Yeah, but unlike that episode this episode was scored by Jay Chattaway rather than Ron Jones. Both are excellent composers, it still sucks that Berman canned Ron Jones for being too good at his job.
0:25: Verdi's "Dies Irae" from his "Requiem," anyone? LOL! 2:42: Sounds like a variation of Jerry Goldsmith's theme from "Star Trek: The Motion Picture."
This is such a good piece! Never realizes how good the music is when you just watch the episode.
Absolutely loved this piece
Back when Jay Chattaway wasn’t forced to write wallpaper music for TNG.
Like Boody Trap, this episode's score stands out in the best way - I don't think I heard that panpipe/wooden flute in any other TNG episode.

Actually Chattaway uses the same flute mottif for the Romulans in that episode where Troi is cosmetically altered to look like one
It's 6/30/2024 and I'm envying Tam Elbrun's life choices.

To me 1:00 - 1:14 sounds soooo similar to the theme from the JJ movies.
Hardly surprising, since Goldsmith's TMP theme music is also the TNG theme music.
1:00 - 1:14 sounds like the JJ trek theme
You are right, it does. Giacchino is certainly good at emulating his betters.
@@ThiloAdamitz 1:09 Giacchino literally rehashed that lietmotif for toy story 3, when they're rescued by the landfill claw.
Sounds like Superman.
