- The 2022 M4 Competition XDrive (Starting Price CAD$91,600 / US$78,800) is the first M4 to have AWD which means it might be able to take on the 2021 Audi RS5 (Starting Price CAD$86,550 / US$75,900) XDrive VS Quatto...but for good measure we decided a 2021 Nissan GT-R (Starting Price CAD$130,498 / US$113,540) would be an interesting benchmark... That's cause of the hierarchy in the VAG. Audi can't step in Porsche or Lamborghini territory. Still i would pick S5 Sportback over it's competitors any day because it's both fast and practical.

Unlike a BMW or Mercedes, though, we as VAG owners have the advantage of companies like APR tuning on our side, giving out 80hp gains in a single ECU tune for about 1200USD. BMW and Mercedes don't really have those...

Before 2018 I'm also an Audi Rs fan. Because back then they still have their spirit and advantages.
But in recent two years it's like the company itself loses interest in competing with M and AMG, they're not even trying.
Worse powertrain, worse handling, worse exhaust, worse special design characters, worse marketing and worse product lineup.

@@jayroman3384 Pure MSRP alone, you can add 25k of options (carbon fiber pack inside and out, full leather, ACC, the more expensive seats, etc...) to any variant of the M3/4. The press cars that have been used in most reviews are VASTLY more expensive than they need to be. I see the Exec Pack (possibly) or just the Laser Lights on the one in this video but no evidence of the price-inflating and mostly cosmetic options that we've seen on most test cars (based on US options...I know the Canadian packs are a bit different).
Can we all appreciate the fact that the GTR is like a million years old and still slaying its competitors.

That GTR has 565 hp with a aftermarket exhaust that gain you up to 10% more power even stock has 62 more hp than the m4 and 121 hp more than the RS5. 600hp m4 xdrive can keep up with 911 922 turbo s. that gtr is not the yellow from the egg

Story of a lot of tuned cars. The dyno numbers don't necessarily translate into real world perf.

Back in the 90s, if you wanted driving fun you’d get M3, if you wanted traction you’d get RS4, if you wanted quality and extravagant power you would get AMG. Now, M3 is the best for everything.

I would say new gen Audi interiors are much nicer than bmws. I would also say merc interiors are also nicer, I know they creek but they still feel more luxurious. BMW is definitely doing some wicked stuff in the performance department. Sad to see how slow the rs5 is without mods.
Audi stagnated with Quattro while the others caught up.
Years go by and the GT-R still makes an engine sound that makes an engraving on our neural system. Unmatched, except maybe for an LFA.
Nothing tops the LFA although GTR does sound amazing I think the gt350 sounds better than the GTR.
lfa, e60 m5, v12 merc and many others sound as good if not better

Don't be sad about it...when it launched, it got people mentally upside down and the fact that it could hold its crown for so long, for the price Nissan asked, just goes to show why the GTR has always been an amazing car.

The 8 speed in the M3’s are incredible, it turns these sport cars into super sport level along with a (base) GT-R.
That Xdrive is insane it beats the GTR from the start 🙌

Gtr would smoke the m4 csl off the line if they had someone normal driving it check the dyno sheets the csl has 590 crank hp and gtr has 560 yet the gtr quarter mile time is quicker 🤦♂️

"What MONSTER it was when it forst got released"? Since it was released, the GT-R gained around 85hp and 50Nm of torque. So power-wise a 2021 GT-R has nothing to do with a GT-R from "when it first got released"... Same goes for suspension, transmission, anti-roll-bars, mapping, etc..
True, the car is definitely good but at its new price you can get one at like 100,000+. There’s a lot of other performance cars at it’s price that are better then it. And even if not..it’s not getting any younger and the competition are just getting faster. (And before anyone says “wElL WhAT AbOuT tUnE”..keep in mind a 90’s honda civic with enough upgrades can be a rocket. Or in short, throw enough money at anything and it’ll go fast

Mine spins all the time. Might just be the stock tires 🤷♂️. Definitely looking to get something stickier when I wear these out.

@@Hellofadrive You do know that BMW under rate their specs. Check out the dyno results of stock M4 vs. stock GTR. Both have similar 1/4mi. times despite the M4 having smaller engine displacement. Note: M4 engine has been put on a one time test that yield 1000hp on stock internals. If true, M4 is bringing a new different ball game.

Bmw is a head even when it comes to quality. Audi and benz creek too much. Bmws are so sturdy.
It’s is a wonderful lineup. Car is overall beautiful. Stop complaining.
Also, not a great deal but, the whole size of the chassis is way bigger than what it used to be. M3 were also known to be a compact sports coupe. Now it's just so bulky and heavy

Performance ! yes BMW M is the best of three for perfect weekend and rally drive, but quality is very negligible to compare lol =)) Audi and mercedes are top-notch quality and I didn’t see any failure. BMW otherwise needs a lot of maintenance and depreciate so much here in Europe. I always find a way cheaper deal of BMW in the same class of Mer and Audi

I would love to see a roll race between the RWD and XDrive versions of the M4/M3. Just to see if the XDrive is disadvantaged at higher speeds.
XDrive will murder the rear wheel drive... only on a track race, RWD might be able to win, or a 1-2 mile drag race... on a quarter mile RWD has no chance
RWD has less drivetrain loss of power and weight I think. Would be interesting. I don't know if the XDrive comes in an automatic though does it?

This really shows just how long it took the 3 series to hit GTR level performance.
Well not really. A GTR is a performance machine from the factory. The 3-Series is a sedan from the factory first and THEN a performance variant is made. What’s sad is that a GTR is now $120K and lost in a dig race to a $80K 3-Series (also 4-Series).

@@oscareno9052 Well the GTR is based off its own bespoke chassis, a sports car by design. M cars are built up performance cars based on regular cars. So you can't really compare them like that. GTR should traditionally be compared to other sports cars like 911's. But none the less, the GTR is still amazing even though it came out in 07

They're all so close in speed. I just love the Audi styling so I would go Audi for a daily driver. GTR as a toy for sure.
I think u better off with a gtr as daily driver , audi is beautiful but it looks is similar to many modern cars , that gtr is unique and known as the Godzilla , so u ll turn heads gtr : cool factor , reliability , huge aftermarket parts

Also, there is no exterior badging to identify a xdrive m3/m4 comp vs the rear drive versions; so, when you see one out on the streets, there is no way to tell which one you are looking at. Very sneaky BMW. 😊

AMG one not a concept , all cars sold out and u can see vids of test-drives and soon to be on the road early next yr whereas this BMW "1000bhp hybrid" is unheard off. I do love the M5 CS tho. U cant really compare BMW n Merc since one focuses on luxury with added performance and the other is vice versa. However I always say tuned mercs always kill tuned BMW's because the upper end speed of Merc is no joke. The m8 and m6 are jokes because the M5 kills both of them so no point even having the m6 or m8. Where as for mercs all cars have their presence.

Damn Nissan sure is confident with their price. I think this price basically doubled during it's lifespan. Back then it was a no brainer to take it over a 911, but in 2021 buying one seems like having no brain at all.
...yeah I mean in england you can find one for 80 k pounds and if you put even a lutte accessories on a rwd m4 its the same price with that in mind if you really need to buy it 1 st hand than there it makes sense
