WARRANTY CHANGED. Taurus has changed their warranty policy as of 3/1/2019. They now offer limited lifetime warranty on the TX22, G2C, G2S, and a few others. ruclips.net/video/UmWDTF-seYY/видео.html
I was just cleaning my TX22 after putting another few hundred rounds of CCI SV’s, and from the front the barrel looks like it wasn’t rifled correctly. When you look down the front of your barrel, does the rifling go all the way to the end of the barrel? It’s a kind of a stupid question, because I’ve never known a barrel to not be rifled all the way.
David Brown I don’t personally own a TX22 so take what I say with a grain of salt. I don’t think it’s rifled all the way because of the thread adaptor which is internal.
I cleaned the crap out of my TX22. After shooting some Stingers through it, and cleaning it again, looks like it was some nasty fowling. I had run M22 through it, fowled up bad. No more M22 for me. Nothing else I have ran through it had anything close to that kind of fowling. It is rifled all the way, and other than the fowling from M22, has been a fantastic firearm!!!
David Brown that’s awesome man. I’m considering this or a Smith Victory. I’ve been using an old Browning buck mark that’s ready to be retired haha. I’ve been burned pretty bad with Taurus before but this TX22 looks pretty sweet for the money
Dude! I put over 500 rounds thru mine, today. Wow!!! Not ONE SINGLE PROBLEM! NOT EVEN A MISFIRE, using Fed 550 bulk ammo. This gun is perfection. Period. Can't wait to put 500 more thru it, tomorrow!!! I love everything about it. I've never been this impressed, with a new gun. Taurus knocked it out of the park, with this one. For real. The trigger reset feels like something that you would pay $1,000 bucks for. Crazy good.
Of all the summaries / reviews I’ve seen on the TX22 yours by far is the best. Thanks for taking the time completing this review. I found it very insightful.
Picking up one of these from a friend of mine, like new condition, could even say mint. So I'm binge watching reviews and came across yours. Nothing short of excellent, very impressed. Subscribed and will be checking out your other videos, thank you.
@Guns & Accessories, thank you for this incredible review. I am so excited about this 22 and for a three standout reasons. One, it will hold 16 rounds. 2, it can be dry fired. And 3, the price is absolutely incredible. I am more impressed with Taurus everyday, and I applaud them for really upping their game.
Nancy M-R Taurus has come alive in the last few years. I love all 3 of my Taurus firearms. BY FAR, the worst two guns that I own are new Rugers(10/22, 22mag LCR). Taurus has passed Ruger, in reliability. I, personally, will NEVER buy another Ruger, but I can't wait for the next new thing Taurus comes out with.
Awesome new semiauto!! Yup, saw the early reports on it and looked around. Saw one in a gun store yesterday and 30 minutes later I was putting rounds thru it at 50 yards. Had almost 100 rounds after checking the operation and at slow speed, double tap and fast fire. Kept them all inside a coffee cup with my old eyes. REALLLY happy with it and can't wait to get a can later in the year to try suppressed work. Great job Taurus, in the immortal words of Sootch, "TWO thumbs way up!!"
I was all set to buy the S&W M&P 22, but discovered it was discontinued, so thought the Ruger SR22 would be the best route, but after seeing so many great reviews of the Taurus TX22, I think this is the one. Very few issues with ammo, great trigger, awesome capacity. Going to go see how it feels, but leaning that way now. And they have the TX 22 Competition and the accuracy is supposed to be stunning.
That's very good engineering, and very precise specs, to make a .22 that's safe to dry fire. The striker block is allowing just enough protrusion from the striker to ignite the round, but not contact the barrel. Impressive! Plus, you could allow it to protrude more, if you were having light strike issues(if you knew what you were doing). I love this gun.
I’ve got my TX22 on order. That’s awesome that the sights are compatible with the G2/G2C/G2S. I love my G2, that’s what made me not fear ordering one of these before I got my hands on one. Thanks for the video, and information.
Same here. Recently bought a leftover PT111 Millennium G2 and we're having a blast with it. Need a .22 to keep costs down while we keep shooting so figured we'd give the TX22 a try, especially after watching some of his earlier videos.
I think the G2 is the reason all of us G2 lovers are going to by this TX. It's a very nice piece. I need to add a 22 to my gun draw. This most definitely caught my eye. Great job Taurus.🤙
SEAKPhotog SEAKPhotog I, too, bought mine to be a lower cost trainer for my striker fireds, which I carry. Shooting 250-500 rounds a week has been expensive. If it runs, like most seem to do, you’ll be happy.
I have had a Pt111 G2 for almost 6 years now and that thing is beast. It just runs and runs , it can easily go 500 or more rounds between cleanings. I hope my TX22 lives up to my PT111 G2
I run drills with mine 3-4 days a week, with a shot timer. PERFECT training pistol, for cutting ammo cost. Approaching 7,000 rounds, with no problems. My trigger now breaks at just under 4lbs. I love the ergos, the reliability is second to none, and the trigger and reset are excellent. This pistol is the REAL DEAL!! Gun snobs are missing out... I shoot this gun more than anything that I own. It's THAT GOOD!!
Picked mine up tonight and wow, the ergonomics are terrific for my medium hands. Grip texture, angle and shape feel great and it naturally points towards my target. Feels like it was made for me. I kinda love the side cut out for my supporting thumb. Why doesn't everybody do that? Of course when I get it out to the range tomorrow I may change my mind on that. The trigger feels pretty darn nice too. Fit and finish seem good. Take down is easy. Mags took 16 rounds no problem. I do wish the mags were metal tho. Oh, that's another thing, the gun it quite light. Surprisingly so, even with a full mag. Overall I'm pretty excited about this little guy. Looking forward to putting some rounds thru it and teaching my step daughter how to shoot with it.
Yet another quality video, I think you do a very thorough review. I've watched several of your other videos and I will probably be getting another S&W M&P15-22 rifle. I have just under 700 rounds through mine in two range trips and so far only one failure related to the magazine and 3 from ammo. The 3 rounds from ammo all had good hits on the rim, they just didn't ignite. Thanks for the shout out, I appreciate it. Have a great week brother!
I am the first kid on the block with one, and I feel cool. I am not ashamed to say it is a Taurus up next to a Ruger mark IV, or Browning Buck mark, and I do not care that my full size M&P .22 has been relegated. The TX22 has cycled all of the AMMO and even has two favorites that shoot tight groups.
I've watched several TX22 review videos lately and yours contains MUCH more interesting, useful and comparative information than any of the others. I will be sure to check your channel for reviews of guns I'm considering buying.
Thanks for your great review of the Taurus TX22. I picked up mine in 2019 the year it won the Guns and Ammo Best New Handgun of the year. Mine has served me well. It's a fantastic value.
I live where a compliant model is required. Sadly, even the 10 round compliant model isnt compliant enough in my Communist state. It still has a threaded barrel. Thats evil too. 😬😬
Excellent review! This review should be the standard that all others should adhere to. Great job, Brother! And, because of this review, this will be my next .22 purchase this year. Plus, thanks for pointing out the revised warranty.
I realize this is an older video, but I just wanted to say that you did a great review. I have one of these little guns and I learned stuff I just didn’t know about it. Thanks!
I bought one last year on a whim. Went in to pick something else up and saw it. For $198 I couldn’t pass it up. Phenomenal. I love this pistol. It will eat everything and never jams. So simple to takedown and clean. This thing runs as fast as you’ll pull the trigger. If I had known how awesome it was gonna be I would have bought two! If you can find one buy it. And the grip, wow. It fits the hand beautifully. And the trigger shoe is great, doesn’t have that stupid middle lever. It puts my Walther to shame. You don’t need a magazine assist to load or alter it lol. If you can’t load .22 into a magazine maybe you should try a slingshot instead. Overall it’s a great pistol
🤔Use a mix load of 22 stinger or silver tips and federal punch would be a good home defense , and fast on target for additional shots or a couple of double taps to the junk will make a punk, walk and talk with a different perspective?🤣
Dry Firing...... its not just the chamber damage, but the breaking of the firing pin. I worked several years for a gunsmith, and the #1 repair, was replacing broken firing pins from OVER dry firing them. They are hardened, and brittle, and over time they will crack from the shock of not hitting a soft primer or rim, so they will eventually break. Better keep a spare unless you trade guns often. So many new .22lrs are so called Dry Fire safe, meaning they will not damage the breech, but the firing pin can still break. This goes for ALL guns.
excellent review...i'm glad to see that the short trigger pull was discussed...i do not know all the terms of trigger-ology, but i was actually startled when i took it out of the box and dry fired it to get a feel for the trigger...whoa...there is about 1/8" of take-up and about 1/4" or 5/16" of trigger travel before firing...it has a WAAAY shorter travel than is on any of my other single action pistols...i'm not saying this is bad...i'm saying that it surprised me and is something that i'll have to get used to...all this by way of saying BE READY...do NOT put your finger on the trigger until you're ready to fire--but then you knew that...this gun makes you LIVE that warning...everything else is totally straightforward...
Great review! I learned alot. I wish I can give you an extra like because I never seen a thumb move like that before when you were explaining the safety.
Rural King just advertised it today (9/25/19) for $269.99 AND Taurus is offering a $50 rebate thru 9/30/19! Academy will match the price, too and take another 5% off. Mine out the door was $271.88. With the $50 rebate, $221.88 and I'll take that all day long!
Reviews of this pistol keep appearing on my RUclips feed, it certainly appears to be a lovely little pistol at a reasonable price and definitely something I would buy if I didn't live in the UK.
Put a few hundred rounds thru it yesterday. Ergonomics are great for my hands. Very, very comfortable. Reasonably accurate. Very nice trigger. Had one misfeed. Was using Federal 40 great 1240 for rounds. I think the failure may be mag related. The mags are my only complaint. Plastic and not very confidence inspiring. A buddy who hadn't shot in a very long time may have tried to jam an extra round into one mag with a little too much force. 🙄 I'll keep track and see if failures are mag specific. All-in-all tho, a really fun handgun. Easy and comfortable to shoot and accurate enough for my plinking needs out to 35+ft or so.
It is a fun handgun. I bet it was a simple bobble. I hope they have out extra mags pretty soon, and that they are reasonably cheap. Thanks for watching!
Had one just over 2 months, run about 1200 rounds, not one hitch. It's become my favorite gun. Did run some bulk ammo but more were cci 40 grain mini mag, just like them better
I had no idea it had a built in safety. I just bought the lakeline stainless rod and spring with the buffer that protects the slide that apparently breaks for many owners.
Perfect!!! Just got mine Saturday, out the door from my FFL for 289. Put 600 rounds through it Sunday, 500 of Thunderbolt, and 100 of CCI MM’s. Two failure to fire with the TB’s, perfect with the MM’s. The two that failed to fire had strong strikes on them, so probably dud rounds. Now to order more magazines. The magazines aren’t horrible to load, in fact that little loader that comes with the gun is pretty simple but effective. I sold my Ruger SR22 to get this pistol. I do not regret it. Now I have to get one for my wife, cause she absolutely loves it. I don’t know if Taurus will make the same design in 9mm, but I love the stipple. It’s just enough, while not being too rough. For a sub 300 gun, it’s got nice quality. If it had S&W rolled onto the slide, it would probably sell for 400-450. Great job Taurus, glad I could get in on the ground level with this pistol.
Try the PT111G2. It's my 9mm carry. 12+1 capacity, about the same size, same sights, four Oz heavier, double strike (sa/da trigger). Can be had for about the same price at the TX22.
Outside the Target, I have 2 PT111 G2’s. I daily carry mine, my wife daily carries hers. They are fantastic pistols. My experience with them is the reason I was so excited about the TX22. Several friends of mine have purchased the PT111 G2 and G2C because of their experience shooting mine.
@@davidbrown2284 agreed. My G2 is my default CCW, and it lead to the TX22 joining the coral today. The TX will serve as a trainer for the nephew/nieces, and trainer for my numerous full size-ers. Looking to take it out this weekend. :) Can't recommend the PT111G2 enough.
First time out at 15 yards shot over 100 rounds and was able to put rounds in a 1in. Square box no miss fires need to adjust the sights but I give a12 out a 10 rating bestgun I ever shot.
Another geat review. Its hard to spend 300 bucks on a .22 pistol but for how cheap it is to shoot, and thus how much more i can shoot it vs my 9mm, im very tempted. Im hoping it goes on sale before i loose my patience. Its going to make a cheap and fun companion to my m&p 15-22.
You have really done an incredible amount of review work on this gun. I was on my way to buy the Ruger Mark IV when this gun came out. I wasn't at first all that interested but after watching your reviews I am reconsidering it. If you don't mind could you compare this gun and the Ruger Mark IV as far as accuracy goes? If you have another pistol that you think I should also consider please let me know. Accuracy is the most important feature to me. Cost and lightweight is next since my wife just doesn't care for heavy pistols. Congratulations again to you on the depth that you went into on this weapon. Plus, amazingly, you hit the internet before anyone. I've never seen one reviewer do such a thorough review of any pistol on the internet. Count me in as a subscriber.
A friend of mine works for Ruger. He said Ruger recently purchased 3 Taurus TX-22's and are in the process of stealing its designs and will soon make their own. Stop supporting ruger! Rugers are TRASH
Picked up the tx22competition. I run a sar9 in competition steel challenge and the tx is almost perfect to the grip and angle. I'd recommend to anybody to try out a rimfire challenge, best fun with guns ever
The striker housing on most striker pistols is made of plastic, good friction resistance when using the right thermoplastic and cheaply replaced if it does deteriorate for some odd reason
I was torn between the full size M&P 22, and the TX-22. But, because of the striker fired, round count, slide stop, extra mag, better trigger, and ergonomics, I'm going with the TX-22. Picking one up, Monday!!! I hope he has one in stock.... They've been selling like crazy.
I liked everything about your review except accuracy testing in high winds. Ive been watching all the reviews and plan to pick one up very soon. So far my local gun stores don’t have.
Rural King just ran them on special today for $269.99 plus a $50 rebate from Taurus! Academy will match the price -5% ! With rebate, $219 is a pretty sweet deal.
Hope I get to enjoy this weapon Tx22 . Purchased in January, had issues with barrel and ammo not working! Sent to Taurus for repair in January and Finally shipped back in May!! With barrel and Guide rod recoil spring replaced. So be warned if you need to be repaired it will take at least 4 months 😣😣😥
At 11:02 you mention that Jason Pittman said the TX22 is perfectly safe to dry fire and he said this in a "Guns America" video. Is that video available anywhere? I'd love to see it.
My Favorite handgun EVER of any caliber.I wish it had the same capacity as the Kel Tec .22 magnum model.30 is a nice round number not counting one in the chamber.I would love to see this gun in .22 Magnum.I carry it often in place of my G3C because it’s Super Lite.
In regards to the warranty, Taurus recently announced that they are changing policy and will once again be offering limited lifetime warranties on select firearms, including the TX22, the G2C, G2S, Spectrum and several others.
I love mine. Had to polish the feed ramp to get food reliability though. But that's a nitpick. It's a really good .22 and is fast becoming my favorite .22 pistol. Mine is more accurate than I am. It shoots tin cans just fine out to 45-50 yards.
Great review. How does this firearm compare to the ruger sr22 quality wise? And how easy is it to disengage the magazine release? Some pistols you barely touch the release and it disengages, causing the mag to fall out unintentionally.
The gun having a empty chamber is completely ammo related and not the magazine. Ammo that is loaded too light will not push the slide back far enough to come forward and pick up a new round. My sr22 does this with cheap bulk ammo from time to time. Great review.
Ree B This is the only pistol that I know of, that uses this safety feature. It's also the only company that has managed to RELIABLY "double stack" rimfire rounds in a magazine(KelTec doesn't count, horrible reliability). This thing is perfection. Period. I love mine!!!!
Talked to a guy who owned another Taurus gun and he told me they stand behind their guns but when you call Taurus for warranty work the first question they'll ask you is how many rounds have you put through it and call us back after you've fired couple hundred rounds if the problem continues.
Interesting

excellent review...i'm glad to see that the short trigger pull was discussed...i do not know all the terms of trigger-ology, but i was actually startled when i took it out of the box and dry fired it to get a feel for the trigger...whoa...there is about 1/8" of take-up and about 1/4" or 5/16" of trigger travel before firing...it has a WAAAY shorter travel than is on any of my other single action pistols...i'm not saying this is bad...i'm saying that it surprised me and is something that i'll have to get used to...all this by way of saying BE READY...do NOT put your finger on the trigger until you're ready to fire--but then you knew that...this gun makes you LIVE that warning...everything else is totally straightforward...
That was a really great, thorough review. Excellent job.
Picked up mine today. Can't wait to shoot it. Very well made and 16 round capacity is a plus. 👍
I was curious whether the barrel was fixed or not. You've done a great job at explaining all the fine details for that and more. Nice review, dude!
Wow now that’s a review!! Just picked it up today. Shooting this weekend.
I like it Brother, "My Texas 22!" Great review.
Taurus is looking good.
Great review! I learned alot. I wish I can give you an extra like because I never seen a thumb move like that before when you were explaining the safety.
Great Review! I like it! Thanks for your time!🙏🇺🇸
Rural King just advertised it today (9/25/19) for $269.99 AND Taurus is offering a $50 rebate thru 9/30/19!
Just found your channel. Nice work brother, can't wait to get my hands on one of these TX22's!
Thank you! It is definitely fun. Thanks for watching!
Very good video. A+. A lot of information. Well covered, and a few good comparisons.
Had one just over 2 months, run about 1200 rounds, not one hitch. It's become my favorite gun. Did run some bulk ammo but more were cci 40 grain mini mag, just like them better
Looks even better now that Taurus has updated their warranty from 1 year to Limited Lifetime Warranty.
I am Physical Therapist, in our world TX is short for Therapy.
It is always therapeutic to shoot guns :)
I am 15 to 16 magazines into mine all Aquila HV and I had 1 FTE that was 100% the rounds fault I could feel and hear the l low power from that round.
Try the PT111G2. It's my 9mm carry. 12+1 capacity, about the same size, same sights, four Oz heavier, double strike (sa/da trigger). Can be had for about the same price at the TX22.
Outside the Target,
I have 2 PT111 G2’s.
Cool! I've been wanting a .22 autoloader. This just might be the one.
Thank You! I did briefly compare it to a mark iii in my accuracy video. I don't have a mark IV. Thank you for watching!
Need this with a longer barrel, that should make it a decent range pistol, big mag capacity would come in handy for the free for all fun part.
You mention mounting a scope on the TX22. How did you do that? Universal mount that uses the underside rail?
This is a game changer. I will be buying this one. It's a nice looking piece.
Check out the mag exstention from galloway precision. Turns it from 16 rounds to 20 rounds.
Great review!I will be getting one for a plinker.
Not sure but I read that Taurus handguns now have lifetime warranty again but only to the original buyer might want to check into that
Excellent review, thank you
As long as it's as accurate as most any 9mm full size pistol that will make it a proper training tool, which I think most people want it for
Give it the fluff and buff and make sure the mag is seated and you won't have any feeding issues
Made in USA! That makes it even more attractive.
Brazil & USA
@@tvbox4ktv770 No shitty Brazil here ok idiot?
Great review! Thanks
Who composed that music in the intro? So smooth and nice to listen too. And nice review!
Very well designed! Impressive.
Subscribed! Excellent review.
Outstanding video Bro love the details 👍🏽
At 11:02 you mention that Jason Pittman said the TX22 is perfectly safe to dry fire and he said this in a "Guns America" video. Is that video available anywhere? I'd love to see it.

At the 2:00 mark
Love my TX22. Mine doesn’t like the Golden bullets, seems to shoot everything else pretty good!
It is definitely good. Thanks for watching!
Thank you. Great job.
I've been calling it the Texas 22 also!
Sounds like a co2 pistol w/ the suppressor on. Cool little side arm.
Nice review keep up the great work!
Thank You! Thanks for watching!
In regards to the warranty, Taurus recently announced that they are changing policy and will once again be offering limited lifetime warranties on select firearms, including the TX22, the G2C, G2S, Spectrum and several others.
Great review ! Thanks 🙏
Some pistols you barely touch the release and it disengages, causing the mag
to fall out unintentionally.
The gun having a empty chamber is completely ammo related and not the magazine. Ammo that is loaded too light will not push the slide back far enough to come forward and pick up a new round. My sr22 does this with cheap bulk ammo from time to time. Great review.
I had considered that as well. Thank You! Thanks for watching!
@@gunsaccessories8853 No problem, keep up the good work.
Enjoyed this review. Had to rewatch the trigger safety part to understand it. Is this a new innovation or do others have this?
Ree B This is the only pistol that I know of, that uses this safety feature. It's also the only company that has managed to RELIABLY "double stack" rimfire rounds in a magazine(KelTec doesn't count, horrible reliability). This thing is perfection. Period. I love mine!!!!
I really hope they do a LBP version of this for the UK.
Talked to a guy who owned another Taurus gun and he told me they stand behind their guns but when you call Taurus for warranty work the first question they'll ask you is how many rounds have you put through it and call us back after you've fired couple hundred rounds if the problem continues.
