  • Hi and thank you for choosing this video. This is my fourth and final week as a driver trainer with Swift Transportation. I’ve have learned so much in this time and I am excited for the experiences to come. I want to thank my mentor Blake Bierds for taking the time and showing me what it really means to be a Truck Driver. I hope you all enjoy this video.     I can barely drive this Yukon 😩 i couldn't imagine driving that 18 wheeler. I know your mom is super excited for you!

      lol I’m sure you drive fine. It’s a little weird at first but I have a lot of training and experience driving these large vehicles in the Army. The Army actually has a different version of the 18 wheeler so I really just needed a refresher. I’m definitely grateful for the opportunities. And yes, my mom is always proud of me but I’m the one that’s proud of her. Thank you for watching

    Dez the more you drive you will feel more comfortable in that Big Truck you right not enough training, but you will do fine as time goes on .
    You served are country for 20 yrs if you did that, you will do great at this to , Now go pass that test and be safe on those roads . Oh ! hug KOBE for me he is so cute . God Bless .

    The Walmart account is an excellent training account for over the road. OTR is gonna be a lot easier. Mostly drop and hook! Some docks may be a little tight, but it's all about the setup

      Being out there on the road with other civilian drivers definitely gets you prepared. I hate driving with them lol I’m very grateful for the opportunities

    Dez my ex husband use to drive for Walmart when he got out the Army, and buddy they don’t pay enough to sustain a great income. Once you get your CDL, go work for the oil field.

      Hi 👋🏾 thank you for watching and commenting. Of course everyone’s situation is different. The account I’m does well for me. It’s not the most but it’s enough. And as far as the oil jobs and other jobs that pay better and more, most of those job’s require you to have 12 months, and up to 2 years.

But congrats 👏🏽 you're doing good!💪🏾💯💯💯👌🏽✨️You ARE a truck driver.😁😎🙏🏽👍🏽Can you ask your supervisor or somebody about the position or task that you want? Idk 🤷🏽‍♀️. You know what Dez, think long and hard about the career decision that you've made. Then ask yourself what is going to help YOU and YOUR FAMILY in the long run. I get the missing family part completely. And if you Pray? I do alot. Do that too.😁😃✌🏾

    About the walmart checking bag,they do it to EVERYONE,they even check employee handbags/backpacks when leaving work.

      It’s illegal for them the search and check you. It’s a 4th amendment violation. Tell them nicely and respectfully to go pound sand

    Awww congrats Desmond!! Yay! I have my class B and will be going back for my class A this fall. Im reading to go over the road my son is 19 now. lol, Any tips for a female driver while I’m training on the road? Or just in general. And congrats again! 😊

      Hi LG❤️ I enjoy driving. This has been an enjoyable experience but it wasn’t anything hard about getting to where I am. The hard part is wing out here on this road and being safe amongst the population

    Yeah I had the same experience when I was in a Ride aid . I was looking at the reading glasses when I noticed one of the employees was walking back and for looking seeing what I was doing. I feel on that I make to much money to be stealing some damn eyeglasses.

      Yeah it pretty sweet. I did it for a weekend and I wanted to stay on as long as possible. Swift is everywhere

    I did a bread route for 2 weeks.. I'm telling you man.. people that work in the back of grocery stores are the worst.. they always checked my receipts n sht

      Yes I have. There are a few companies that I would like to drive for but they all require you to have 1 year of experience

    How is it so far being solo? Are you doing OTR, dedicated or regional? I’m a recent swift graduate I got my CDL A through their academy and tomorrow I’ll be meeting up with my mentor for on the road training. I appreciate your insight btw

      What up Jay! I’m gonna be real bro, it took some getting used to but Swift is the way to go. I don’t mind being OTR for right now and I also do dedicated from time to time.

    Hi do you recommend swift I have cdl a with hazmat and tanker and double triples endorsements but no experience
    How many mile per week regional and how much make weekly after 4 week training with trainer

      I’ll just be honest. As a new truck driver I feel like Swift is an ok place to start. Most new drivers start out doing over the road like I did and I also did a couple of dedicated routes. I was driving about 1200 to 1500 miles a week and bringing home 550 to 700 a week. That sucked so bad. Yes you read that correctly. It wasn’t worth it to me but I’m grateful for the experience.

      I called swift they told me pay 650 for 4 weeks with trainer and after that I will be solo they pay 0.55 per mile and they drive per week 3600 miles !!! I don’t know if they are say truth or not and the route is regional

      Unfortunately, they put all the new drivers on Over the road. Learn Al you can ad try to have accidents and requests for a Dedicated Rote after 6 months

    When you did the physical at Swift, did they do the hernia test on you?
