I never thought I'd say this but I think I need a cowl pattern, too. I can't have cold ears, neck or back in the winter time. I can do cold hands but not the above. Edit: I find myself adding stitches. Using a variegated yarn. I'll do one in a light color like moss and see if I can keep the stitches straight. I'm not moving across like I should be and am crocheting in the same stitch.

I measure around the largest part of my head. Going across my forehead directly to the back of my head 😊 average size for women is 22”
