. The video is a classic that actually enhances the track, which is a D.J. Premier masterpiece. Criminally underrated artist and LP that was shamefully under-promoted.
one of the most player hated, underrated ,illest mc's of our time, i miss this ill rhymin, brings back memories kid, ask suckers about jeru, theyve never heard of him, i like that, i want his rhymes all to myself. respect
Still to this day say that Jeru is one of the illest in history. Happy to have had to the chance to bump into him at the old Beat Street downtown BK in 97.
Thanks for posting this video, haven't seen it since pop up video aired it like 10 years ago for having the most kicks and karate chops EVER in a music video! Hands down, Premo, Jeru and Afu-Ra was illing back in the 90s!
DAYUM! This is TIMELESS! Jeru should re-release this today. And what is really phucked is someone (who wasn't sayin' much) sampled this joint in the early 90s - I ain't gonna say no names, but those that know, know, and those that don't, don't.Peace!
The funny thing is.... This song is old, but still very relevant. This is hip-hop... Not the commercial/product placement fest we have to listen to today. Thank god for cd's and mp3's....
You are exactly right. True MCs will always speak righteously because they do not always represent "corporate interests." They represent cultural, real life applications. They are the antithesis of "rappers" who will say ANYTHING to sell a record.
Just came across dude 2day on MTV Jams. Hella love his rappin ass style. This is what I always loved about East Coast hip hip. I luv his annunciation...Dude is sick. I'm a new fan.
Haven't seen this in years, good post. I agree with the intelligent rap quote, you don't see art like this around today. It's all about the big willy style nowadays.
One of the most creative & entertaining hip hop videos ever! I remember this back in 96. And his message is more relavent today than ever in this world of carbon-copied rap music which speaks on shallow/overplayed topics that have no conscience.
What a novel concept, speaking english and delivering a message, hello! Nobody would every call Jeru a minstrel like you Soulja Boy and your kind in the game today. Believe that! "You fools".
Yeah Jeruuuuu the Damajaaaaa! Men this guy has so dam nice lyrics! First & second awsome albums produced by Dj Premier, and he made his first step on "I'm the Man" of Gangstarr's Deadly Operations album.
Great song, fun video. Back when videos were still creative. I liked the big money braggin MC's of the day too, but it was cool to hear Jeru do something that would really make you think.
One of the best trax ever!! Sick beat and the message is so true!! What happened to hip hop? Now it's all; ice, bling, big rims, $. I can't relate to that shit, livin like a predator. "what eva happened to the M.C., times done changed for the M.C."
We've lost something in recent years that old school gave us, namely conscious politics. Thanks for posting a tune that is even more relevant today. Peace.
Everybody in the African Community needs to put this song in their i-pod, car stereo, and in your home stereo. I love this GUYS MUSIC!
Intelligent emcee + Dope producer = Straight up Hip Hop! Classic.
Jeru was on some real level hip-hop here folks and he was talking this back in 96'.

Juru da damager is a 5 percentage spiritually supporting reality
The REAL most underrated in the game. He should've easily been as big as Jay Z and Busta and all them.
KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM, UNDERSTANDING
one of my favorite songs by jeru!!! he just murders this primo beat. it's like this was purposely made for jeru and no one else. who else could do any justice to a beat like this???
Still relevant today. Obama should have played this at that speech about the Oregon shootings.
I never knew hustlers confessed in stereo :-)
this is timeless.. Its even better now than it was b4 imo. Its just so much more relevant to me than it used to be when i was a kid. Pure genius Jeru. "Knowledge, wisdom and understanding brings long life and health think anything else and ya playin ya self."
Wrath of the Math is one of my Fav albums of all time!

I could not agree more. Jeru was getting mad love in the early to mid 90's.
Best lyric on this track is....
" I never knew Hustlers confessed on stereo"
Jeru!!! this album is sickness!
My favourite song of all time, even though I love KRS-One more.
Preach it!!! The days of Queen Latifah and Public Enemy are gone. No more education, just empty messages...
jeru can be funky and real at the same time, and those two things alone make him better than 99% of hip-hop
OH MY GODD No way, the place they filmed it is my hometown,Never seen a gangsta rap video that is made in hong kong. Thats soooo dope
+laiyenma Its not gangsta rap... its anti-gangsta rap ;-)
lol
Conscious hip-hop! Peace.

A visionary, that's what he was since most of these things are still valuable for todays so called rappers...
The funny thing is.... This song is old, but still very relevant. This is hip-hop... Not the commercial/product placement fest we have to listen to today. Thank god for cd's and mp3's....
