Thank you for this video, it gave me some ideas - one of my burners would only stay on if a pan was covering the problem hob. Read elsewhere that the thermocouple head must be in the flame for the burner to stay on (safety feature). Found that the burner ring and cover had a tiny bit of play and would move toward the thermocouple head by maybe 1mm, after doing this the hob stays on fine. Thanks again for the video - I know what to do if I need to change the thermocouple now.
Have been living without the central burner on my five ring hob for ages, and kept putting off repairing it. Eventually decided to deal with it, and turned to RUclips for help. Once I find the model number and source the Whirlpool part, I'll tackle it. Thanks for the clear instructions!
Thanks for this easy to follow video. Removed the cover, used a toothbrush to clean up some of the grease that had built up around the thermocouple and now its working.
Hello Tristram O, your video is very good, explains the problem you have, I also have this problem with my kitchen and I did not know how to recognize the problem, it helped me a lot to understand and what to do in this situation now I feel more confident, now I can already call the kitchen technician and order the work without fear that the technician will damage my kitchen or recommend me to buy another one because the kitchen does not work completely Thanks for your happy day tutorial
Very informative. Have the same issue, same burner, fairly new hisense stove. Im diy too, but my first experience with gas stove. Will cintact the supplier tomorrow and how it goes. Its 3 months new. Thanks.
You really are fantastic. I've just stripped my 5-burner hob down, for just this problem. Lots of grease. Cleaned all the electrical contact faces, and all works fine. Thanks very much.
Same problem here, Electrician quoted something astronomical. Will order the part and fix myself. Thanks for the guidance and confidence. Good clear video too btw.
A year and a bit old and this video is still extremely useful. All the steps were exactly the same for my delonghi 700mm gas hobs. Perfectly illustrated, perfectly commentated. Thanks heaps
Very good video on thermocouple replacement. Wondering if you have any video on why the burner is not igniting. only one burner is not igniting but others are fine
I found that cleaning the thermocouple with fine sandpaper also worked ! Your video showed me what the thermocouple looks like ,I thought the spike was something to do with the spark ignition .
If the thermocouple has become loose and therefore might sit too far away from the flame even by a couple of mm's....the flame might continually be cutting out. Check whatevers holding it in place and make sure it holds the thermocouple close to the flame Mine works now and i didnt need a new one And p.s...you need to clean the protruding metal thermocouples tip with light sandpaper or a scotchbrite pad to remove carbon etc food deposits which will also stop it working properly
Thank you so so much. Just knowing how these things are put together (I have a Nard that basically looks identical under the coveri) allowed me to get inside and clean it up and hey presto it worked without even having to buy a new thermocouple.
Can a cooker gas hob work without a thermocouple. my AEG range cooker large burner thermocouple has gone but the cooker and parts have been discontinued. it is almost new but 12 yrs old. is there anyway i could get this burner to work. i have contacted the manufacturer and they are not interested just said no parts available oaths model.
I need to replace the thermocouple in an upright SMEG unit but can't remove the top, even after removing all the screws from the top and back. I can remove the back edge. Any help/tips appreciated! Thanks
What's wrong cause this thermocouple broken? I also have the same problem and unfortunately it's hard to find thermacouple for my stove, because it has different type from what's on the market.
appreciate your time to make this video, it helped me six years after your posting; cheers ! very well explained.
I managed to replace the thermocouple on my gas hob (of a different brand) with the help of your very clear instruction video. Thanks!
Great video. I've had this problem with my hob since new. I'm now sorting out a new thermocouple to fit myself. Thank you again! 👍
Thanks for a clear video, Our grill is playing up, have ordered a replacement thermocouple and now am confident to do the job safely thanks
Thank you. I now feel confident to open my stove and try to repair ir. Your video is so helpful.
Four years old but still very relevant and helpful.
Thanks a lot.
Kudos to the effort and thoughts.

Superb tutorial , this has given me the confidence to tackle a similar problem on my Rangemaster cooker gas burners, thanks you
Great video, thanks for filming this. I have the same problem with a very similar looking Neff hob and now feel confident I can fix it. Thanks

Excellent tutorial, clear and well explained and I thank you - just what I needed to know.
You really are fantastic.
I've just stripped my 5-burner hob down, for just this problem.
Lots of grease.
Cleaned all the electrical contact faces, and all works fine.
Thanks very much.
What did you use? Vinegar and baking soda?
Ppl , before removing the thermacouple try cleaning it with small grit sandpapper. Sometimes the buildbuid/gunk will keep it from working correctly.
Calm delivery of important information ! Thank you .
Brilliant and clear guide, thanks!
Same problem here, Electrician quoted something astronomical. Will order the part and fix myself. Thanks for the guidance and confidence. Good clear video too btw.
Thank you! Just fixes my hob! In my case it only took to clean those elements with some degreaser - good as new! Fab! 👌
Thanks for sharing, seems fairy easy job, off to fix daughter’s hob tomorrow.
Good luck
Excellent. Thanks for the solution.
Thanks for this very helpful video. 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for that. Saved me hundreds of dollars🤗🤗

Thanks Tristram O, helped me today
Excellent. Thank you for posting.
Had exactly the same problem on a gas refrigerator. Easy (and cheap) fix with a new thermocouple. Access was a bit more awkard though.
Thank u for the video. Im on to it tomoro morning. 👍🏼❤
Thanks - still useful today
Loving it!!
Good job!

very helpful thank you
Thank you, just what i needed!
Great video explains everything you need to know Thankyou
Nice video. One question. The small screw on the thermocouple, is it required to have? My one is not there.
Hi and thanks. My guess is, if there isn’t one on the original thermostat you are replacing then your model probably doesn’t need it.
Thanks for this
Great video, just what I needed. Thanks!
Hey great video can you send me the link where I can get a thermo couple for my smeg thanks
www.espares.co.uk/
Where do you get the spare parts? My caps are also rusty and need replacing.
I used espares but I think there are other companies if you Google it

Try getting a head mount for your camera

Thanks for sharing....
Amazing, thank you!
Thank
Man what the meaning of sharing this tutorial if you never show us how to disconnect the old and connect the new
That video would have been 8 minutes shorter without all the erms 😅😂
too much taking
Technically your all breaking the Gas Safety Installation and Use Regulations if you've not proved competency to carry out this work
Can hardly hear ya mate
Ummm ummm yawn
