Sorry for so many comments but I think of things as it goes on and if I don't mention it then I'll forget it. I have a new friend who is with me a lot these days and is learning what things that I need from a friend and what I can handle on my own. She took me out to a all you can BBQ place and they had the items listed on an IPAD that you could press to choose any available items. She chose some things and then pushed the thing to me to choose and I had to tell her that I have some sight but I couldn't read anything on it. So she took it apologized and started reading to me items and asking me to name things I liked and telling me if they were listed. I'm very thankful to have her as a friend because she is learning and becoming more then a friend. She is learning to be very supportive for me.
As a visually impaired man it’s a blessing folks like myself talk about things like this. I don’t know what it’s like too be blind I certainly do not know what it is like to drive myself places either due to low vision
Glad you enjoyed! Some of these conversations, even though they’re older, can still apply. It’s important for us to have support from multiple individuals. Losing your vision is like nothing else.
I hear you because I have tunnel vision and can't see to either side of me only things that are directly ahead of me. People will be to my sides and come up and cross in front of me or move things slightly to one side or the other and then I go flying over it or them and they wonder why that happened. I think one of the worst things that have happened is people asking me "How blind are you really ?" That really upsets me as I have gone from wearing glasses and having a large amount of sight from 2 months old to being very limited sighted now and hate missing what I know I am. Do you find that you ever wish that you had been either born without sight at all or that you never lost any sight ? If you don't mind me asking that is. I ask because I detest losing my sight and would rather have been born blind because then I wouldn't know what I'm missing.
I completely understand. Would you mind if I did a video and quoted a portion of your comment? I was thinking of doing a video on being born blind vs losing vision. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you have some support, it is essential. Hugs
Yes you most certainly may use a portion or the entire comment. Let me know when you do it so that I can view it as I love viewing your videos. I'm going to use them to teach others around me to use the proper methods in helping me. :)
I love your videos so much! Lol, my favorite is when I've gotten stopped at the store and told how "inspiring I am for doing this and this if I was blind I couldn't do this" and my immediate thought was: I'm just buying soda not climbing a mountain
I am so glad you enjoy the videos! I hope they continue to be educational and fun. I know about the stopping thing. Some people just blurt out, "How did you go blind?" or "Can you use your hands?" the weirdest questions.....Solidarity.
Joy Hu I definitely feel the same. There's been many times I've just used sighted guide with my family or friends so I don't have to deal with weird comments or questions. Haha!
Blind Inspirationcast It's so gross for someone to say that as if it's a "inspirational" thing to tell you. It feels like they're implying that we have a miserable existence just because we can't see
Do you use a galaxy ID mate ? I do and wonder if you have used one because they are very helpful with identifying your cloths as well as foods , medicines and more. You can make your own labels and iron them on as well as it reads bar codes on products. It also has an MP3 player on it, takes memos and much more.
Of course I’m catching up on comments and I see this one probably a little later than is useful. But no, I had not heard of that at the time. I am crossing my fingers for an orc cam at the moment.

Solidarity. I feel so odd when people just say stuff like I'm amazing for existing. "I'd kill myself if I was blind." "Why wait?" lol
