      I totally agree w/ you Samual H. And Robert is so sexy too. The whole band is lucky to have each other, they are so talented & totally care about playing to their true fans. I enjoy & appreciate that Robert pushes to do his slower gothic emotional songs, & I actually started out on those w/a found homemade copy of the album w/Lullaby, Disintegration, Plainsong, Facination Street, Prayers For Rain, Lovesong & a bunch of others & on the other side was 3 Imaginary Boys, 10:15 on a Saturday Night, & some songs from other albums. I fell in love with them right away & started seeking out more music from them. I didn't favor all of the songs I heard, but I certainly got a good assortment & variety to see how versatile they are! I just recently heard some real old stuff that was kind of punky & had a lighter sound when they 1st started out & I wasn't fond of those particular songs or the sound, but in some other songs I had no idea were as old as they were either, because I didn't discover them until around 89 or 90. And I loved those songs. I love their pop, fast danceable tunes: Throw Your Foot, Lovecats, Close To Me, Mr. Pink Eyes, Why Can't I Be You?, Boys Don't Cry, Someone Else's Train & so many more- but slower ones. I just discovered more on utube- (After he lost his Mom). It Will Never Be The Same song- very sad & emotional video w/him crying. He is such a musical genius, has such integrity & is a sweet & gentle man. Easy to fall in love with him, his voice, & his personality & I love to hear him talk as well as sing! His voice hasn't changed after all these yrs! He Sounds Just Fantastic.And hecstays true to himself & his goals/agenda. Listen to his interviews on shows & other places- he talks more. I was impressed- I had no idea he was so humble & just sweet. They Are The Best Band Ever! I would love to meet Him, only saw them once in 96 & would love to see them again, before they stop touring.

      Corey Mullis The idea of a sixty-something multi-millionaire who releases an album every five years being in any way “punk” is absurd. I’m not saying I don’t like him, but come on; let’s be real here. He’s about as punk as Bradley Walsh.

    • @telemat
      @telemat 4 года назад +17

      @@markofsaltburn I don't think being punk has something to do with how much you have in your bank account, that nobody really cares for. It's more about your attitude towards life and how you cares for what really matters. Robert Smith hasn't really changed in 40 years, still wearing the same clothes, still curious about his passion, music, still thinks his music is relevant, and still brings to the world what punk brought to us: sense of humility, integrity and honesty, all we need to face the truth in life.

    I'm of an age where I get nostalgic about the music of my youth, especially The Cure.
    I saw them back in 1989 at the SECC in Glasgow, Disintegration had not long been released, man was is this a great album, i had everything, Pornography, Faith, Kiss Me, every collectable, 12" , but this was my favourite album.
    Me and a mate saved for months for tickets and a seat on the bus, and promptly got smashed on the way there and continued on in the secc bar, missed almost all of the support band 'Shelleyan Orphan' but bought their album a few days after (not worth it by the way), we proceeded to stand on our seats for the entirety of the concert as everyone else was doing the same. Man it was awesome.
    Then, after a small gap of 29 years, I went to see them in Hyde Park (2018), then Bellahouston Park (2019).
    I'm of an age and means that hopefully, there's still a few more Cure concerts in both me and Robert.
    Looking forward to the new album as well to add to the collection :)

      I saw them in June 89 in Arles, France... my first "real" concert... Had to take the train to go there. So many great souvenirs.
      So many people drunk even before the show (they probably couldn't remember the whole concert). The over extended version of Faith at the end, like a mantra.
      The Shelleyan Orphan as a support band - actually even if we shouted at them to leave so we can see The Cure, I liked their style and bought the two albums afterwards.
      When I saw them again in 1992, it wasn't the same experience... a short concert because Simon was not there since he suffered from pleurisy and left the tour.

      He would hate that..he really dislikes it that celebrities accept honours from the queen. Not his thing at all. David bowie once refused a knighthood aswel.

    No words can properly describe Robert Smith. He and his band are diamonds. I'd love to see them again. Only seen them once though...

    Thanks for posting this. I saw this not long after the NME awards. It was back on my You Tube feed again. This just made my day. Since there have been no live concerts due to Covid, I really miss seeing The Cure. It was great just to watch this again. Love The Cure!!

    Finally getting some of the recognition they deserve!! Took forever for the masses to "GET" what the rest of us Cure fans have known for 40 years!! So glad they are still going strong.. Makes life pleasent..& Somehow I don't feel so "old" !..😜 ...Their live shows are to die for!!! 🏆!!
