- Heavy riffs through the Weber Tone Cvlt speakers as well as a V30 and Swamp Thang.
The Black Shuck is incredible!
Guitar : SG
Pickup : Dragonaut Bridge
Amps:
Orange Rockerverb 50 MKII
Marshall DSL 100 (clean channel) with a Blackhawk Amplifiers Balrog Distortion pedal.
Laney AOR 50 with a SRC Sludge Pedal.
This is one of the best shootouts I've even seen. Thank you so much for taking the time out- hearing these speakers in the mix with other instruments is SO helpful!!!

I hear different nuances with each speaker every time I listen to this through some headphones. When I first heard it, I was sold on the Grey Wolf and Silver. Now the Black Shuck blows my mind.
Killer riff! Killer music.
Long live heavy-metal 🤟 !
This was so enjoyable. The most efficient and effective speaker shootout I have ever seen. Thank you! So many great tonal flavors to devour!
How much dope was applied to the grey wolf 50 watt speaker? and what kind of dust cap was used?
Dire Wolf & Black Shuck, holy shit
I'd have a 100w grey wolf, 100w silver wolf, dire wolf, and black shuck in 4 x 12
Try a Werewolf 15"
@@zAvAvAz I got one in my atlas 1x12, 1x15. Shit rips
@@ETconehome Yeah! i need one. Got a WGS Reaper HP50 to go with it, THen using a Silver wolf and Jensen Nighthawk 75.
Finally some Tone Cvlt clips! Silver Wolf and Bloodhound sound terrific. Would blend one of those with a Black Shuck, I think
Best speaker demo i ever seen
Dude this was solid as hell, great job
This is all any shootout video ever needs. Proper isolation/mix and just getting straight into it. Thanks much!
Rad video comparison! Love my Silver/Gray Wolf combo in my Worshiper cabs, but I may need to get a set of those blood hounds now.
Definetly want the 50 watt grey wolf. Those do it for me :)
I got a pair of Grey Wolf in a 75 watt version. You get to pick your wattage when you order them. Put them in my SUNN 2x12, 120 watt solid state amp. Plenty loud and gritty with an Orange Dark Terror as a tube input to the amp. (The amp can dirty up, but at very loud volumes). I can get a good crunch at lower volumes with the Orange "leading the way".
Did it seem like the 75 watt-ers were somewhere in the middle brightness-wise between the 50 and 100 watt-ers?
Thank you so much for doing this comparison! Been wanting something like this to hear for a long time. Now I know which Weber speakers I need next. :)
Seriously! Thank you for doing this shootout. For such amazing speakers, there is really no samples of them on RUclips. I really like how you give us the V30 as a comparison since it is such a known speaker. In your experience which one of these can do the best clean sound, and then do the best tight heavy fuzz tone? I read on Weber's site that the Gray Wolf and the Black Shuck seem to be the most versatile, but wondered if you could weigh in.
It sounds to me like Dire Wolf is delivering the most dirt. Lol not clean.
2:01 Grey Wolf 100 Watt
2:09 Silver Wolf 100 Watt
2:16 Dire wolf 100 Watt
2:23 Blood Hound 100Watt
2:30 Black shuck
2:37 Vintage 30 60 Watt
2:44 Swamp thang
Would be great to have had a blended demo set too.
Silver Wolf, V30, and Swamp Thang sound best to me.
Damn! Thanks for this. Found it in my phone so definitely going to hop into the home studio and listen on some proper monitors. That Silver Wolf and 100 Grey Wolf are sounding super promising.
Could you do another video comparison? I'd love to hear the differences between Eminence speakers and Celestions
Awesome job! One of the best comparison vidoes ever! 🤘😎🤘
Not easy to find other than the Tom Weber website. LOVE the Grey Wolf 100!
Thanks for the comparison. I really like the 50 watt Grey Wolf. I'm surprised to like the V30 but ime, it doesn't work well for me. I swapped it for a Weber Axis. I think the Grey Wolf would complement my Axis.
Grey wolf and swamp thangs for the win
I can't believe that you missed a beautiful opportunity to mix speakers to get an ideal metal tone. I really wanted to hear what a bloodhound sounded like with the black shuck together
Which Cabinet was used for this Shootout ? The Cab itself has a huge part in how the speaker sounds, so it would be very nice to know that
Whoa! Great video! Thx u a lot
The Silver Wolf wins in every demo I’ve seen of it. Aggressive like the V30, but more balanced and well rounded. It just has a sweetness to it that I keep coming back to.
Man this is how I feel too. I wanted to come in choosing the swamp things. The Silver Wolf/Vintage 30 come out on top for me. I can't tell if I prefer the silver wolf over the v30, or if its just something sweet and new.
@@njgfpv3696 yeah I thought ST and all the other speakers here sounded good for the most part, but the Silver has more clarity than others while still being aggressive. The V30 is king because it works so well with nearly everything amp, but I’d also throw the Gray Wolf in there too. It sounds more aggressive than the Silver but not as balanced. Both are awesome and it’s no wonder they’re paired together so much.
I put two Silver Wolf speakers and two Celestion Creamback H75s in a 412 cab for two Diezels that I own. Best combo I've tried and I tried quite a few.
@@david-no that’s awesome man. From personal experience, how well do you think the Silver works as a stand alone speaker? Weber’s site makes it sound like they’re best when paired with another speaker, but to my ears, they sound incredible. At least in these clips, anyway.
@@thetribalist6923 100% they can be used by themselves. I mean, there are a lot of factors to consider as well. The amp, the cab, the guitar, etc. I've used just V30s by themselves at some point like everyone else and I think the Silver Wolf is just all around better than a V30. I needed those CB H75s for the famous Diezel thump. Otherwise, I'd have no issue using all Silvers.
Sounds like the Grey Wolf is an even more aggressive sounding than the Vintage 30.
I have some 15 watt ceramic and alnico weberss. The Grey wolf with a silver bell is incredible as is the silver bell with a blue dog, used with my vox. But I will build a 4x12 for my triple xxx head using two silver bell 100 watt and two grey wold 100, It will be glorious. I like the tx 4x12 cab but it can be dark I think this one with the webesrs will balance it all out nicely. Great review!
I would love to hear a mix of silver wolf and black shuck!
YO thanks for this.. ive got some V30s, and a Balrog, and a Marshall, and an Orange. Swamp Thangs gonna be the next speakers i buy. Rock n fuckin roll man!
Great video and super helpful. Thanks so much!
You just sold another Gray Wolf, time to start asking commission ;-)
Do you happen to have any details on whether it's the ceramic or alnico version? And what amount of dope was applied?
Ceramic with Pre-Rola dope 💀
Ceramic with Pre-Rola dope on the 100, Ceramic with no dope on the 50.
@@frayleband Awesome, thanks for the info!
How loud would you have to go with a 50-watt head to push 400-watts of Black Shuck? the math around heads and cabs always confuses me. Wouldn't you have to push pretty hard?
A speaker loses a lot of signal to heat in the voice coil. The more watts your push into your speaker the hotter it will get, and if it gets to hot it will “blow” or get destroyed. All the 200 watts means is that you can push 200 watts into it before it’ll blow, so your 50 watt head would work just fine with it. However, more wattage = less speaker distortion and more bass, so keep that in mind.
Best speaker video ever - Legend.
Great shootout, just the right amount of talking, thank you, I listen for the way a speaker (or any component in the chain) deals with the grind of the distortion. Does the distortion sound grainy? Is it smooth, or does it disappear? The V30 here handles the distortion pretty darn well, and that is probably why it is such a standard. Also, the 50W Grey Wolf and the Black Shuck allow the distortion to shine. Whereas the Dire Wolf has rolled off highs, and the distortion doesn't come through as well as some.
The V30s sound great as always. Black and Wolf both sound good
Thanks for sharing, really helpful
The Grey Wolf 50 kills
Been thinking about buying a silver and a grey wolf for my 2x12 mesa cab. Do you think it would play well with a single rectifier? Great shootout! Got me a micro dark today and have been having a blast.
I've been dying for a really good speaker comparison in a stoner doom style. I'm really interested in knowing what yours', and everyone else's favorite speaker combinations are.
Also, I can listen to this riff all day. You should've seen my face when the full band mix kicked in.
I guess I'm boring and think the V30s sound best. Wish they sounded that good when I play em.
The Grey Wolf also sounds great too.
Great shootout!!
So glad I found this video, awesome!!! All my cabs have V30s right now. Nice to know they represent well in this demo. I have been looking for something different and think I just found my new additions... What tuning is that? B std?
Putting a Greywolf in my 85’ Laney AOR 50 so excited... Giddy even
speakers by themselves, to me the greywolf 50w, silverwolf, and v30 sound best. same in the mix. the eerie riff with the silverwolf. i didnt care for the bloodhound, direwolf, or swamp thang in any of the clips. which is weird since i use a swampthang/texas heat paired for my amp. was thinking of changing them out for 2 black shucks but now i'm not so sure
wanna try 4x12 silver wolf X black shuck combo
I subbed when I saw this bands work on another channel.
That distortion pedal sounds like it has fuzz in it too
Very cool!
Damn... looks like I need some Weber speakers...
Cool ! Nice video 🔊
Great video 🤘🏽😎
Thank you for this video!
Have a Grey wolf in an or120 clone, sounds so good
Holy Shiite!
#blackhawkkvlt
bad ass video, thank you
Dumb question but I am looking to get a 4x12 loaded with Ted Weber speakers. I have the option of mixing and matching, so I was wondering if you can do something like combine 2 Gray Wolf with 2 Silver Wolf speakers? Is this possible due to their different wattage? Thanks for the clarification!
That’s a question for the experts at Weber. They are very responsive. Give them a shout. 🔮
@@frayleband Thanks for the response, I will!
What is the setup on the grey wolf 50? Dope and Dust Cap? I want to order one today...but want to make sure I order this one.
Thanks for the video! It is an amazing resource!
Sorry for the delayed response. It says the dust cap is the Standard British on my invoice.
Frayle Band no apology needed. Thank you. This video is awesome
Awesomeness 🔥
Grey wolf 50w is easily my favourite here
MF Kitten same
SilverWolf+BloodHound would be great in one cab. :P
Came here to see how the gray wolf 50 watt goes, think it would pair well with a v30, didn't espect to like the v30 the most tbh. DIdn't really like Dire Wolf and Bloodhound or the Swamp Thang
Interesting thing is I can't find the DB of any of them on the site.
In a mix Rockerverb 50
1:54 Grey Wolf 50
2:01 Grey Wolf 100
2:08 Silver Wolf
2:16 Dire Wolf
2:37 V30
I immediately purchased a 70 watt Grey Wolf. Will never part with it!
70?
@@jaychen2000metal Weber speakers will make them in any wattage you want. It's not an "off the shelf" speaker. And they freakin' ROCK. I'm spoiled, now. I can't find anything better for my Doom playing any cheaper. Currently looking at all the Eminence line. I like it Low and Slow and BLOWIN' WIND!
Silver Wolfs, Grey wolf 50 and V30s
Silver FTW
50 watt grey and silver in a 2 12 cab
🤘🏼💀
Silver wolf and blood hound I think!!!
