    The new Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 is amazing, the M mount version just reached the local store here today.

      M version is f/1.4, isn't it? I can't afford any of them anyway :)

    How does the voigtlander 40mm compare to the Nikkor 35mm f2D and F2 ais?

    Loved the colors, sharpness and contrast of the pancake version but hated the onion rings in the oof highlights (from the aspherical element). Can you please post if the new one also have this issue?

    I own the 28 ultron f2 and idk if I can agree with what ur saying about Ziess. The rendering of this lens just looks a little cheap to me, its great for the cash and if your looking for a cheap alternative on your M mount cameras don't hesitate, just don't expect Leica glass, or in my opinion Ziess glass quality ( sure its not to far off from aZiess but Idk man look on Flickr to get a comparison if interested I guess). Best of luck buying your new glass.

    58mm 1.4 sl2n is epic perfection. Haven't owned the sl2s version. This 40mm looks like it might be joining my collection. But, between the 58 f1.4, Zeiss 35 f2 Distagon & Zeiss 50 f1.4.....do I NEED it?

      58 voigt vs 35mm zeiss is comparing 2 perfections.....thats just tough nuts there to say........
      you can use ANY 35mm for more stuff than any other focal however....................

    Does Voigtlander make these with an EF mount for a 5D? If not, what adapter should I use? Thank you.

    That looks nearly identical to the Nikkor 50mm f2 I have here. You mentioned it but wow! Can't believe they made it look so similar

    You think metabones will come out with an adapter that works with the new Nikon E lenses? What are your thoughts on commlite adapters? Should I go with commlite adapters to future proof myself or wait for metabones?

    • @KenTheoriaApophasis
      @KenTheoriaApophasis  7 лет назад

      i dont know about those adapters :/

    • @corneliusrowe6786
      @corneliusrowe6786 7 лет назад

      Theoria Apophasis as of right now they're the only adapters compatible with the new Nikon E series lenses (with electronic apertures) I asked to get your input on if the construction is good like metabones or will it brick my camera like fotodiox.

    Compared to the real Nikkor manual lens, it misses the small red dot for infrared

    Ken, can you please help me ? my voigtlander 58mm was damaged by impact and now focuses only in range from 3m to inf. (won't go below 3m) otherwise it seems fine (aperture working, image quality seems unaffected).. can you tell me how to fix this at home? how to disassemble/assemble the lens? how to create sort-of dust-free environment at home? thx for any tips

    I found an older one. I like the smallness. It's difficult go decide. But I sence the wisdom of getting one.

    I had and loved the 40mm SLII Voigtlander, it's just not in a focal length I used often enough to keep around. I thought it was great for street photography as its very low profile and most people don't even realize you're taking a picture of them, same with the 20mm & 28mm. Someday I'll buy them again just to have and hold currently If I don't use a lense for a couple months...it goes bye bye.

    I have been looking into Voigtlanders. A bit more expensive than old vintage lenses. However, the Voigtlanders go very wide and older lenses aren't so great in this area but then again, many modern wide angles aren't so great either, just for different reasons.

    Just an unrelated question if you know, Emount lenses are useless if the autofocus stops working?

    • @KenTheoriaApophasis
      @KenTheoriaApophasis  7 лет назад

      no, not useless

    • @greeknick87
      @greeknick87 7 лет назад

      So they can manually focus even if the electronic focus stops working

      Thanks, thinking of the zeiss distagon 35mm f1.4 emount as a long term investment, that is why i'm asking

    I already own the Voigtlander 58mm and it's the bomb. However, is the 40mm a great asset to my collection? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    • @anthonytella4176
      @anthonytella4176 7 лет назад

      Maybe go 35 to spread it out a little more, 58mm and 40mm isn't much of a gap. BUT! if you have the money sure why not.
