- Hey everyone! This is my rendition of my favorite hymn "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" but I write my own songs as well. While I love all the support I get around the holidays for this cover, check out my latest single, "Black Tears" on Spotify if you want to hear what I'm doing right now.

Best version I've heard. Staying true to the song's theme while still being creative. I don't like it when singers try to be extra to this song. This song doesn't need it.
Anna Hawkins does a great one too.
@@stanepperson3062 I did hear that version, and it's OK. Lingers a little too much, whereas Anna Madsen's is more smooth.
I love this song. It's my favourite carol, because of how it conveys the longing for the Messiah to come, which is to me the fundamental significance of Christmas. That in our despair and sin, Jesus came and rescued us. That's something I think is missing from many carols. Never mind all the lyrical fluff about winter, and poetic lines that are purely that - poetic, for poetic's sake. Jesus probably wasn't born in winter. I'd rather sing about the raw significance of Christmas, without the unnecessary poetry. This rendition is stunning. (And on a shallower note, I love her hair).

@@wms72 Most likely not. Shepherds in Israel don't keep their sheep out at night in the high pastures around Bethlehem in the winter.
Right next to the cathedral in my city, there is this small chapel. The entire building is no bigger than a small two story house.
Next to the massive cathedral, it almost looks like a tool shed next to a normal house.
There are no sermons held there, but it's open during the day.
It's a thousand years old, built by architects from Konstantinople.
It has a reverb lasting 7 seconds.
A single voice sounds like a choir in there.
It's one of my favourite places on earth.

This is the best rendition I have ever heard - conveys the true meaning of Christmas for me . After a long and difficult year (for lots of people) it reminds me of what is and what isn't important

Because she has a beautiful voice, like hundreds of thousands of people in the world, BUT she seems more occupied with looking her best, than give meaning to the words. She could sing gibberish, instead of such deep things. Ruined it for me.

Loved the ITV Christmas performance. The Anglican church setting and original 19th Century lyrics made it hugely impressive. Would love to see this performance available as a separate RUclips video, or I would certainly pay up to £3 to download it.
Hello Keith- Anna's producer/manager responding. Thanks for getting in touch. It was certainly a thrill for Anna to perform in that church in December, and it was a thrill for me to watch her perform there. Anna and I both have an affinity for the hymn, so it was only natural for us to record it. And yes, we made a conscious decision to go back to the earlier translations. Believe it or not, we've actually not seen any of the ITV program from Christmas Eve, so we'd certainly pay to download video of her performance as well!. Anna and the band will be in England for a tour in April (we're finalizing dates now), so we hope to see you.
