I've done this repair the driveshaft is I think 8 bolts front and 8 rear takes not even 15 minutes then pull starter insert new starter and reattach driveshaft an hour tops if you just follow the video on how to do it the recommended way. Just make sure you keep the back and front bolts separated believe it or not they are about 1/4 shorter on one set of them and won't seat right if you mix them up.
Thank you. I'm F senior citizen and old school. Changed on my other trucks-chevy-and thought-ok no problem-3 bolts and done. Then I started watching videos and thought-oh no oOoOO! WTF!!!! Now I have to take it to a mechanic and lay down over half my ss check. But I loved your common sense entertaining video. Made my heavy heart smile for a few...
This wont apply to a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited. The drive shaft is actually not in the way at all. Its located more toward the passenger side. The Limited also takes a larger starter (about 3-5 longer). The Limited alsp has a plug in connection compared to the other Libertys for sending power from the ignition. The starter on the Liberty limited is much easier to replacd. I just replaced mine.
Here is what I did. It varies to your year vehicle. Spacing can be different. I would have made a video but I was swearing to much doing this. For 2004. You can’t sneak it out without removing or detaching something. This job can be a nightmare. For my 2004 Liberty. I removed the clamp to the exhaust / manifold which allowed me to slide the starter out when clamp was removed. I didn’t take my drive shaft off. Small air tool with a 10 mm deep well socket. It’s a pain to work on the ground but I did it. Take nut all the way off. The exhaust will come down plenty to get the starter out. To put the clamp back on. Thread the nut on a turn or two to hold the clamp together. Place the clamp in between joints position the clamp so you can get the air tool up there to drive it home. I used a floor jack to hold the pipe up in its position. Position the jack about in the middle of the vehicle to jack the pipe up just enough to hold tight while you clamp it back together. The big bolts off the back of the starter I Cracked them loose with a stubby socket wrench than used an air tool to take them completely out. You will need a swivel neck adapter and extensions for the angle while using the tool for the big starter bolts. Be prepared to get banged up a bit doing all this. Lol. My biggest problem that held me up was figuring out how to get the exhaust clamp back on. Well this is how you do it. After researching that clamp is not cheap so don’t hack it. Nightmare is over.
Take the 2 bolt out of the shifter cable move it aside .Then a15 mm swivel socket with a long extension then remove bolts .The starter will come right out .Have done many of them this way.
Just mark and remove the drive shaft, it's not difficult and you won't be risking causing a leaky oilpan. why do they make it difficult? I'll tell you why! They do it just to fuck with you! After a car is designed they get all the engineers and designers together to take the time to find ways of making shit harder than it has to be.
It doesn't compute to me to drop the engine oil pan instead of removing the front drive shaft. Removing the shaft is about ten minutes max and won't create an oil leak by disturbing the old oil pan gasket. This is, of course, if the need for an oil pan gasket replacement was present at the time. I'm an avid proponent of getting things out of the way to make a job easier, but this seems about like reaching around the backside of your butt to scratch your balls.
All the time you wasted doing that and could have risked damaging the oil pan I would have taken the driveshaft off and saved a whole lot of time Its best to take the driveshaft off its easier to take it off then take the starter off
Well fuck....me.....running..... I wish I'd watched this vid PRIOR TO literally just now (after hours spent) removing that gods-forsaken drive shaft...FML. U sir, would have saved me a day 👉😑💨
Lmao. This was the most unproductive and inefficient video I have ever seen. Follow the advice given in this video if you want to do twice as much work 😂
you are not suppose to remove the starter because it is design for the life of the engine but you can remove the solenoid switch less work -the bolts is welded and 1/4" drive 10mm sockets 6 points just don`t have the strength but with the solenoid a short phillips will do the job -thanks.

Every one got their own ways hush
do not remove your oil pan bolts to change a starter, on anything .......this video is a great example of what not to do
I solved my issue, all I did was remove the engine, fairly easy, then I was able to remove the starter no problem.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Perfect lolololol. I hate this fucking jeep, just to do an oil change was a mother fucker. It was behind the serpentine belt smdh
I'm in the same boat. That helps alot. You would not believe how many things I've replaced on this damn jeep
But once u done it u have a great jeep no truck car or van its a jeep

Omg wtf....why would u remove the oil pan instead of the driveshaft..😂🤣 I'm done
Smh
3:16 is the best part of the video. Speaking the absolute truth right here.

Would this apply to a 2003 liberty limited?
@@SippinKaFoo more than likely. Judt have to get under and take quick look. Im a big guy and did the repair without jacking up the car

Oil Filter is a nightmare on these as well.
Vinnie did make video the wire and heat shield? Or any other that jeep
Why risk prying and bending the oil pan, or developing a leaky pan gasket? Take the driveshaft out. 20 mins at most.
It takes half as long to pull the driveshaft.
I liked it cus he kept it real.
3:19 same 🤣

Yes indeed, so you HAVE to take to the "stealership" and get ripped off on overpriced parts and labor.

Funny as hell to listen to you
Meatball 885 right on
He sounds like he would be fun as hell to hang out with
Good looking out 👍

Thanks, Carla!
You took the fun out of it
YOU DON'T NEED TO REMOVE DRIVESHAFT ,, OR MESS WITH OIL PAN ... I JUST DID STARTER IN MY GF JEEP.
Less trouble removing the drive shaft.
Lmao. This was the most unproductive and inefficient video I have ever seen. Follow the advice given in this video if you want to do twice as much work 😂
A great video. Very informative.
you are correct.
"Whatever the fuck" like earned
Just think, if you have a leaky oil pan, AND a bad starter, well then! Lol
I loosened the two motor mounts, jacked up the motor, and the starter came right out. After I unbolted it of course.
Id rather remove the drive shaft than the oil pan and gasket. Lol. Shade trees....always think they found a better way. Smh.
Thank you?!!
Lmfao wtf am I watching
I removed the starter without touching the oil pan or driveshaft
How?
ez fix just LS swap the whole thing and then replace the starter
😳🙄i want my 4mins 6 second back this was 🤦🏽♂️so backwards frfr
best Solution sell that Chrysler garbage junk and buy A Japanese car. and you will never have a problem again.

Hercules Tubalado starter solenoids usually cost more than starters
Oooooooooooook?????
Thank you sir you definitely are helping me, also fuck Chrysler
