Have you installed mac os on an external SSD, or are you installing programs on an SSD?... And how do you like this bunch in general?.. I also bought the same one and I want to buy a Samsung T9.. We were upset by a video about lowering the speed of the internal SSD by 256gb.Although I haven't even unpacked it yet)
Love the video. I'm almost irritated with myself though, that I saw the Mac mini on the pegboard, and had to go searching for one for myself. I have an Ikea Skadis setup right next to my monitor, and that will store it away neatly up off of the desk. So, along with everything else, thank you for that!
I have an i5 4650 for such a long time and I said that it's time to upgrade. I was that close to buy a mac mini with m2, with 512gb of memory and 8gb of ram. But still had the questions in my mind. Would it be enough ? How many years can I use this model? When will it became obsolete? I really really wanted to buy one mac mini, it was my guilty pleasure. But then I realized that, if I'm buying a thing that I'm not 100% sure it will meet my expectations, maybe it's not worth buying at all. So I've decided to just build my own windows system with 200$ less, which I'm sure that It's more than enough for what I need. I know that 16gb of ram on mac mini would've been more than enough, but it wasn't a fair price anymore at that range. So in case anybody else is in the same situation like me, maybe this is the answer you are looking at
Very helpful video! Thanks a lot. Was looking in a value for money solution Apple device. Don’t need incredible specifications for 1080 video editing for my RUclips channel and browsing the web. Was looking into the basic models MacBook Air M1 and iMac 24. Your video about this M2 Mac Mini probably will change my purchase decision. Why not get this one with a Satechi hub (for extra ports on the front for ease of using). Thanks for your reply. I subbed to your channel 😁
I got one too but I realized I cannot use all the stuff I already bought throughout the years cause everything I use connects with the wrong standard so I have to replace everything I bought. I did not want to do that so I put it on the shelf. For example I cannot hook up my Samsung TV I use as monitor for Davinci Resolve so I have to buy something to hook it up over USB3 or a real video monitor. It works really good but I also play around with music and I will have to replace all the good stuff I already got cause I cannot hook it up to the mini. So it sit collecting dust doing nothing. I used it as a monitor for my new app TV but everyone that came and visit us think it´s enough with the apps on the TV and don´t turn the mini on at all.
Love the video, best review oof the Mac mini m2 base model by far! Have you tried the affinity apps (photo and designer) on it? Are the 8GB enough? Thanks :)
Would really appreciate an answer to this if you could E, I’m going to buy the new mini, I’m on a budget and really don’t want to buy the wrong one Thanks in advance
Have an old 2012 Mac Mini and, aside from the obvious performance difference, the design of the mini is something that i always loved. Small, all metal chasis, no noise, etc. Paired with a good display and if you don't need the mobility, i think is better than the Air
Been looking to get the Mac mini M2 with 16gb RAM, think I will save my money and get the 256ssd as that's what I have had and used on my old Mac book pro 2015. Great insight and video!!!
Hey E, I have a question about the productivity of the baseline M2. Is the new Mac Mini M2 base model worth the upgrade if you already have the M1 Model?
@@christechguy both m1 and m2 are good choices if you don't wanna go back to x86. But there's very little sense going from m1 to m2. Especially that on m1 you can feel alright on 8\256 setup where on the different price tag you should avoid base models and stick to 16\512 or at least 8\512
Man. People need to know and match their needs. Myself, for example: i only use word, chrome and spotify in the windows PC with 8 gb of ram, so Why do i need more than 8 gb mac mini m2? just to trow 200 bidens into the apple pockets .
given mac os currently uses 4.5 + gigs of ram just to get to the desktop its usless to buy any mac with 8 gigs of ram as you will be almost instantly into swap and killing your ssd way before it should not to mention the performace hit you will also take with only 8 gigs of ram..
if you don’t have money and deciding between RAM upgrade or storage I’d say storage as it’s 2x-3x faster also you can use the storage as RAM (virtual memory) as much as you want and you can always add an external SSD
I would recommend the otherwise. Go for Ram save some money then buy external ssd. Ram is non-expandable, one you buy you are stuck with it. Yes SSD can be used as Swap memory but it sucks because of slow speed, and over time it will damage SSD's performance as well
Ordered with 16GB RAM. My 5700 XT died, and looked at GPU prices and just noped out of PC building lol. Tried to look at DDR5 stuff, 200usd for motherboard, 200 for 16GB RAM, I don't even have a CPU for 400. So yeah, I'll come back to PC building when the price drops. Even Apple dropped price for Mac mini. Oh I ordered with Education pricing, no Education pricing on AMD and Nvidia lol.
thats My dilemma, Get the base m2 mini with 16gb ram for 799 and have some money leftover for accessories or get the the Base m2 Mac Mini Pro for 1299.. Thoughts?? it would be for editing video and photography in adobe...

It’s really not cheaper considering if you don’t need the GPU with the PC the IGPU on Intels 12th gen is excellent for photo and video editing and even light gaming…
A big no for me with 8GB of RAM! With 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD is $1,000. Much better deal with a LG QHD 27-inch monitor ($250). Add cheap keyboard, mouse, and 1080p web camera $85. Total cost is $1,335

Can you run Microsoft teams, word, excel, chrome tabs, discord, and Spotify all at the same time?
Thinking about getting one of these, thank you for the info!

A thunderbolt 4 enclosure (that is using older pci-e 3 nmve ssd) will work twice as fast. And you can set up macOS to be the default boot device.
