When i was 17 i went to my first In Flames concert. I told my parents it was in the same town we where living and that i was going to sleep at a friends house. Took the train 360 km away. Went on the concert after the concert i snuck into a strip club and got thrown out had to sleep outside in a parkinglot until my train arrived in the morning. Was so worth it. Now im 37 and In Flames still rocks =)

I was 15, waiting for the school bus to arrive. Around 7 am, very cold morning. This riff was all I could think about. Now I am 32, the riff is still very catchy and gets me going every time.

I’m seeing In flames in 2 months and was checking their most played songs and “Cloud Connected” was the top one. I didn’t remember how this song sounded but as soon as I heard the riff the memories came back. Such a banger!

Honestly, one of the coolest metal videos I’ve ever seen. Love the cinematography.
I suspect it was filmed like the bullet time parts in the Matrix. With a whole bunch of stationary cameras scattered along the lines of movement we're meant to perceive, then stitched together with cuts and melds. In some parts I think I can even see a bit of wonk where the transitions aren't seamless.
And yes, very very cool
You're jumping ahead a little, it's cool and has nice effects, but it's no masterpiece, just a band playing with a little gimmick

must be a large array of cameras facing the band. With a setup similar to how they shot 'bullet-time' in the Matrix.
Edit: or maybe just one camera moving around on a hydraulic dolly of some sort

And of course they will not leave and unsubscribe from this channel due to the fact that they subscribe to mine. I can't believe this song is 20 years old in a few days. This song and album was my introduction to in flames and will always be my favorite.
Used to listen to everyday when I was 18, now I’m 30. Still go back to it. Time flies, nothing’s changed.
My son introduced this band to me; I really like you all. He's a huge fan he got backstage tickets he hung out with you all in Las Vegas NV.

Well, they fucking suck now. they went radio friendly. They have also lost members due to "artistical disagreements"...and it shows. Early In Flames was absolutely amazing. They suck now man. It's unfortunate. I got VIP back stage meet and greets 7 years ago. At the end of when they were heavy. I'm dissapointed in them, but I hope they return.
i take it you have never heard of in flames before this song. there is an entire rabbit hole to go down. enjoy it. early in flames is amazing with theolder line ups. but they stillhave great musicians in the band playing along.

Cloud Connected is one of my favorite songs from In Flames
One of favorite metal bands of all time.
They were the first Swedish metal band I ever heard and it pretty much translated as the state of the sound of Sweden. Hearing this song for the first time on a Metal Hammer compilation back in 2002 when Reroute To Remain was about to be released was like a religious experience.

those camera shots is what fascinates me
Probably filming them all separately with a bank of cameras like they did with the bullet-time shots in the Matrix, then using compositing software to 'change' the camera perspective. I don't consider myself to really understand what I'm talking about, but that's my best guess.

@@EpicMRPancake so i just watched it on 0.25x and this is what i think i saw: when camera moves just a few cm i think it's real movement from camera, but when it comes to zoom out to get a bigger picture i think it's transitions made by software and you can tell how sometimes this works, for example this: 2:52 you can see how his hair it's flying and in the zoom out it's just flat hanging.

I always preferred the low gutteral metal growl over the scream. Then I contemporarily encountered the universe of early 2000s emo, circled back to metal and discovered that Cradle of Filth was actually fuckin' dope.
I had the same realization from In Flames, though mine was when I first heard Moonshield!
I was the same way. At some point, I realized just how expressive screams and growls can be. Love them ever since.
This song was that moment for me too. Straight up.
This riff is one of the reason I still love metal - heavy, not too overdone, beefy, yet ther's still room for the notes to have their depth. Absolutely enjoying its every second, not to mention the whole composition. Perfection.

Got this album, Figure Number 5, and Hatecrew Deathroll all at the same time after a long drought in metal for me. Metal was in a bad place in the US at the time (unless you went underground of course).
I used to listen to this in highschool before I went out on the field. Shit had me so hyped, and still does.

Saw In Flames last week at Metal Tour of the Year in Pittsburg, Pa. Cloud Connected was the very first song of the night.... absolutely amazing. Perfect start to the show, they sound so good live.

I was probably hearing this a good deal later (around 2009) but God man, does this bring back the memories. Me and my older brother blasting this to zombies in World at War. Felt like those days would never end.
I remember being in my highschool years, playing a private server of RF Online (RF PoA) and Cloud Connected was the loading screen music they used. I had to ask a moderator what song it was because I'd always finish the song first before logging in without even knowing it. To whoever that moderator was, thank you!

Wish there was a BTS of shooting the music video, there is quite some tech going on. If I'd take a guess then they probably used some bolt cam robotic arm camera, but there are also some Matrix time freezes and green screen actions with a lot of hidden jump cuts.
