It's time to attempt a monotype hc nuzlocke that hasn't been attempted before... let's find out why! We've officially moved into the new house by the way, so it might take a bit of time to get things all set up, but you best believe we'll be on upload overdrive once we're all settled in! If anybody wants to attempt the mega-hardcore version of this run, technically it’s possible to get a rock type right at the start of the game fully legitimately. Using the Pokémon Dream Radar game you can obtain and trade over a Shuckle as soon as you get the Pokédex. I don’t know how viable it would be to use a Shuckle, granted, but I would certainly be fascinated to see!
Wish me luck, I'll provide updates (current attempt number: 1) NOTE: Should I try Shuckle only for the chuckles and fuckles? EDIT 1: New game started on Pokemon Black 2 and Shuckle was obtained from dream radar (Gender: Female, Nature: Jolly, Ability: Contrary) EDIT 2: Help me with a list of names as I have no creative imagination thanks. EDIT 3: I'm starting to think that contrary shuckle is broken. The enemy pokemon keep growling or leering and I just use roll-out as its the only stab/decent move currently while they buff me. Don't fuckle with shuckle. EDIT 4: Got scared thinking I might break the level cap but got to Cheren at level 13 thank God. Also Shuckle just rolled through his whole team so badge 1 complete. I'm thinking a shuckle only run is completely viable except I don't have defence curl in gen 5 so I can't max damage roll-out. But it's still fairly powerful provided I don't flinch or get paralysed. EDIT 5: Shuckle died to a grimer in virbank city gym. Poison gas coupled with disabling my roll-out caused Shuckles demise. End of Run 1. Will restart tomorrow.
Personally when I did this run I started with Onix over Gigalith, since it's the mon you have the means to guarantee as an encounter through Repels and dust clouds. Onix kinda just hard carried through the first 5 gyms with Curse or Rock Polish (or sometimes both), especially with the Eviolite and Rest for recovery. From that point on I just abused Shell Armor Crustle againsy the remaining gyms and most of the E4.
Can’t stop watching these challenges I absolutely love them. I’ve never done a nuzlocke myself but want to try in the future. Love your vibes man keep them coming!!
@@FireFog44 The only problem with that is Lileep is weak to Dwebble’s bug moves, and Roggenrola isn’t. I agree with you, only if Dwebble was already gone.

Almost right on regarding the early Ultra Ball, although the earliest you can get one is right after you get poke balls in Ruby/Sapphire with Zigazagoon's pickup
You’ve got some awesome timing. I just finished watching your Platinum run recently and when it finished I was like “wish he had a new Gen 5 run”. Then I see “13 minutes ago uploaded”. Excellent! Anyway, scary timing aside. Your videos are always awesome.
He still had Marshall left after Caitlin and was still under the Lvl. 58 level cap so when Fleet got up to 59 he was technically over leveled for the elite 4 not the champion fight
Have you thought about recording the gym battles, E4 and champion gaemplay with live voice instead of commentary, but having commentary for the remainder of the video? I feel like the video would be more engaging on the battles? Great vid though! Rock only HC nuzlocke would be my worst nightmare😂
Great video man, as always love the content! One thing I would suggest is, if you're doing a challenge where a mon is locked behind the post game I bet the majority of your fans would be more than happy for you to set one of those as your starter. Just a suggestion, keep up the great work 😄
the issue is that these vids are meant to show that its possible with nothing more than what the base game itself gives you. hacking roggenrola early is fine, you'll get one later anyway guaranteed so getting it early makes no difference (you'll notice that he skipped the onix encounter he could have gotten in that area where roggenrola was normally first available, because if he had not used hacks then that cave would have been roggenrolas encounter location). hacking in a pokemon you cant normally get at all defeats the point of the challenge.
@@ahumanbeingfromtheearth1502 While I see your point, I would argue that the distinction between base game availability and post game availability is not a big difference, as long as the devs intended on you being able to use them in the game. I can totally understand not making your starter a mon such as Rhyhorn or Omanyte because they aren't in the game, but Archen, Tirtouga, or Larvitar, were intended to be useable, and may have made the challenge possible.
@@ahumanbeingfromtheearth1502 Because, as I said, they were programmed into the games. That is the biggest distinction between which Pokémon should be used in a challenge.

Is there any reason why you didn't pick the Onix in Relic Passage? Just because you already counted having caught the Rogenrola there?
