    -------------------
    WHAT JESUS REALLY TAUGHT
    by Dr Emmet Fox
The first thing that we have to realize is a fact of fundamental importance, because it means breaking away from all the ordinary prepossessions of orthodoxy. The plain fact is that Jesus taught no theology whatever. His teaching is entirely spiritual or metaphysical. Historical Christianity, unfortunately, has largely concerned itself with theological and doctrinal questions which, strange to say, have no part whatever in the Gospel teaching. It will startle many good people to learn that all the doctrines and theologies of the churches are human inventions built up by their authors out of their own mentalities, and foisted upon the Bible from the outside; but such is the case. There is absolutely no system of theology or doctrine to be found in the Bible; it simply is not there. Worthy people who felt the need of some intellectual explanation of life, and also believed that the Bible was a revelation of God to man, drew the natural conclusion that the one must be within the other; and then, more or less unconsciously, proceeded to manufacture the thing that they wished to find. They did not have the spiritual or metaphysical key. They were not upon what is called the Spiritual Basis, and consequently they sought a purely intellectual or three-dimensional explanation of life-and there can be no such explanation.
The actual explanation of man’s life lies in just the fact that he is essentially spiritual and eternal, and that this world, and the life that we know intellectually, is, so to speak, but a cross section of the full truth concerning him and a cross section of anything-from a machine to a horse-never can furnish even a partial explanation of the whole.
Glimpsing one tiny corner of the universe, and that with only half-opened eyes, and working from an exclusively anthropocentric and geocentric point of view, men built up absurd and very horrible fables about a limited and man-like God who conducted his universe very much as a rather ignorant and barbarous prince might conduct the affairs of a small Oriental kingdom. All sorts of human weaknesses, such as vanity, fickleness and spite, were attributed to this being. Then a farfetched and very inconsistent legend was built up concerning original sin, vicarious blood atonement, infinite punishment for finite transgressions; and, in certain cases, an unutterably horrible doctrine of predestination to eternal torment, or eternal bliss, was added. Now, no such theory as this is taught in the Bible. If it were the object of the Bible to teach it, it would be clearly stated in a straightforward manner in some chapter or other; but it is not.
The "Plan of Salvation" which figured so prominently in the evangelical sermons and divinity books of a past generation is as completely unknown to the Bible as it is to the Koran. There never was any such arrangement in the universe, and the Bible does not teach it at all. What has happened is that certain obscure texts from Genesis, a few phrases taken here and there from Paul's letters, and one or two isolated verses from other parts of the Scriptures, have been taken out and pieced together by divines, to produce the kind of teaching which it seemed to them ought to have been found in the Bible. Jesus knows nothing of all this. He is indeed anything but a Pollyanna, as they say, or cheap optimist. He warns us, not once but often, that obstinacy is sin can bring very, very severe punishment in its train, and that a man who parts with the integrity of his soul--even though he gain the whole world--is a tragic fool. But he teaches that we are only punished for---and actually punished by---our own mistakes; and he teaches that every man or woman, no matter how steeped in evil and uncleanness, has always direct access to an all-loving, all-powerful Father-God, who will forgive him and supply His own strength to him to enable him to find himself again; and unto seventy times seven, if need be.
Jesus has been sadly misunderstood and misrepresented in other directions too. For instance, there is no warrant whatever in his teaching for the setting up of any form of Ecclesiasticism, of any hierarchy of officials or system or ritual. He did not authorize any such thing, and, in fact, the whole tone of his mentality is definitely anti-ecclesiastical. All through his public life he was at war with the ecclesiastics and other religious officials of his own country. They first hindered, and then persecuted him, with a perfectly sound instinct of self-preservation-they felt instinctively that the Truth, as he taught it, was the beginning of the end for them-and they finally had him put to death. ... I first found a Emmitt Fox book in a tiny bookstore in Indiana in the 80's. I reached up and pulled his book out. Power through constructive thinking, and I still have the book. I bought more of his books, he taught reincarnation, which most Christians did not believe. He was the first to pull me out of religion, and I have a special place in my heart for him. Thank you for reading.

Wow! I had a similar experience around 1984. I bought Dr Fox's books The Sermon on the Mount and Stake Your Claim in a thrift store in Sydney. Reading those books and going to Unity changed everything for me. God bless you. It's wonderful to hear your story.

In Kabbalah, the mystical tradition of Judaism, the focus is primarily on exploring the nature of the divine and the spiritual journey of the soul. While Jesus as a figure in Christianity is not directly addressed in traditional Kabbalistic texts, some Kabbalistic interpretations offer insights into the symbolic and metaphysical aspects associated with Jesus.
One perspective that some Kabbalists hold is that Jesus represents a manifestation of divine consciousness or a channel through which divine energy is expressed. In this view, Jesus embodies a higher spiritual level or a vessel through which the divine presence enters the world. This concept aligns with the Kabbalistic belief in the various emanations of the divine known as the Sephirot.
The Sephirot, represented by ten interconnected spheres on the Tree of Life, depict different aspects of the divine nature and the journey of the soul. Some Kabbalists see Jesus as embodying qualities associated with specific Sephirot. For example, his teachings of compassion, love, and mercy might be seen as resonating with the Sephirah of Chesed (kindness). His role as a teacher and guide may be linked to the Sephirah of Hokhmah (wisdom).
Additionally, Jesus' crucifixion and subsequent resurrection can be seen as symbolic of spiritual transformation and the process of divine revelation. Kabbalah emphasizes the idea of personal sacrifice and the surrendering of one's ego to attain a deeper connection with the divine. In this context, Jesus' sacrifice on the cross can be viewed as an allegory for the journey of the soul, where one must undergo trials and challenges to achieve spiritual growth and redemption.
Furthermore, Jesus' teachings on the Kingdom of Heaven and the fulfillment of divine prophecies align with Kabbalistic notions of the Messianic age and the ultimate redemption of humanity. Kabbalah envisions a future era in which divine consciousness will permeate the world, bringing about unity, harmony, and enlightenment. Jesus' role as a Messiah figure may be seen as representing this concept of spiritual redemption and the realization of a divine plan.
It is important to note that these interpretations are not universally accepted within Kabbalistic traditions, and they may vary among different scholars and practitioners. Kabbalah remains primarily rooted in Jewish mystical teachings, and any connections drawn between Jesus and Kabbalah are speculative and subject to individual interpretation.
To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between Jesus and Kabbalah, it is advisable to consult specific Kabbalistic texts and seek guidance from scholars or teachers who specialize in both Kabbalah and comparative religious studies. They can offer deeper insights and provide a broader context for exploring these connections.

In some ways, your explanation aligns with Rudolph Steiner teachings, Anthroposophia. He refers jesus as Christ-Jesus, as he teaches their were 2, thinking maybe 3 "jesus" one a Nathan, and the full Christ entered this body at the Baptism. Not what I just wrote is similar to your explanation, I was referring to what you wrote. Thank you, and I know you are my brother also.

Hi, again. I just checked the original hardback edition of Fox's book The Sermon on the Mount. On page 5 we read, "we are only punished for---and actually punished by---our own mistakes". I know it sounds a bit odd, because the emphasis is on the fact that we are punished BY our mistakes, but Fox does say that we are also "only punished FOR [emphasis added] ... our own mistakes" as well. Cheers!

Jesus Christ was the Messiah promised to the nation of Israel, He only taught the nation of Israel. His message was that the kingdom was about to be established. Israel as a nation rejected Him and nailed their Messiah to the cross. God changed Saul to become the apostle to the Gentiles and gave him the revelation of a mystery that was hidden from Israel and that all men could be saved simply by believing that Christ died for their sins and by simple faith could be forgiven and have God declare them to be righteous.

Thanks, George. That’s the mainstream, largely evangelical, interpretation. You may be surprised to know that there are other interpretations, especially among the metaphysical churches. You will say those other interpretations are wrong. So be it. I’ve been down that road and have now come to see it radically different. All the best to you.

    🤔what is yoga? 👉🪞

    • @drianej
      @drianej  4 месяца назад

There are many forms of yoga but the word itself essentially means union--that is, union with the Divine or the All. The Sanskrit root yuj means to “yoke,” “bind,” or “join together.” It also indicates “union” or “Oneness.” At the deepest spiritual level, yoga allows us to reveal the Self, the True Essence of our Being. Ultimately, it is the means by which we realize that there is no separation between anyone or anything.
