This is how Chopin intended this Etude to be. Dramatic and tragic to convey his feelings of Warsaw and his home being taken and destroyed. Rest in peace, Maestro Richter.
Actually no one in the music history has been able to perform this piece so beautifully and emotionally yet. He was the best Chopin pieces performer and still is.
Afshin Ahmadi . Maybe not the best, but one of the best for sure. I like his former version, from 60-ties, he played it with more passion, and this is how you should play it. Passion, pain and fury, it was composed with such intention by Chopin. It's quite ironic, that a Russian pianist played an anti-russian composition in such good way.
I agree this is the best interpretation of this specific piece. But saying he's the best Chopin performer would be very unfair for Rubinstein in my opinion
@@user-ev2hz5dx3m Surely we convey our personal taste of anything in the world and obviously it's comparative. I respect your opinion and for sure Rubinstein is one of the greatest Chopin performers ever. One specific impressive thing of Richter for me, is his physical power to perform fortissimo in compare with the other performers.
@@alfy2651 Totally, i've got to agree with your last point. He was a really dynamic performer. Rubinstein's playing on the other hand was the most tender thing i've ever heard..so i really enjoy his interpretation of Chopin waltzes and nocturnes. Anyway we're talking about two of the best..that's for sure..each one with his special, unique sound that made them who they are. and we are lucky we can enjoy them both in decent recordings :)
It may be the most beautiful piano music in the world, full of anger and passion. What a tragic country Poland is! It is only an amateur art, but I played it when I was young. It doesn't even become a child's play in front of such a splendid performance. I don't play it anymore. Now everything is just something echo.

I listened to so many versions of this étude... None of them were as good as this version by Richter. This should have a million views
Have a listen to André Watts. I think you'll like it.
@@Hitherto90 yessss watts is cool

Richter owns the 4th Ballade. Others might rent it for a little while from time to time...

No comparison. Simply the best.
Incredible. I didn't think I would ever see Richter performing - 3 just listened to him for decades starting on LP's.
