Leopold this video goes from describing the water's turbidity to temperature to weather to trying things with no result to finding a reaction and zeroing in on a pattern. "Keitech," is mentioned in passing, while terms like, "spinner bait," "jig," and, "underspin," are emphasized. Matt focuses his emphasis on the technique and progression through different presentations. Other channels spend 80% of their dialogue explaining why brand X is the magic and why I must buy it in watermelon-chartreuse, even though they've never been to my local lake or even region. Matt's method here of establishing patterns will apply on any lake, regardless of what brand lure you use.

This is honestly one of the first instructional videos I would tell somebody to watch. Your emphasis on locating fish and determining their mood is so much more helpful than common tips to "downsize your presentation" or "try a different color". Downsizing won't help you if you're dangling your bait in an area where the fish aren't!

I have been watching this channel non stop for months. After years of being an average fisherman I am trying to step up my game. Me and my son watch videos at home, on the way to the lake and often times while we’re fishing. We learn and apply the knowledge we have gained. We’re doing our homework and it’s paying off very well. Thanks for the educational videos and for helping us improve. It’s making our time together at the lake a total blast!

Watching your retrieve technique when you are fishing and not talking to the camera is priceless. I love the way you tell us what you are doing, but seeing you do it along with hearing you talk about it seals the deal! This is without a doubt the BEST video I’ve ever seen on patterning fish.

Wonderfully done and extremely educational as always, Matt! I grew up fishing as a kid, but fell out of it when I moved off to another city for college. I finally now have the time and places to fish again, and I'm falling in love with it all over. Since it's been so many years from when I used to fish, I decided to not only brush up on my knowledge, but to expand it as well. This channel has been everything I was looking for and more, and I hope to see it break 100k subs here before too long. You guys deserve it

It applies to everyone, from bank fishermen to people who have full tournament rigs. It also applies to novices up through professional fishermen. So I went camping and fishing a week ago. I’ve never fished by myself. After watching a lot of fishing videos over the last year and going a few times with my son different places I decided to try to do some of the tactics I’ve watched. I caught a bass in 5 min. The kids fished all day and I couldn’t believe I caught one just throwing my line out and playing around with ideas I’ve seen. I was so excited and I’m addicted to fishing now. There is a zone your mind goes in to that I love. I think I finally found my niche.

Mat, Fantastic job going through what it takes to think through a fishing situation with out electronics. I LOVE the "thinking" aspect about fishing and you do it really well. Thank you for sharing a professional's break down and nailing the pattern. I have tried to establish patterns but some how get lost in the process which I know is only because I don't fish enough to see the options and make the "correct" eliminations. I will now stay true to my initial thinking and when lost take a few steps back and try again from a different perspective and see if I can do better in establishing a pattern to fish out. Thanks for all you and Tim do to. It matters. Peace.

Matt and Tim, this was excellent and fascinating at the same time! The progression of the logic of elimination to dial in an approach is something I’ve never heard so concisely. Very helpful.
That said, there were a couple of scenarios that didn’t get discussed. What if you hadn’t been bit on the spinner at all? Also, what about no bites on the flashy swim? Do you change locations? Try another color of something? Or, do you feel like, in the rising water scenario, these situations would not likely happen?
Again, thanks as always. Super stuff.

Omg this makes a ton of sense. Changing baits as the depth changes. Based on water clarity and the mood of the fish. I'd like to add. You can also once you find the baits that's working, use multiple baits that look very similar to what that one bait Is to keep the bite going.
