Another thing I’ve done to keep it fun: Keep track of the players that had a good college career, but didn’t get drafted. Make a new character in your dynasty and create them as an OC/DC at a smaller school. Their Alma mater is the school you’re coaching and their pipeline is their home state. It’s sort of like a coaching tree, but with former players. My former 3 year starter was an 85 overall when he finished. He’s currently the OC at Western Michigan (my Alma mater). I focus solely on QB in his coaching abilities.
A few things I’ve done! 1. Take a team builder team from a small conference to a bigger one! 2. Tweak your sliders to make it more difficult (I.e. dropped passes, QB inaccurate throws) 3. This is HUGE, turn your play “cool down” to 7-10. You won’t be allowed to run those “go to plays” until you run enough plays to come back to it! This makes you have to use the entire playbook! 4. Play different positions on defense. Play safety, CB, LB, D-line! The AI reads your mishaps and takes advantage of you being out of position! 5. Use different playbooks or play styles! It takes some time to get used too! BUT AFTER AN 11 year hiatus I WILL NEVER BURN OUT
I agree with all of what you said, I like to choose 1-2 guys a year and user lock with them on defense. Makes the games a lot harder since you can't ball hawk picks a ton. I think I may turn play cool down up I have it at 3
Been there for sure. Would love to see EA do some hard mode or realistic modes or settings you can toggle. I enjoy being the best but sometimes I do enjoy the grind. Glad you enjoyed
This is really good advice for someone like me. I absolutely hate getting cheesed by the CPU, but I've found it more enjoyable in the long term to just let it happen and play anyways. Also, I have no idea how NOT to cheese the recruiting lol, I haven't even really looked at any videos on how to cheese it but last class I got like 15 5 stars, which is obviously way too many. One thing I will say to keep it fun is to have multiple dynasty modes that have multiple "themes". For example, you might have one where you take your favorite team and make it 99, and win every game, giving your coach a perfect record. Another one you would start at a small school and try to work your way up, or maybe you have one where all you do is sim and then try to win based off of recruiting alone. There's a lot to do in the dynasty mode but since we tend to be creatures of habit, we can get stuck in a rut.
Themes are a perfect way to put it. And yes becoming creatures of habits is very normal. As for recruiting I like to put limits around the total I see in real life. So if SMU gets 5 5 starts on average then I will shoot for that. If there is the one player I really want who is number 6 I just subtract one from the next season. Glad you enjoyed!
Love this. I haven’t lost my enjoyment yet. I’m still on the first dynasty that I started the game with (I haven’t even played RTG yet) just tweaking how I play. I’ve been loving the game and don’t see that stopping anytime soon. I hope others can find new ways to play and continue to enjoy it too.
Honestly that last one is key. I don’t touch the game on Saturdays usually, I wanna watch real college football on those days. On Sunday I’m usually trying to observe the Lords Day and relax and read the Bible and maybe watch the Lions or Steelers play but you’ve got to find ways to take breaks and get away from it for awhile. I’ve waited many years for this game so I knew my game plan coming in lol
I agree, taking a break even for a day makes me always want to come back 10 times more than playing it all the time. Sounds like you have it figured out!
The way my eyes darted back from my game to the phone screen when you started talking about NM State!! I’m using them in my dynasty in year 8 haven’t won a natty
I bought the game and have only played 5 times. Maybe it was a nostalgia purchase or something, but I couldn't get myself to enjoy it. I may go back and give it a try now. I appreciate these suggestions.
I appreciate the comment and I hope you can find some enjoyment in it. I’ve found myself in your shoes in other games. But I always try to just play and let myself not over think. The game is by no means perfect but I do think it’s a good step in the right direction for the franchise.
I just go from the worst schools I can go to whenever I’m burnt out from a place I’ve been from kennesaw state to LA Tech and now Middle Tennessee playing against my old teams and building new contenders Is fun to me
Not a bad way either. I like playing defense most of the time personally. I would have put simulating once you get up by so much but it always seems that the CPU becomes god tier when in super sim
Just started a new dynasty and realigned conferences. Big 12 and PAC 10 back to normal. And I then used my team builder team and an imported another 5 schools. Use one of the non power 5 conferences and try and build up the conference over the years
How did you get this to work? Everytime I mess with conferences not the first year but the second year and on in dynasty it's impossible to customize your schedule. I usually end the dynasty right there lol
I have been seeing it be really random. Like some people won't have any issues their whole dynasty and others won't be able to change anything. One thing I have noticed is making sure any conference with an even amount of teams stays with an even amount of teams. That seems to bug out the scheduling when I have tried.
@@cswee123 I think you're spot on I have done my random experiments not sure if true 😅 but if I keep the conferences the same amount of teams that it begins with and just switch the teams around it works but that kind of defeats custom conferences. Then, once I become a successful HC at a small school I pretty much only get OC offers from large schools. Then, when I win it all as HC at a large school, I still just get OC offers from other schools.
Yeah the coaching logic is really confusing. There is a lot of unknown prerequisites you need to meet to get the job. One of the best things I have found is to change your scheme to the team you want to coach. That helps some. The OC and DC thing is a choice by EA in NCAA 14 you were locked out of playing the other side but now you can do both. Also you have always recruited for both which I have never been a fan of.
Now after playing the game for awhile I do full on slow sim games in dynasty. Been enjoyable recruiting players and watching them along with the program grow before my eyes. Another tiny thing I just recently been enjoy doing in my dynasties is paying attention where my assistant coaches go after accepting a head coach job, and always schedule to face off them every year. I’ve had the game a week after it came out and I’m only in year 4 of my first dynasty(4 games into year4) and that’s because I only play it like 2-3 times a week. Also just be realistic if you doing a dynasty. If you choose a one star don’t try to cheese the recruiting by filling ya board with 4 and 5 star players.

Just don’t play that much
In theory yes but some still want to play but just can't find joy when playing
I regret buying this game. This the dumbest football i ever played. This crap is worse than a old Nintendo football game. All these years for this crap. No defense every CPU team has 99 speed. The hit stick doesn't work. The fatigue can't be turned off. This game is trash. I rather just stick to Madden and 2k.
I understand what you are saying. I still enjoy it but what was promised was not necessarily delivered
@@cswee123 They rushed to make it just to get people money and didn't really put in the work to make it good. I still play it because I bought it but man.
You earned my follow 🫡
Glad you enjoyed!
