Thanks. Yeah, if it was just a quick wash, I would cover it. But with no direct pressure washing and a blow dry AND knowing it would be sitting for a couple of days, I was comfortable know it wasn't going to cause any issues. It is good practice though.
Thanks very much. For this one I used Valet PRO Bilberry wheel cleaner and then ceramic coated them to make them easier to clean. The customer said that due to where the pipes sit, a lot of exhaust mess goes straight onto the rear wheel. So a proper protected like ceramic was the best option.
Absolutely gorgeous, brother! I have been loving the HD Fat Boy way before it even became popular by Arnold in "Terminator!" It fits my 6' 1/2" 240-245 lb'ish athletic-weight lifter body style. Hehehe 😊 That new deep blue 💙 color that's come out over the past few years is beautiful. I first saw it on the new Audi in Fujian Province, China when I was teaching an array of Aviation Maintenance subjects (Turbine Engines, Monocogue and Semi Monocogue fuselages, Hydraulics, Aerodynamics, Avionics/Electrical, GPS, Emergency Procedures, Maintenance Forms and Records, etc., to Freshmen and Sophomore students. Thanks very much. I’ve always been a bit of a Harley fan, but I also like to ride for a bit of fun, so I compromised and got the Buell XB12. Perfect hit of both worlds 👌
8 months on and the bike still looks peachy, lots of comments when I’m out riding. I’ll be back when the weather breaks. A top job that makes cleaning even easier.
@Paul Paul thank you so much, from a distance it looks black, when the sun shines on it, the metallic blue sings. No regrets at all, every ride the bike makes you smile, lots of compliments outside pubs/Cafes. Even questions of would I sell. I purchased the extra three years warranty, so covered for five years from Harley. Only slight issue was a lazy battery when left last winter unused, I purchased a Harley charger, 100% since. The I love the looks, however the standard seat is a challenge after a few miles, it came with a touring ‘saddle’ from HD, a £550 option… so much better for longer miles, however it sits higher. The detachable screen is great for colder times and stops longer riding wind buffering. It has a quick release sissy bar which is great when my Wife or Daughter come out. Stage one is a minimum, exhausts, the sound is amazing, however because they are short shots, the exhaust gasses were turning the back wheel yellowish. (Ceramic coating from Jim, absolute must, stopped the yellowing and makes it so easy to clean.) the fuel pac and mandatory filter… standard without these mods sound lame. The biggest annoyance was the indicator switches, too short, I kept missing the indicators and I kept looking down to check, Hogpart do extenders for very little, problem solved. I come from a back ground or Fireblades, Hayabusa’s, streetfighers and adventure bikes. After this selection, the wide profile tyres caught me off guard at the first mini roundabout. Felt like it didn’t want to turn, once you get your head around it, it’s fine. I’ve slowed down which is a good thing, a totally different bike, as stated every ride feels special. I’m not into ‘the Harley lifestyle’ however each to their own. If you want to feel great and get asked lots of question by non bikers, the Fatboy delivers. Lots of reviews on RUclips, the tall grey hair guy with his son from the UK does the first M8 FB to the 2022. Worth a look. Hope this helps
I’m so sorry. The vacuum chamber has yet to be priced within my budget. As soon as I get to 1 million subs, I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again 😉👍 Thanks for watching.
3 quick questions; What product do you recommend for bug and tar remover that is safe for bikes and their windshields? And do you apply anything to the bike/windshield after the cleaning to make "maintenance washes" afterwards easier? It looked like you did a ceramic coat onthe bike and wheels, but I didnt see how you cleaned or protetcted the windhshield afterwards. MY VTX is in need of a full detail. Im an old school carnuba wax guy that is now realizing there are better methods and technologies out there to scratch my paint less and get longer protection. SO....can you provide a quick reply on how I can make it easier? Thanks! you videos are relaxing to watch...LOL
Thanks very much for watching. If there are stuck on bugs, I tend to give them a soak in the Valet PRO Bilberry and then pressure wash them off. I’m currently using the Valet PRO Tar & Glue remover, but I’ve used others and they all seem pretty similar. If you really want to fully protect the screen, I’d suggest some paint protection film (ppf). It’s not cheap, but it’ll protect it from getting light scratches from contact washes.
@@detailtherapy thanks for the reply. I spent 6 hours on the VTX today. Washed, clay bar, Polishing compound, maguiers Hybrid spray wax, and then spent 2 hrs on Polishing the Aluminuim rims....The windshield is the part I struggle with the most. Always seems to leave scratches in the plastic/ lexan if I try to go for highly polished. UGG> looks way better though! Have a great weekend.
Thanks. The only thing I don’t always do is cover up the air filter. I’ve never had an issue with it. I will always cover the battery if it’s exposed, and spray the gauges, hand controls and other electrical connections from a distance. The air blower helps to remove sitting water from all the nooks and crannies too.
For general maintenance washing that’s definitely good practice. But for the deep cleans I regularly do, I don’t mind going a little harder. Never had an issue with it.
Almost certainly not. But since you mentioned it, my pressure washer is turned down quite a lot and I never spray close up on any bearings, electrical connections or gaskets. Never had an issue.
Why didn't you cover the air filter with masking tape? Exchausts should be plugged as well. All electric switches, indicators and lock on the fork should be covered. Water will not do any good to those. Also, remove the seat, it should be treated separately. Sorry, but I cannot bear to watch!
I know that some of those areas are a common concern for water ingress on older vehicles, but these days they are all quite water/weather proof and in the hundreds of bikes I’ve done, it’s never been an issue. Also, the seat was removed at the polishing stage and the area was cleaned separately to avoid too much water in the main electrical area of the bike. I understand your point though.
Aí, parceiro, vou te falar: melhor que uma vagina. Na boa. Tenho uma igualzinha só que o pára-lama traseiro é diferente - encurtado - e coloquei um "seca" de 14".

I agree. I would love one of these too.
Thanks for watching 👍
Man, just from the start, the music is so chill, makes enjoy the video so much better, good job.
Appreciate it. Picking the music is probably the hardest part of the editing 😓
Looks good, I usually put a plastic bag over my air filter so it doesn't get wet then pull it off when I've washed the bike
Thanks.

Fat boys solid rims are dope !
Totally agree 🤙

Not gonna lie, ended up checking them out on eBay 😆
Awesome work, I’m so glad you gave it back.

Hello, can you tell me how you clean your rims, please.
Hi,
Are you asking about something different to what’s shown in the video?
@@detailtherapy i would just like to know what you use to clean the rims of your fatboy
I try not to jet wash mine, I use a garden sprayer, especially near the paper air filter and electrics
For general maintenance washing that’s definitely good practice. But for the deep cleans I regularly do, I don’t mind going a little harder. Never had an issue with it.
Nice wash but why didn’t you cover the air filter 😬
Thanks. Depending on how the filter sits, I will sometimes cover it. I've never had any issues when I haven't though.
Nice work 👏 what do you use to clean the wheels?
Thanks.
I’m currently using Valet Pro Bilberry Wheel Cleaner or KKD Devils Juice if they are really bad.
