Audi makes 444bhp - Lexus makes 472 bhp, same weight. Both brands are lying 🤥😂😂😂
Not really, I think the lexus is just outdated, especially that transmission. It build power too slow
Audi, AWD and more better automatic transmission. 👍🏼😉😎
The difference maker is audi awd.
@@dude-yg9ez AWD is a disadvantage in a roll race. How did the RS5 still win with less HP and bigger drivetrain loss because of AWD?
@@_Mario_PL_ more low end torque, has about 45lbft more
Before the video even played, I was like “okay, I think we’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves here” there was just no way the IS500 can compete with RS5. I think the S5 is more of a fair challenge.
Yeah
Yeah
But according to the specs. They have close to the same horsepower. So why not ?
@@boostedscooby1 Lexus transmission is old and outdated
The s4 would win too
Talking from experience, the RS5 is an axe murderer in a tailored suit. Fun race nonetheless.
I'd like to see the RS5 and bmw M2 CS
@@ndumisobulose6991 M4 Competition AWD makes more sense.
U know the m4 will smoke the audi
It murders your wallet when things go wrong down the track too lol
Yes it is a sleeper #my22RS5launchedition
I think Sam is missing one of the most important factors - although the RS5 has less HP, it critically has more torque, and more importantly its twin turbo makes its peak torque and HP almost throughout the entire rev range. The naturally aspirated V8 in the IS has to get to much higher RPM just to get to its peak power.
The transmission in the Lexus is very slow to upshift.
As an IS500 owner before watching the video I already knew the outcome the RS5 is a monster.
Yeah but it takes twin turbos and all-wheel drive to make it a monster and it's not as reliable as the is500 or as good looking of a car
@@nathanlopez5667 looks will always be subjective. The IS500 has two more cylinder so of course the RS5 needs forced induction to make V8 power. At the end of the day, the IS500 is just not a top performer
Same man, I also own an IS 500. I definitely do appreciate the content just to see where we stack up against other cars out there.
@@nathanlopez5667 wah wah wah🥲

More horsepower on paper maybe, but NO Lexus is a match for the equivalent class and underrated power, Audi RS model. That's blatantly obvious before this race begins. Despite this, the IS500 would be my choice between those 2 due to that sonorous V8 alone.
That's why I went with the older RS5. That and I can't afford a new one. The 4.2 V8 just sounds so good.
@@DESTcmndr
Awesome car!!
What!! Shit for the v8 if it’s weak like that in is500 , also kia stinger makes 345 hp on tier can kill the is500 😂😂
The only reason for this result is the fact that the Audi has all wheel drive.
@@wanyelewis9667
It definitely helps. The well tuned LC does as well. Not sure that is the only advantage though.
I love that you get so many combinations of cars in these races! Thanks for the vids man
...plus THAT green on the RS5🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can't wait to see this against the S5, I saw the title and knew the result but still had to see 👀. Also some folks just don't understand torque is also a factor is racing seeing the Audi gets peak torque almost 3k rpm sooner than the Lexus and the Audi makes like 50lb/ft of torque more or so. I mean it's not that surprising but still was a good video.
Exactly higher horsepower figures don't matter as opposed to higher torque figures that come in earlier in the power band. I would gladly take a 1000lbft that comes in at 2000rpm, that a 9000rpm high horsepower screamer

@You were Born stupid Have you seen the races featuring the Elantra N on his channel? It smokes the majority of the cars it races. I guess you are living up to your name…
I wasn’t the least bit surprised by the results. An RS5 is on another level than that IS. It’s dream car fast.

@@walkemdown4127 thats exactly my point, they are not in the same category.RS/M/63 amg are a real performance vehicles, is500 is just a sedan with a v8. They also cost +20k more than is500, they in a different category. nobody cross shops c63/m3 or rs5 with an is500 lol
i have seen a rs5 flooring from a stop. it felt everything were frozen and only rs5 was moving.
When Toyota said "Lexus make a sleeper" they didn't get the script quite right, as everybody is falling asleep.💤
Imagine the GT2 Stinger easily kept up with it☠️
Maybe try it with a S5 instead, it should be a good race!
There’s no other car that can put power down like a Audi Quattro
Simple the Audi is in its powerband for longer, yes the Lexus might make more peak power but the Audi makes more torque and is in its powerband at like 3.5k rpms to redline. Lexus needs to get its rpms up over 6500 to make over 400hp lol.
That is not that relevant in a roll race with 8 sp transmissions that allow the Lexus to start the race and stay in a tight rpm range in the power band . I would bet money the Audi is putting out more peak hp than the Lexus at the wheels . Very common among German automakers to underrate hp
The younger guy with the glasses don’t know how to drive. Look how he uses the pedal
I have an IS500 and it's the results I expected. I'm have no intention in selling it because it lost a race... lol

@You were Born stupid nah that quality is getting boring, it's time for toyota/lexus to come out of their comfort zone. The yaris gr is a step in the right direction, adding forced induction brings some much needed character to the model line once again. There's currently a limited production of a supercharged variant of the current lx570, with 550hp.
@You were Born stupid more horsepower doesn't equate to drag racing. Top exotics like Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley have tons off power but they're not lining up with anyone majority of the time. Having sufficient power adds to the overall driving experience you dig. If that's the case, then lexus need not line up with anyone, especially ones with lesser quality, it's embarrassing 😒
I figured the results were going to be what they were, but the driver of the IS500 on the roll races 🤦♂️ you got to be kidding me. Has he ever driven anything before this?
Love that Audi 6. Got one in my tt quattro love it and it's gorgeous design
Lexus should be embarrassed. They tout all of the power in the IS500 and preivously in the RC-F and LC500 and none of the cars are close to competitive to their direct rivals. In this case the IS500 completely outpowers the M340i and C43 AMG, but both of those cars handily beat it. The RC-F doesn't even come close to the C63 AMG or previous gen M4 and not even in the same universe as the current M4. The LC500 is probably more competitive, only becuase there are not many direct rivals to it anymore.
Why lexus should be embarrassed for??.. people who buy the c63AMG an the m4 85% of the time drive them like a prius. An people who drive the a Lexus really drive them like they stole it 😅
The problem with this comparo is that it assumes people buy these cars to drag race them. If it were a quality and enjoyment comparo, things would be different.
I liked the video because of how he explained rocket science.
Japanese vs German engineering. No surprise here.
Reliability vs HP. Give my HP any day. Japanese sports sedans have fallen off big time
As someone who deals with Japanese and German engineering daily at work, I'll take Japanese every time. With the Germans its all about ego, at the expense of everything else.
Look at the all the lexus butthurt with their more hp excuses, I bet a 300hp civic is beating that lexus too. It's just not tuned right.
Lmao u a hater all I see is hate comments from you u just be lonely guy
Toyota fanboys only run on reliability, ignoring the fact that Toyota has the highest recall rate of all manufacturers. And they’re only reliable because the technology is so dated and the engines are the same as they were 15 years ago.
@You were Born stupid lol that why the Lexus IS not selling? 😂😂😂
My A3 WHP was the factory listed HP. Audi and VW underrate their HP numbers.
Lexus IS500 : very old.. granfather style
I already knew the outcome before watching the video lol Those RS Audis are absolute monsters. I’d still take that IS500 though 👍🏼
Why lol, the Lexus is just an overpriced Toyota.
@@nonamenoname4641 unless you are millionaire, that Audi is going to give you terrible problems if it's not well maintained. And maintenance for an European car is freaking expensive. A naturally aspirated V8 will be reliable af. Also, Toyota = proven reliability.

Try to manage the same speed before roll instead of "pumping" throttle trying to level with other car :) This cause cars to swing and sometimes it ends like in first roll here where Lexus started to accelerate later than Audi becasue driver was pumping throttle before strat line. I hope above make sense.
Here’s the difference though in 10-12 years the is500 still going to retain its resale value a lot more than that Audi. The older ISF still going for 20k plus even till today.
the previous gen RS5s are going for $40-50k
@@Ninjasteezify yeah but their value drops at a pretty good amount compare to lexus. And 2008 ISF still going for at least 27k plus and the 2014 is still around 40k plus. Not to mention it will last much much much longer.
@@testing448 For regular audis Id agree but RS cars hold value pretty well from what Ive seen. A 2008 RS4 is $30k still. I def give reliability to lexus, but recent RS audis are reasonably reliable for a performance car. For daily driving def lexus, but if I was looking for performance car I don't think the extra reliably would make up for the decrease in performance imo but to each their own. I will say tho the ISFs were great cars, its just these recent lexus that are lagging a bit in performance.
Expected results as it should be for a sport car such as RS5
I’m not claiming my ISF is a factory freak or anything but I have exhaust and drop-in filter w/ minor weight reduction and was neck and neck with a new RS5 from a roll on the highway. Audi cars aren’t really great from a roll but from a dig they shine

Audi German power 🔋
Would be fun to see the is500 vs the infiniti m56 sport
The Lexus is not more powerful because if you know anything about cars it’s not about the horsepower but the torque. Educate yourself. Torque always wins races
Audi makes some fast cars.
Im shocked as people here clearly do not understand the diff between NA and turbocharged engines power delivery. Although Lexus has more power, it makes that power @7100 rpm, which is only 200 below the redline. Lexus’s turbocharged competitors are another stories. To me driving this V8 is all about emotions and experiences. Stupid “fast” will just get board so quickly. You do not drive the spec sheet, it’s about the experience you’ll remember in the long time
I personally get what you are saying, but this is a simple drag race and not a driving experience test. I'm sure if this were a full driving experience review of both cars, the natural aspired engine would most likely come up on top. Both force induction and natural aspired engines serve different purposes and when it comes to the driving experience part, n/a engines sound and responsiveness is an experience of its own.
That's what it's all about, but those other folks need a win badly cause they don't understand basic engineering. Torque plays a bigger factor than most realize but for some reason they only understand horsepower 🤣
@@brandonhughes401 Exactly, the torque curves are totally different too. Not trying to be any fans of particular brands or whatever, I just wish people look things from other prospects.
There’s no hope sam 😂 I love your Channel sam!
Something seams off here.
As a lexus owner, did anyone really expect different results?! Everyone knows all lexus models are slower than the competition. There's no news here. There are no excuses for lexus.
IS500 goes against S5, it's not an IS F after all.
Even that, the IS500 can do much better than what it did in this video. The driver doesn't know how to get the most out of the 8 speed...
The lexus just doesn't compete no point of making excuses for it
Advantages here are the AWD, extra torque, faster transmission shifts, the turbo does make power differently to N/A (different torque curve) and lastly .....that kid driving the Lexus on the roll race 🤦 🤣 both very nice cars, but everyday is not a drag race 😉
rs cars are monsters 🔥🔥🔥
Lexus have terrible transmissions and gearing. Probably what makes the biggest difference here, rather than power.
The Direct Shift 8 speed in the IS500 is amazing. It's just that idiots don't know how to operate it then blame the transmission.
Keep them Coming Sam! Nice Races!
How did this happen?? Audi makes less HP and they are almost the same weight. Could be because of Twin Turbocharged and AWD vs NA. Expected the Lexus to be much closer. Another reason Sam had to let his own Lexus go lol. Once again Sam good choice.
Lexus has a well built, but dinosaur transmission
Audi rs5 vs roush mustang 10 speed please
Lexus needs some massive weight reductions for their cars to be a worthy contender. How do you make a car that heavy and it doesn't have AWD? It's not just the IS500.. the RC F is the same even though the length of it is quite compact, but then again that's not what the cars were made for. It was meant to be a luxurious vehicle with a little sportiness.
They are reliable, but should be, they are so light on sportiness that the drivetrain is not under much stress. Owned 7 Lexus’s, not all were reliable, but most were. Have owned BMWs and Audi’s , since. So much more fun, and the aftermarket is bonkers on BMWs.
@@leedye6687 yeah I respect Lexus for making solid, reliable cars, but when compared to say an f80 m3 these cars aren’t even comparable. Lexus needs to shave some weight and really make a sports sedan comparable with the m3.
@@OleMisss yes so reliable that Sam got rid of his after all the visits to the dealership. Top notch reliability.
@@OleMisss no shit, Lexus does NOT make aggressive sports cars. They aren't Mercedes, Audi, or especially BMW.
They have made 1/20th the sports cars the other brands have. They had the extremely low production and bespoke Lexus GSF, ISF, and the RCF. That's about it, and the rare and amazing Lexus LC500 which has brilliant reviews.
To say, "Lexus needs to have some weight and make a sedan to conquer the M3," means you have no idea how far companies work, and don't understand Lexus. They aren't going to spend a ton of money to make some sports sedan to rival the M3 that has way more development money and a legacy that isn't their target market and will NOT sell well. The RS5 is gorgeous.
German engineering is just better than the Japanese , it’s that simple, sorry not sorry 🥳
I still prefer the IS500….a better car when it comes to reliability, build quality, value retention and daily use. It will be just as reliable and solid ten years from now when the Audi is rusting away in some junkyard.
Everyone knows Germans underrate their hp, just like the 335hp for the bmws, and they beat 400hp cars lol, this rs5 probably has 400-410 whp which should be alittle over 500hp
IS500 does not compete with the RS5 it compete with the S5, 340i, Type S, G70 etc.
Really, how so? The IS500 has a V8 with more power than RS5.
Lexus and Acura are just sad when it comes to engine power to real world driving/racing.
Yet the Genesis G70 and Stinger GT2 easily keep up with it, having 100hp less. M340 and S5 are just beasts of its own. Type S gets beat up by family economic sedans like the Accord and K5 GT

Any Lexus product will outlast any Audi product. I'll take the Lexus over the Audi.
I don’t think that RS5 is stock it’s revs all the way to the redline which Audi had a soft limiter on their cars for the longest time and only an ecu tune can remove that to my knowledge. And it drops that Lexus like it’s an is350 and not the is500. With that said the Audi would win anyways
Did you not hear the audi hitting the soft limiter during the sound check?
I guess you don’t know the difference between rev limiter and soft limiter. No car bounces of the soft limiter only rev limiter people aren’t always honest about their car in case they lose they can claim that they’re stock
German powertrain´s are a little bit different to Japanese and most American powertrain´s, the engine´s produces more HP to the wheels and they have perfectly matched automatic transmission´s.

Maybe its 472hp to the crank and about 390 to the wheels
They are all rated at the crank by the manufacturer. It's just if they are stretching the truth or not lol like BMWs usually make to the wheels what their "crank" hp numbers state.
@@q6_zilla VW and Audi are known for rating hp at the wheels. They do so for marketing purposes. Crank hp is a worthless metric when drivetrain losses dictate how much power a car is actually putting to the ground. I don’t why it’s even measured like that anymore lol..

It could just be the Lexus is simply too slow for the competition. Same 5L engine/8 spd auto from over a decade ago. Luxury and reliability then go Lexus but from a performance aspect, there are way better options for the price.
Someone teach them to stop hitting the Rev limiters between gears.
