I have an ECM Mechanica Slim VI with flow control and I adjusted the flow control so that it will stop the flow completely when in the closed position. Thanks! As long as you remember not to use too much force, it should be fine. You are unlikely to cause any damage with routine use.

What is your pump pressure? Is it set at 11 bars like the factory default?
I have set it at about 9 bar.
