Cuz it’s strictly a Chicago thing. He’s known for just doin the black hawks games but when the bears started goin to the playoffs again, we had to snatch him up😤
This is the best national anthem song in any sport in the U.S by far. This guy is great i was at the game and i had goosebumps when this was going on. We had a group of guys from green bay there next to me and they said that the reason they where at this game was because they wanted to be at soldier field for this day.
Disclaimer before question - I'm a Marine vet and I love my country. Also, I was at this game. Question - Is it just me or does our beloved Jim sing the anthem like twice the normal speed?
only at soldier field has it come across this way. Doesn't go as fast on home ice. if you liked this, check out the NHL 91 all-star game. the BEST anthem and crowd response in history of any city any sport. Right after we entered desert storm. The disappointing thing is during the game itself they spent more time with players from NHL and other sports sending their support to our troops overseas. Wish we still had that foundation of respect nowadays, but it is what it is
Unfreaking real. I was watching this before I went to work today and had chills!! This guy was simply incredible and the reaction of the crowd was unlike anything I have ever seen.
Just like before a Blackhawks hockey game at the United Center, all the spectators cheered loudly during Jim Cornelison's rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner", but without the organist, unlike at the United Center.
i remember this. it was the tenth anniversary of the horror we all witnessed live on television before us. the death of our contrymen so spectacular, so raw. i expected the somber remberences that characterized the day. i was waiting to see the colts game, and yet i mistakenly found myself watching the opening of the bears game. i stood, as i remember, watching this presentation, hand over heart. i was first impressed by the display from the teams. then waited for a slow, proud, but pained anthem. instead, some man unknown to me kicked in the door of the room and trumpeted the most triumphant rendition of the national anthem i have ever heard. far more fitting the occassion than anything else. what a swelling of pride and strength. my heart charged behind him as he belted out the bold pride of an entire nation. thanks jim.
I had the good fortune to attend yesterday's game with my 8-year old son (on my birthday no less) and I can safely say that no national anthem will ever live up to this one. Absolutely incredible!
Cannot beat the classic version of our song. By FAR the best of all the anthems I heard on 9/11/11. Hats off. He put his heart and soul into it and it showed.
9-11, and they said they would never forget. Well it’s 2020, and they did forget!!! Look at our country now! I am a United States Marine and I truly did never forget and never will! United we stand, divided we fall! GOD PLEASE FORGIVE AND HELP AMERICA! AMEN
Listened to Colbie. Nothing compares to a Chicago national anthem! The passion and patriotism by singers and fans make me proud to be a Chicagoan, a Chicago Bears fan, and an American. :D
I think what strikes me more is just how insane the crowd goes. As not a bears fan no Falcon fan I consider myself very lucky to have stumbled upon this live
United as one For the national anthem. Why kneel and separate us, we must be together as one for this nation and for our brothers and sisters. WE are 1 people, 1 nation, under GOD
Even as a packer fan seeing the players run out there to hold the flag was pretty special. I wasn't big on him singing in the conference championship game, but this one was very special.
Truth to be told, it is rare to see so many fans and players paying respect to the national anthem nowadays. Too many protests have taken place during the singing of the national anthem in the last couple of years. I miss those days where fans would chant 'USA! USA!' in unison after singing the national anthem. Anyways, I will always stand for the national anthem until the day I cannot stand anymore. God bless America!
I'm a Redskins fan but an American first and foremost. I would truly like to thank the fans of the Chicago Bears for their powerful reaction during the National Anthem and of course Jim Cornelison for his beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. Just simply awesome.
I cried when i saw this live and I just got teary eyed watching it again. To those wondering; while I do not like the idea of cheering during the national anthem, it was started during the vietnam war in support of our troops. I honestly feel that mr. Cornielson sings the best rendition of the star spangled banner in the world and am proud to have him as the resident singer for the Blackhawks .
My brother played in this game for the Bears. :) He said it was a chilling feeling and a great sense of pride that overwhelmed him. God bless the USA!!! Love, A Simple Tongan boy from small town Utah.
@golt73 that is what happens at blackhawks games all the time. bone chilling, i hate when people think its disrespectful to cheer, but we are showing our appreciation the way Chicagoians do.
Very moving clip! We will simply never forget what happened and what those brave heroes did for us that day. Plus, from my understanding, the fellow singing is the one who performs for the Blackhawks.
This is how the national anthem should be sung. Such passion, energy, power, and patriotism. I am all in favor of banning pop stars from singing, I mean butchering, the national anthem. Just let Corny sing the national anthem at every superbowl etc. For those 6 people who dislike this, if you live in America, get the F OUT! We don't want you in our country!
Man I wish that guy could sing the National Anthem at every American sporting event. As a Packer fan, this is the only thing I like about the Bears fans. I love how you guys cheer loud as fuck during this. It's pretty fucking awesome. Gives me the goosey bumps.
It is so ironic that Falcons fans are cheering and clapping as well...Best national anthems in the world are in Chicago, and the only reason we do it, is to keep those lousy Canadians from booing at it. It is not a sign of disrespect, it is tradition and a sign of loyalty and respect for all.
That guy is a legend in Chicago for the national anthem
I`m Canadian and I love this. Gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.
This gave me goose bumps when I watched this live. How come they haven't asked him to sing at the Super Bowl?
Cuz it’s strictly a Chicago thing. He’s known for just doin the black hawks games but when the bears started goin to the playoffs again, we had to snatch him up😤
Cause he’s not a hot chick
Cause they just want pop stars
God bless America! Greetings from Germany

Love back🇺🇸
Liebe aus Amerika!
I'm in tears.
Cheering during the national anthem should not just be a Blackhawks tradition, it should be for all Chicago teams.
true story.
it should be done not only in chicago, the whole damn country should do it it'll make the heavens proud. 2:09 2:14

We get this every time the Hawks play at home. He is a god damn legend.

Amazing Rendition of the song, makes me proud to be an American every time.
Love this Chicago tradition of cheering through the anthem!
Absolutely the best rendition I have ever heard! I remember watching this live on tv with goosebumps and tears of pride in my eyes.

Thank you for serving the USA in the United States Marine Corps.
Love this NFL needs 2 do this again🇺🇸
Unfreaking real. I was watching this before I went to work today and had chills!! This guy was simply incredible and the reaction of the crowd was unlike anything I have ever seen.
I agree...greatest anthem in the history of anthems. No ego-induced performance, just passion. My heart was in my throat. Thumbs up if you agree!
I come back to watch this every year
Best in the Business! Goosebumps every anthem I hear him sing!
Still gives me chills to this day 🔥🔥🔥
1:13 Crowd: "Jim's here? AMERICA FUCK YEAH!"
BEST EVER = THANK YOU JIM
I will ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS
this is awesome cuz the crowd is into it. The other games the singers were very mellow, but this opera-ish version totally pumps us up. God Bless!
Just like before a Blackhawks hockey game at the United Center, all the spectators cheered loudly during Jim Cornelison's rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner", but without the organist, unlike at the United Center.
Nobody sings the National anthem better than Jim Comelison he does really good at Bears, Cubs, Blackhawks games he is da best
Literally teared up, still do watching this.
I love that the football players came out to help hold the flag.
brought tears to my eyes he sang with so much passion you could tell how much this ment to him and verybody there simply outstanding
Still the best version I’ve ever seen.
This video is an example of why Chicago is the best place for the national anthem.
Holy mother of mercy, that should be the OFFICIAL rendition of the national anthem!
i remember this. it was the tenth anniversary of the horror we all witnessed live on television before us. the death of our contrymen so spectacular, so raw. i expected the somber remberences that characterized the day. i was waiting to see the colts game, and yet i mistakenly found myself watching the opening of the bears game. i stood, as i remember, watching this presentation, hand over heart. i was first impressed by the display from the teams. then waited for a slow, proud, but pained anthem. instead, some man unknown to me kicked in the door of the room and trumpeted the most triumphant rendition of the national anthem i have ever heard. far more fitting the occassion than anything else. what a swelling of pride and strength. my heart charged behind him as he belted out the bold pride of an entire nation. thanks jim.
Hands down best national anthem ever. Love the voice, love the energy! Jim's the man!
I love 💗 when the NFL does Baltimore ravens and Minnesota Vikings players introductions for the 2022-2023 season
Thank you good sir. Someone who actually understands what 9/11 was and doesn't treat it like a joke. I respect you for that.
I had the good fortune to attend yesterday's game with my 8-year old son (on my birthday no less) and I can safely say that no national anthem will ever live up to this one. Absolutely incredible!
Wow amazing Jim is absolutely the best we love u Jim. Chicago's finest
Cannot beat the classic version of our song. By FAR the best of all the anthems I heard on 9/11/11. Hats off. He put his heart and soul into it and it showed.
Had to come back to watch again. 9/11 🙏🏻
EPIC!!!
I recognized his voice right away
Wow. That was fantastic. The atmosphere in that stadium must have been electric. Greetings from Great Britain 🇬🇧
Simply wonderful

Too bad they couldn't have found a better singer than this guy. I had chills though because of what this stands for. Proud to be an American!
Will I lose my manhood if I admit that I had to fight back tears?
I think what strikes me more is just how insane the crowd goes. As not a bears fan no Falcon fan I consider myself very lucky to have stumbled upon this live
best performance of the day. the guy nailed it!!!
This is how Chicago does the anthem..Every one should experience it once in person. If you dont get chills in person than you have no soul.
Jim Cornielison is the man! He's always around at Hawks games to talk to, more importantly thank.
This is by far the BEST national anthem peformance of all time. Makes me bawl.
ANOTHER GREAT MOMENT IN TIME FOREVER SAVED BY RUclips. THANK YOU RUclips !!!!

Best singing of our national anthem I've ever heard.
I can’t stop crying😭
Wow........Jim killed it. Chills
America!! No kneeling! One nation! Together!!
i am so glad this was posted the same day he sang it
Got damn Chi-city does it big. What better tribute then to play America's game to celebrate and honor those who have died ten years later
Those chills that you get from this when you are in Soldier Field generally don't go away until the second quarter.
At Times My Voice Goes!!!!!!!!! 🤠
And that, my American citizen's friends, is the way it is supposed to be done! GOD 🎶BLESS 🎶THE 🎶U🎶S🎶A🎶🎶 🎶🎶 🎶🎶
I love watching the other team, "What the hell is happening?!?" Welcome to Chi-town.
He sang that LIKE A BOSS.
this guy should be the national national anthem singer

I'm a huge fan of the way Wayne Messmer sings the national anthem, but I have to admit, Corny gave me goose bumps. Nicely done.
Wow! Wow! Wow! That was the most powerful national anthem I've ever heard!
