Angelina Jordan is the ULTIMATE PERFORMER, it’s like she is singing for you, and you alone. She knows where that soft spot is within you, and she goes there on the very first note of each performance. She leaves you begging for more like no one else can.
One factor that makes Angelina’s performances so emotional and spell binding for us is the simplicity and intimacy of the productions. I love that Angelina’s performances are devoid of unnecessary, over-the-top and overtly sexualized garbage that dominates the music industry, especially the commercialized pop and top forty genres. Republic Records gets it. Having Angelina in a small studio setting with a piano, guitar and or limited acoustic accompaniment is the perfect setting for her and her fans.

As many Angelina fans have said, if you want to listen to a song, there are many phenomenal vocalists out there, but if you want to feel a song, listen to Angelina. I find that to be very true for me, as she always gives me goosebumps & often makes me cry. Most other great vocalists don't do that to me.
I absolutely agree, Keith. I've listened to quite a few covers of this song, and also the originals by Adele and Bruno. Most are very good, and some even excellent vocally, especially Adele's. But I only cry when listening to Angelina's version. And I do that every time I hear it. And it has nothing to do with her age. When a great actor delivers lines that reach us emotionally, we give them praise and sometimes awards. Angelina should get a Grammy for this performance. One of, if not the Best thing she's ever done.

Angelina's approach when singing covers of Adele ballads will incorporate the essence of Adele, along with the breathy releases she learned from Billie Holiday, and also include 'raw' inflections like 'slurring' certain words and changing 'key' in mid sentence as Amy Winehouse would do. Add in Angelina's own personal style and you are permeated with a 'four pronged' attack to the senses that no individual singer has ever done. It boggles the mind that such a young girl can formulate this intricate style of singing to reach the furthest depths of the human soul like no non-jazz singer, even one as great as Adele, can do.

Thank you for your heartfelt reaction. I've seen you react her previously and can tell how impressed you are with her. Early in your introduction you mentioned you were curious how she would be able to handle a song like this because she's still a kid. I think one of the things that you are unable to describe verbally but that I can help you with is that Angelina has the ability to empathize and understand adults topics that she has never experienced. She takes the lyrics of a song and internalizes them to her soul. She applies those lyrics to experiences in her own life to understand them and then emotes them in her singing. Also the techniques you mentioned such as the whisper bring emotion to the song. The other thing that is unique about her is her ability to adjust her voice tone, tempo, and style to any artist or genre she is singing. She is known now as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices. And speaking of barefoot, do you know why she always performs without shoes? If not, let me know and I will respond back. Angelina's birthday is Monday her 16th. It would be great if you could do another song to celebrate that. There are three that come to mind at the moment and they're all recent. A Million Miles is her own original dedicated to her grandfather who passed away. It is an excellent choice if you want to hear her own work. Very emotional. She also did another Adele song very recently, Easy on Me, and I think that one is as good or even better than the one you just reacted to! Finally she recently did Michael Jackson's Heal the World. That one made me cry and she did it in her own style as always. I noticed a comment by Andy Schnell in your live chat regarding artist support. Knowing what I do about her, I think she probably has learned some techniques with her voice over time going back many years, but I also think she is developed her own style and technique and incorporates techniques naturally. One thing she never does is put on fake emotion. Emotion in a song you can't teach... Not genuine emotion. If you go back and look at Angelina's songs over the past few years, even when she was younger, she demonstrated that ability. For example in the song A million years Ago which coincidentally is also by Adele, you can hear the emotion in her voice and you can see her hand gestures and putting her hands on her heart which is not taught. It is coming naturally. She is a very unusual talent. Some have called her perfectly imperfect. She incorporates things that most standard singers do not. If she sounded like every other young singer on the block I would have lost interest long ago.

Thank you for another grand reaction to my favourite singer. I know it is difficult to understand, but when reacting to Angelina, her age is completely irrelevant. For me, she is the most complete singer on this planet. She has the innate ability to understand the deepest emotions in every song she sings and to be able to communicate those emotions to the listener. If she only did this occasionally, one would rank her with other singers who do so, but she does it in EVERY song she performs. In this particularly performance, the deliberate rephrasing of that last sentence was another stroke of genius and added so much more emotion to the ending.
