...seems there is maybe much easier solution, not sure for dimensions, but PS3 4 pin replacement "potentiometer" is in fact a hall sensor with P1, P2, Vcc and GND, where P1 and P2 are voltages that are basically same when joystick is in neutral position, and start drift apart, aka make voltage difference when joystick goes in either side, where by moving it to one side P1 goes up, while P2 goes down and vice versa... it is small difference but a op amp could do the trick... Chasing for those now...
I've been looking and hoping for a controller manufacturer to finally do a DS4 layout with hall sensors but every controller with hall sensors is in (S)NES or Xbox layout for some reason. A kit like this would be even better I think as I've got five DS4 controllers, definitely upgrading to hall sensors when it becomes available.

I just came back to this video to bring up something I haven't seen other people mention about the Gulikit Joysticks. The joysticks (at least in my controller) ping backwards when I flick them meaning that if I flick the stick in one direction, the magnets will ping back to the middle but before they do that they sort of bobble in place slightly. It's really brief but it actually causes a flick to the right to also input a little to the left (unless you have really large dead zones but then what's the point in the hall effect sticks?). Anyway, I'd thought I'd just say to look out for that in your design because it was something I didn't expect and can be fairly annoying. :)
@@MariusHeier1 Yeah, I uploaded a quick 3 second side by side video in slow-motion to my channel. You can see how much the Gulikit wobbles compared to the PS4 controller.

I'd rather send in the controller and have the experts do it lol.
When it's released, I'd buy it to refurbish my old PS4 DualShock 4 controllers and make it better (as far as life expectancy of the thumbsticks go). And I am debating getting the USB-C board for them both too.
I've been considering designing solder swap hall effect joysticks from the modern resistive design. I'd love do purchase these from you when you sort out the kinks! Will these also be compatible with PS5 dualsense controller or with an Xbox controller as well?
This would be amazing! Outright the last joystick replacement you’d ever need to do on a controller! My only question though is about calibration. Could these be calibrated? Each PS4 & PS5 controller is generally a little different so sometimes I have to try out a few replacement joysticks before I find one that matches the original enough not to cause stuck drift. Is there a way to do that with these?
Tested that part today. Worked great. Its gonna have a calibration routine for each controller that is setup with a button and a software on a normal computer, probably just with the webbrowser. Obviously needs testing on more controllers. Worst case it can be programmed by a programmer, a seperate device. But that would be extra costs. Try with buttons first.
Is it possible that the joysticks ship with the motherboard already sod in. It would take that problem off i think. And for the value i would pay 40/50€ for the all thing. And sure you can make the motherboard black to look like the usb-c board, very pretty.
I'll be interested too. This is sick. This with usb c mod, decade mod pack from extremerate. And you have yourself a top of the line controller. And then brook will make a ps4 to ps5 adapter and that's the end game.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!! Seriously though, I found your USB-C board when looking for a battery upgrade for my controller and was inspired to go all out. I am now working on creating the most tricked out Dualshock 4 ever complete with USB-C charging, a 2600 mAh battery, hall effect joysticks, and maybe even a custom fit grip if I can ever save up enough for a 3D printer.
I don't think people think about this but they might not get stick drift but that plastic and spring under the stick will still eventually wear down and the stick will start becoming looser n looser feeling til it is almost like drift because it wont spring back to center it will just take 3 times as long I still love these things just want to point that out.
This is AWESOME 😮! I'm really appreciative that you are doing this before GuliKit, and would LOVE to get some for some drifting DS4 controllers I have here👍Will this fit in the original DS4 housing? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY 💰 (with all due respect and kindness 😊)
@@MariusHeier1 Thanks for your reply! Can I get 2 of these (or more!?) right now, or are they not available for sale yet? I said more because a local electronics repair shop I know of would DEFINITELY be interested if I told them about your incredible device 😀👍
we need these for xbox 360 controllers. SO many controllers sitting around no longer operating because of stick drift. Would save a ton of e-waste if we could get them up and going again.
Count me in for a set. I wonder if this mod could be done to the Microsoft elite controller joysticks. they are a little smaller but do have the tension adjustment facility.
Yeah. I would absolutely buy some of these. I would just keep buying new gamepads, but *every* manufacturer is now using fancy textures on the back that irritate my hands. I can tolerate a DualSense using a smooth, replacement shell, but the DS4 is still the gamepad I like the most, so I'd rather just replace the sticks in one of those. I'd probably prefer an 8BitDo Pro 2 over anything, but they have those same, bumpy textures.
I have 5 ps4 controller only 1 works perfectly 1 has R2 drift 2 analogue drift 1 so many things i can't measure. They mostly are unused as i rarely have time to play, and only got 4 in the first place for multiplayer games as I like to host casual couch gaming nights (as with the vast amount of 4players games as you know) no controller was really used, since even knowledge is power doesn't even require controllers. My 6th controller is a 30$ third party controller which been the best of the bunch (with no motion though). So I'd love to breath some new life into the official ones... Btw i now only use xbox controllers for PC and i had better luck with all them qualities even the 360 ones Plus with RF receivers 0 headaches connecting them
I think there are over 200.000.000 xbox, ps4 and ps5 controllers out there with problems. Hopefully we can save some of them. I recently got the xbox controller and like the way they are made.
I think i will make another version for ps5 and xbox since it uses a different voltage. But i might design that version to also work on the ps4. The issue with the xbox and ps5 is that it runs on 1.8v and not 3.3v as all position sensors run on. So we need some extra components to boost the voltage or just make a new powersupply by making a battery board or something. Or even tap it out some other place on the boards.
@@MariusHeier1 thank you so much, i like what you do and i think will buy usb c and make a video on my RUclips channel we can work together if you like

These would be interesting as a module for custom robotics controllers, which might use 3 or 4 joysticks at a time. Pi Pico W just got bluetooth support, do you think it would be difficult to interface?
For a robotic controller you would probably not even need it. Unless its used alot. Like a gaming controller. But there are lots of interesting stuff that can be done with 3d hall sensors for custom controllers as well.

Considering DS4 and DS5 use the same joystick module… wouldn’t your kit also be a solution for Hall effects on the DualSense 5 ???
Yes it will!!
This is yet again, amazing. These videos are very inspiring!!!
Thank you!
Definitely shut up and take my money. Love to see one for the switch pro controller
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!! Seriously though, I found your USB-C board when looking for a battery upgrade for my controller and was inspired to go all out. I am now working on creating the most tricked out Dualshock 4 ever complete with USB-C charging, a 2600 mAh battery, hall effect joysticks, and maybe even a custom fit grip if I can ever save up enough for a 3D printer.
... isn't this basically how ps3 did it's hall sensors? Because I remember opening them up to notice they were round.
And, shut up and take my money.
One more question. This could basically work with any controller running alps sticks, correct?
It uses the same principle. But basically it's multiple small hall sensors and a computer in that little ic package thing
Can't wait to see for these to release!
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
I will I will!
Yeah it will fit right in. You calibrate it with an automatic tool that it comes with. The tool is just a small computer
@@MariusHeier1 Thanks for your reply! Can I get 2 of these (or more!?) right now, or are they not available for sale yet? I said more because a local electronics repair shop I know of would DEFINITELY be interested if I told them about your incredible device 😀👍
Your being told to "SHUT UP" a lot in the comments which is great news, fascinating project and I hope it goes ballistic !...Cheers !
Thanks! Yes its to funny! But im liking it. Let's hope we dont trigger any moderation problems. Haha.🤗
I'll take a few for sure. Only controller to ever implement this kind of tech was the Sega dreamcast controller.
Wow. I am really really interested in something like that. How difficult would it be to put it together? I am horrible at soldering though.
My goal is to have it be a very easy soldering job, with good instructions. Dont need to solder the whole joystick. Just the potmeters on it.
This is what's I've been wanting take my money
You are a master mind! Shut up and take my money. I am really impressed!
I might not want one for my DS4... but I would LOVE to see something like this for the Logitech G13.
we need these for xbox 360 controllers. SO many controllers sitting around no longer operating because of stick drift. Would save a ton of e-waste if we could get them up and going again.
Yes for sure. Xbox has the biggest challange. Smallest space and 1.8v.
Shut up and take my money!
Installed the USB-C board from vCuda, and it's great!
Count me in for a set. I wonder if this mod could be done to the Microsoft elite controller joysticks. they are a little smaller but do have the tension adjustment facility.
Yes. It should work for that too!
yeah , good thing I waited for a more serial production of those that don't require additional computers, and it's ~1$ per stick , I can get 20
Good day. Please, let me know. If you can fix my PS5 controller with hall sensors.
The goal is that they will work for PS5 as well!
If this is working... this might worth a pursuit for another idea I had inside my noodle. Hotswap controller. Lemme know when this will be available.
Swapping out controller or joysticks?
@@MariusHeier1 joystick and microswitch.
When the hall effect sticks go on sale then I'll buy both at once.
Can you do with this the DualShock 3? My controller is need the sticks replaced.
Yes. As long as they use the same sticks. Some of the DS3 i think already have hall!
Even before you said this in the video, i wanted to open comments and say... SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Haha! Imagine if you did. That would be kinda scary! 🎯
Shut Up and Take My Money! Nice work! Console and controller makers should take notice!
Btw i now only use xbox controllers for PC and i had better luck with all them qualities even the 360 ones
Plus with RF receivers 0 headaches connecting them
Thanks for making them and hopefully I'll get my hands on some
I think there are over 200.000.000 xbox, ps4 and ps5 controllers out there with problems. Hopefully we can save some of them. I recently got the xbox controller and like the way they are made.
Once my ds4 drifts out, I fully intend to buy this, or your other hall effect sticks.
You can buy gulikit sticks that are actually made specifically for ps4 now
@@harshlarose6670 oh, that's big
hope this will accessible at Southeast Asia region
Great work. Hall effect sensors would be very helpful.
Shut up and take my money!
Would these work on any controller or only ps4, if it could work for ps5 and xbox controller i would buy 4
You did a great job, did you have a diagram for ps4 motherboard?
Thank you! I did not use a diagram, but i now there is one here. www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,44645.0.html
@@MariusHeier1 thank you so much, i like what you do and i think will buy usb c and make a video on my RUclips channel we can work together if you like
Could you make these for the dual sense en even better for the victrix pro controller?
Im gonna make the ds4 the best and fastest out there. Just need a bit time. 🙏😎
@@MariusHeier1 yeah that's great but it would be great if you could make one for de dual sense or edge, would throw that money at you immediately!
@@mariorruiz News about exactly that in the new video!
You do Amazing work! i will indeed tell you to shut up and take my money if you released this, as it would bring new life into my DS4 controller! have you considered making a mod for back paddles or mouse clicky buttons?
Yes. I have, i made clicky buttons already. Just have not manufactured it yet. Not back buttons yet.
Will I be able to put these on a ps5 controller?
Yes!
That is the goal
That's fantastic, can't wait to see what else you have in store for us 👍🏼
Genius
love it
These would be interesting as a module for custom robotics controllers, which might use 3 or 4 joysticks at a time. Pi Pico W just got bluetooth support, do you think it would be difficult to interface?
For a robotic controller you would probably not even need it. Unless its used alot. Like a gaming controller. But there are lots of interesting stuff that can be done with 3d hall sensors for custom controllers as well.
Nice workaround 👍🏼 did you look into the details of the original Dualshock3 that came with hall-sensors? I just took apart the Dualshock3 controller that came with my PS3 back in 2009 and it has hall-sensors installed which is crazy to see.
