The violin was sold for $ 13.4 mil but after all, the sound is mainly come from the player. After all, any violin in Heifetz’s hands will sound like Heifetz.

Yes, you make a great point. I remember my days in university. My teacher/tutor had an Andrea Guarneri... but when he conducted our orchestra, he would demonstrate a part by picking up *anyone's* violin and make it sound great. Then when it got handed back to the musician, it would go back simply sounding just a $500 violin ahah.

The right violin matched with the right player will always sound and perform on another level. True, a seasoned player can make any instrument sound good regardless of price. It’s when the likes of Menuhin or Heifetz find their ‘soul instrument’ that they play for their entire life where artist and instrument become one.

That was Stefan Jackiw playing for a few seconds in the beginning of this video. Stefan is one of my favorite violinists. However buys this violin, let Stefan (or some other young talented player) have in on loan!

In my opinion, this is my Great Granddad's violin and you can clearly see where he has itched his familiar name Fred on the bridge.
My Great Grandparents, Joseph Fredrick Leonard and Lillie Cox Clark Leonard, inherited a Stradivarius which was shipped to him from Europe from family and for which they had to take a special road trip to collect from a shipyard.
Joseph Fredrick Leonard was also known as Fogless Bill on the CC&O. He was a well known and great violinist whom Charlie Bowman asked for violin lessons as a young man. So, every day that J. Fred pulled into a side yard in Gray with the train on his way to Kingsport. Charlie Bowman would be there waiting for his lessons. Years later, Bowman became a great violinist himself and wrote a song about Fogless Bill and his famous method of blowing his steam engine No. 558 whistle.
The violin has a great deal of family and world history attached to it.
His son Sherman Leonard wanted to use the instrument in highschool for his music lessons and he was allowed to borrow the violin to use while attending Science Hill Highschool in Johnson City, Tennessee.
The music teacher at the time, convinced young Sherman that the violin needed repairs and asked him to leave it overnight. When my Great Granddad went the next day to retrieve his violin, he was told the violin had been shipped to New York City for repairs. Days and weeks passed and the teacher claimed the violin must have been lost in the mail.
Our family has for decades asked for the investigation to stay open and the violin returned to family.
Someone knows where the violin is... and the truth of what occurred.
Hopeful they will return it our family.

      L. Fred... Is clearly for... Leonard, Fredrick...or a part of the J. Fred as he was known has been altered.

Whoever purchases this treasure, no matter how great or popular the violinist may be, will never produce the sound Seidel made. Good Luck!
