I watched this film alone during a stormy night with headphones on, and it was quite an experience. The wind shaking my windows and lightning synchronizing with the movie really amplified the amazing atmosphere. I loved the pacing, it kept me guessing and at the edge of my seat the whole time, until that cathartic ending. One of the best I've seen recently.
"I swear I have two film degrees" looool
Just finished watching this movie and had to see what you thought of it! I loved it myself. The acting, the setting, the camera work, the sound effects, everything was top-notch. This is the stuff nightmares are made of, where something is wrong in some subtle way that you can't put your finger on until it all goes bats**t crazy.
Thanks for the review, Enna. Always appreciate you looking out for us when it comes to these upcoming releases. An atmospheric slow born can work for me if I'm in the mood for that.
I enjoyed this. I was happy, during the more static passages, to live in the atmosphere of the shelter from the storm setting and guess at where it might be going. You're right that it does play like a theatre piece (like Sleuth or A Pure Formality) but I was enjoying that, too. ACMI, in Melbourne, had a few encore screenings of horror movies from MIFF last October (including Late Night with the Devil and Monolith) and this was one of those. Hope they do that again this year. Good even-handed review.
I didn’t know Luna was doing a Wednesday horror night! And they have Nightmare on Elm st next Wednesday. Oh yeah! Thank you for making me aware of this.
Looking forward to streaming You'll Never Find Me. Thanks for the review Emma 👻 !
I was really looking forward to Monolith because I love indie horror in encoded spaces, love aliens, and love Australian horror; unfortunately I was kind of disappointed, mainly because I found all of the "offscreen" voice acting too hammy and over the top for me; I wish they hadn't felt the need to do that, just have confidence in your one actor movie and let your other voices be realistic, even if that risks "boring"
I think a better example of this "type of thing" is The Vast of Night
@@MadailinBurnhopeVast of Night was cool. If you liked that, I recommend pontypool
Oh I loved it, sorry to hear that but interesting feedback. And thanks for sharing your perspective, I love when people actually explain what they don’t like instead of bashing something. Thank you
Thanks for the vast night shout out. I've never heard of it but after looking into it I think I'm going to dig it.
Just watched Ponty Pool that movie was Great I would also recommend the movie sanctuary on Hulu a two person movie set in a hotel room and the movie two on Netflix it's Gory but for me I like Gory movies so that wasn't a problem
Outdoor screenings are so fun! Even when the movie is "meh". Love the sound effects, by the way. :)
I love movies with small casts in isolated locations so Im definitely checking this out. This gives me William Friedkin's "Bug" vibes.
I like those too , have any to recommend?
I would recommend sanctuary it's a 2 person movie set in a hotel room and it's fantastic from Start to finish you Don't have to wait till the end for it to get Good like this movie did and it's on Hulu now
@@rustyshackleford6035 thank you, not looking like something for me tho
The little plushy 🥹💕 it made me so emotional.
Thank you Emma 😊
Hey Em, I just watched this, it's a cracking little horror/thriller with excellent performances from the two leads, great pacing, editing, sound design and camera work. The dialogue is fantastic too. The whole thing just immersed and impressed me from start to finish. I personally love 'slow burn' films when they're done RIGHT and I was not at all bored throughout 🙂 A solid 7/10!
And I'll be sure to check out 'Monolith' as I know you know your onions!
Great pacing 😂, not happened until the last 5 mins.
@@mrgainz7252 Well, for me, I found the pacing to be pretty much on the money for what they were going for. I've sat through 'faster paced' films before and been out of my mind with boredom etc because I couldn't give any less of a shit what's going on
Saw this last night, was fantastic, sound and lighting worked perfectly and story kept me guessing.
Every wind gusts rain kept me on edge last scene scare the he'll outa me
Yay, someone mentioned Monolith!
If I ever feel up for something sloooow I might give this one a spin
That cinema’s horror movie night under the stars ✨sounds epic!
That Wednesday Horror Movie Night looks sooo cool! Also I love that you watched this outdoors but within this cinema??? That sounds so nice ♥ I'll check the movie out.
Sounds interesting. I think I'll add this one to my list!
Love single setting movies/shows! I'm a HUGE fan of INSIDE NO.9, and the movie 12 ANGRY MEN (the original, of course)
Nice review 🎉
I may be made to eat my words but I'm pretty excited about Late Night with the Devil . Hope you get to review it soon Emma ......Fingers crossed !!!
I might put this on right now. At 1am in the UK
I really enjoyed Monolith! It felt almost like a super well done film adaptation of a creepypasta. Great great film. Looking forward to this one!
Am looking forward to stream you 'll never find me movie in thank you for review in reaction Emma
Holaaaaa!! Desde Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Boricua!🇵🇷 👋
You had me at Triler Park
You’re going to love Late Night With The Devil! Saw it last year at a festival and it was a fan favorite!
Damn that's a cool theater 😮
What a fantastic place to see a horror movie. ❤
Agreed!
I loved this movie. Unique and suspenseful. Good acting, too. ❤
So it’s a full movie of the 1st 20 min of Barbarian??
I thought the same!
Nah not similar at all
Absolutely loved this movie! The way they draw out the scenes while they deliver that intense dialogue really amped up the suspense for me. And the score was 👌🏼 As a whole, I think they created something unique and gripping.
Awesome movie,really enjoyed watching it..WOW
That cinema is so cool!
It's a Banger 🔥
Yeah to me it felt like a twilight zone episode that was stretched out to feature length but I did enjoy that climax in the cinema with the visuals and sound elements.
Just caught YOU'LL NEVER FIND ME on Shudder. I thought the atmosphere of it was great. I'm not sure the third act lived up to what had preceded it. Thematically, the film reminded me a lot of 2022's A WOUNDED FAUN, which is less tightly constructed, but is also less of a slow burn and a lot more interesting. They'd make a good double bill. Both are good, but imperfect, low-budget horror films. Ultimately, I think I prefer A WOUNDED FAUN.
Me and my gf just checked out a wounded fawn last night. And holy shit it was boring and trying so hard to be weird and "artsy". For some odd reason we really liked this one better than a wounded fawn.
@@agustinsilva2247 To each their own, I guess!
That interlude beat is sick, what's the track?
I just watched this about 20 mins ago I thought this was a phenomenal film. The tension and dialogue was good.
I’m looking forward to “Late Night With The Devil” & …………
if anyone knows what the next conjuring 4 case study is on can you please let me know? As far as I can tell at the moment there is no information on it and it is kept very hush-hush but I’m sure that will soon change. I have read hundreds and hundreds of the Warren case files so I’m looking forward to finding out which one it’s gonna be and I have a couple in mind that I’m hoping it will be so my fingers crossed.
Ooooooooo Sam Rami & Co are putting another “ Evil Dead” movie together, bring it totally on !!!
😳😳😳😳😂😂
I just finished this. It was good! Very suspenseful
All i know of this movie is the poster.....and all this time i thought that was Jeffrey Wright. Haha
Luna cinema is showing A Nightmare on Elm St this wednesday . Was going to go but the budget doesnt allow it
@poopy_barbie they are a good band
Amazing movie, slow at the start but thats what made it great. A solid 9/10
I really enjoyed this one. Exactly the kind of horror movie I enjoy. Although what was funny about this showing was some dude who sat next to me got up like 20 minutes into the movie and never came back. Guess he didn't like it.
No comment on the film. But, this is off topic since you seem to like a lot of bands I like, Middle Kids are playing live in Australia soon in case you have heard and like them. Just a heads up as a music nerd.
Wait? How do you know what bands I like?
@@spookyastronauts I have heard you mention them in some of your vids like Sigur Ros, Bjork, Bloc Party, among the few I recall. Or I could just be a stalker.....But no I'm too lazy for that :)
@@poopy_barbie or maybe thatJustin Bieber chick
P.s Just one more movie I’m hanging out for (2 actually)
1) another “Silent Hill”
2) “Deep Blue Sea” people have mad another shark movie with a pretty ingenious & original story line that hasn’t been done like this before
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I would so love to hang out with you and talk about horror movies and life. You seem so genuine and cool
seems like the Cloverfield sequel with John Goodman
I thought this movie was amazing! Real horror for once! Not all gore and jump scares (that doesn’t equate to horror for me)
It’s 1hr 40 but didn’t feel it because I was so gripped from start to finish
I still think this should have been in cinemas though
I just watched this movie last night and 1st hour is so sloooow 🦥🐌 I actually fell asleep and when I woke up it was at the part about the cops 😴😳🤯 I went back on the DVD 📀 and finished the movie and loved the 2nd half of the film 😁👍 so I guess I have to give the 1st hour 👎 but the last 40 mins 👍 for a final score of 8 out 10 if you watch the movie Stick with it because it does get Good 😃
just finished watching this flick. holy. shit.
Hey, where can i find Monolith? I’m in the US
It’s streaming on RUclips, Apple TV, Amazon and Google Play but you have to rent it on all of these platforms
8/10 for me
🙋♂️ Emma ! 😊 ( First Comment )
✨✨✨
The ending was not worth it at all. Clearly this was a 15 minute short stretched out to 90.
Well said
I feel like this is discrediting the distrust that builds between the characters and the almost “who done it” eerie atmosphere. It was pretty slow at times although, but I feel ultimately worth it
Felt like 3 hours
❤❤
Omggg Emma I didn’t know you was tatted like that my girl ❤❤❤❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥👏🏽👏🏽🪬🪬😘😘
You'll never find me 2024 or came out in 2023?
2024 wide release but it’s a 2023 release with the film festivals
This movie bothered me........A LOT.
I watched it and im still wondering what the aim of it was...until i understand, its fair to say it was a waste of my 1hour 40mins
The movie is awful! Nonsensical and so predictable!
@@sasapejcin3568 I agree
It's not as slow as The House Of The Devil, is it?
Is anything slower than The House Of The Devil?
You'll never find me was terrible! So so bad
Agree! Utterly predictable and boring crap and not scary at all!
I wasn’t that impressed with Monolith unfortunately
Theres nothing to spoil. Its shit llol
I don't think you gave this film as much respect as it deserves! The pacing is everything: slow, atmospheric horror at its best!
I can already tell from seeing the preview that the guy must have done something bad and the girl is avenging either herself or perhaps a friend. So f*king predictable
Lmfao uh nooooo. You’re way beyond wrong so far off💯💯💯
@@FeezFBaby I am not. The guy is bad, the girl is good. Like always in modern movies. #misandry
Wow, that music is annoying
This movie sucked giant hairy plums Lady & nothing made any sense at the end!
What didn't make sense to you may i ask ?
@@Mohanad204Yeah wtf happened in the end? I’m confused lol
@@FeezFBaby he killed himself with the poison thats it
I'm skipping fast
500$ budget rubbish, don't waste your time
Yeah that movie really sucked
Stop using your giant picture in the thumbnails. It’s annoying.
It’s annoying to see a thumbnail of what the video is about? You make no sense. 90% of all thumbnails on RUclips have a still of the person in the video in them because it shows the viewer what the video is about if there’s a person presenting. Why pick on me?
Just watched it awesome from start to end can't wait for talk to devil and monolith
