The problem you mention with the reverse boot up sequence is bricking the current Uconnect overland radio in my Jeep. Definitely something messed up with the boot up process in the head unit of radios and reverse cameras
Hey Jacob, I can tell you, having this unit for 4 years it's definitely a bug that never goes away LOL. For me, I've just learned to time putting it in reverse the best I can. 9 times out of 10 I get it right. But that one time is pretty annoying....

The design has potential. I really wish a company like kenwood or alpine made something similar even if it cost an arm or a leg it would be worth it. My experience with these Chinese android stereos is not good. They just have a cheap feel to them. I'll just hang onto my uconnect for now it's basic but it's still a premium oem head unit for today's standards.
If you had the Uconnect 8.4 I totally agree.
I went this route because I have the 3.0 for my Ram Express... It was a piece of crap.
@@bigdaddyshouse I have the 3.0 and tbh I only had a hard time connecting my phone the very first time i connected it. After that no problems. Its stock n nothing special but it does the job. I've just heard of too many horror stories with those Chinese tesla stereos like the AC acting funny and such. I know there is an american company that makes one for $1k but it's an android same as Chinese idk if the quality would be any better.

I'm definitely not trying to talk anybody into anything. Just sharing my personal experience with purchasing my unit through the manufacturer and not these third-party sellers where the problem seem to come from....
As with anything in life I know there are some people that see what I do with my truck and cringe. Yet others absolutely love it. It's all personal preference.

I got one a month ago for my cadillac and it is otherworldly. I just use the Hotspot from my phone for internet and I can't believe how much fun it is to have this thing. Its literally a tablet in the car. Anyone contemplating this purchase should make it. It also made my speakers louder in the car.

Good question Greg,
The temperature control/AC- heater controls are integrated. The trailer gain and towing buttons stay in place.

Yes sir. it took about 30 days to get here. seeing some of the other comments made on other forms on in I think it was the right decision.
I think especially now there are so many people selling knockoffs of this and it is not the real deal.
Some of the knock-offs have three buttons at the bottom of the basil.
And others also have a 1/2-in black ring, I guess you would call it a basil on top of a basil lol.
Anyway my point is it should be all screened from basil of basil or should be no 1/2-in black area. Because then you could not call it a true 10.4-in screen.
But if you want to get it where I got it from the link is in my description. Plus it'll save you a few hundred bucks getting it straight from the manufacturer.
Just a quick note this was over 2 years ago when I bought mine now they make better models.

Looking to install this, thanks for the detailed vid! Are there any issues with audio lagging behind video? I have manual A/C controls, am I correct in understanding that this will replace the knobs and everything will still work fine?

Yes you would be correct The AC controls will be disconnected along with the original radio and the new Tesla style radio fits into that whole spot. This is how they're able to achieve the 10.4 inch screen by removing the AC controls. The AC controls now work within the radio. (Touch screen style)
I have several movies uploaded to my radio and the sound is synced perfect with the video.

Nice vid thinking about getting one for my ram 1500. Where did you buy it from? I've seen them on different sites for different prices.
I got mine straight from the manufacturer. I researched these things and the different places that sold them for almost six months before I purchased it. wanted to make sure I got the right thing. I have the link where I got mine in my description of this video.
Side note, I am ON XDA and the RAM Forums and can tell you I would shy away from the three button model or at least do some serious research on it before you purchase it. It's not a true 10.4 screen. Anyways that was a lot of words LOL 😂

Helpful vid! Thanks! I have a ‘14 w the tiny screen and analog dash so my radio controls some of my core settings like time for the truck, brake controller strength, and a few others. Do you see a brake controller setting in the options? I’m thinking about getting one of these but I need to figure out how to control the factory settings first. Thanks!
So the way I shot that video you don't see it but the brake controller is right underneath the stereo. You can see it more clearly in this video i shot.

but the AC and heater controls are controlled by the head unit, so those are removed along with the old stereo. Hope this helps Travis.

big daddy's house thanks! What I am trying to figure out is the setting for brake controller like to change it from electric brakes or hydraulic. In some Rams I think it my be changed in the speedometer console but on mine it changed from the radio. I do have the brake controller and aux panel down below so if I just leave it set for what I usually use (electric brakes) when I pull out the radio that might be fine or there may be a way to set it through the odb. Either way, thanks for the help!

I have actually never had to use the heated mirror function. It never really gets cold enough here for it, however when you hit the AC controls it's at the very bottom.

Hi . Great video I also have the express with the four wheels lol. Can you control the factory setting that come on the stock radio with upgrade. Exa: like the beeping when you press the remote 3 times. Or the lights turning off after a certain seconds etc . I notice this setting on the factory radio. And is this the linkswel brand or the other eBay brand. Thx
Hey Winston, so at this point my radio is almost 3 years old. I got it straight from the manufacturer, it's called a Krando. there have been many versions of this made after this, which I would be really careful about buying. Functions for me work as you asked. (In this straight from the manufacturer version)
If you're looking to get this radio I would suggest you get it straight for the manufacturer as I did. I provided a links for all of you guys in my description. It comes from China so it will take at least 30 days if not more to get to you. But I can tell you from my first-hand experience, this this is the way to go.
I know some people have forgot knock offs of this version from Amazon or eBay or other places and have been really disappointed.
So as I always say, do you research and shop smart!

Hey Ross, sorry for the late reply.
You can watch RUclips on it however it will take some work to do it. The RUclips app is not available in the Play store. So that means you'll have to do some research to find out where you can download it another way.
It's not that hard to find the APK file just don't use Google as a search engine....
I found the head unit to suck in general, The GPS Navigation doesn’t work without a WiFi hotspot, Can’t play music through the USB on the iPhone, The Head Unit made all my native stats metric and could change them. This was my reply: Thank you for your reply. Sorry to see you opened an eBay return case.
Please kindly understand that any return case does great harm to our eBay store.
As you said in the return case "GPS for navigation only works on WiFi; that was not disclosed in the description of the product. My metric to US settings work on the head unit, however my native vehicle settings would not revert back to US after restarting vehicle. Unable to play music through IPad/IPhone through USB. Screen is sluggish, very slow responses.
1, Regarding to connect to WiFi to use GPS navigation, we have described that in our listing, please check attached picture. Maybe something was ignored when you placed order.
You don't have to purchase a 3g dongle to use navigation, you could connect to your iphone hotspot and use WiFi.
2, Regarding to metric to US settings, if you have done the setting we suggested, and it still not work, then we are sorry to tell you that sometimes the protocol of car does not match with the unit, so it only shows metric on original dash setting
Hey Terry, I'm a guy who purchased this radio with my own money, no sponsorship no ties to anybody anywhere.
This was my real story.
Sorry you had tons of problem with yours. I however did three months of research before I even purchased this radio which is why I purchase mine straight from the manufacturer. I would never trust eBay on something like this.
Your problem number two is exactly in another video which i did the evic fix.
Now should this necessarily need to be done after dropping $600 on a radio... No. But i love this radio and i wanted to tinker with it to make it work for me.
And to address maps, you could've downloaded the app called off line maps. I use my hotspot and Waze.
I would caution anybody from buying this on eBay...

If You want to give it another shot, you should try My Link in my description. which is straight to the manufacturer before 3rd parties get their hands on it to put on their own software.
How does that launcher work in regards to Apple Play? I have an IPhone and I’m wondering if I would have to switch off the Apple play option in the settings.
Hey Andrew, I've actually never owned an Apple phone. But from my limited knowledge of it and what others have said in the RAM forum, Apple play pretty much takes over. I know there's a setting on it where you can have it not automatically take over.
You can also set carwebguru as your home button on the Tesla style radio. So in that case I would imagine if you're done with Apple CarPlay you could just hit the home button and it would go to carwebguru.
Is this in a RAM or in another car?
I currently have a 2014 1500 SLT. Its got the steering controls and everything. I am deliberating on which would be a better choice for me because mine came with the 8.4 screen and backup camera. I am thinking on whether to get this Tesla Unit of just do a factory style upgrade to a 2018 Ram unit with Apple Carplay.
Julian, I can't help you with your personal choice but the reason I chose to do what I did was that screen is sick!
I still love it. Plus it all apps i use are free. Plus I don't pay Dodge, Mopar or RAM or whoever for anything, using maps or any app or whatnot..
Every person has their own personal preference. This was right for me.
And did I say that screen is sick!!! Lol
I can't get my note phone to pair up through Bluetooth. I have a 13 ram 1500. It won't see each others while looking for devices

@@bigdaddyshouse I will try that but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the radio. Because the radio is not picking up any Bluetooth devices??
Well, if you don't mind starting completely over you can always do a hard reset on the radio. It will put it back to stock. if you've done a lot of configuring on the radio you'll have to redo it all over again.
If the hard reset doesn't work then I hope it's still under warranty for you, so you can send it back and get another one.

I tried one of these my 2016 I bought it from a company called Rhino radios I had nothing but problems with from day one the AC in climate controls wouldn't work The Back-up Camera work but the rear parking sensors would not work I never was able to download a app turn navigation to it successfully and everyone I did download had to constantly be connected to my hotspot on my phone

Can this do offline navigation? As in not having to have a Cell/wifi signal for the nav to work?
Have you had any problems with bluetooth? Mine has never worked and says, "Car kit initializing." Any insight on this issue?
The down fall to all touch screen is if the radio messed up you're screwed my uconnect 5.0 after a battery change is messing up it turns on and works about 3-5 minutes then it shuts off and reboots again i have done multiple things to try to reset it and nothing has worked
Hmmmmm. I know nothing about the Uconnect 5.0. Have you gone to the ram forum and ask for assistance?
Luckily in the last year I have not had any problems with my head unit however I was smart enough not to sell my old 3.0 Uconnect and AC controls. Just in case lol 😂

Well it sounds like you're pretty close to dropping 600 Bones on a Tesla style head unit LOL
if you want to keep the use of your knobs for AC there are other options on Amazon starting around 150 bucks... Probably will you lose your microphone function though and Bluetooth calling....

That's probably what happened. They sent you ran low connections instead of RAM high connections or vice versa.

the search button in the spotify application is located at the bottom of the screen, the air conditioning part does not allow you to see it, what can you do in this case?
Maybe you can help me? I just bought the same unit and installed it. My 2018 Ram has a factory camera installed so it's integrated into the main wiring harness. The radio will not activate the backup camera. I see that the main harness has a backup camera male yellow connection but I connected it to every video input I could find but nothing would cause the rear camera to activate when put in reverse
It sounds to me like whatever company you bought it from provided you the wrong wiring harness.
Did you send them pictures of your dash?
They should have asked for a picture of your dash to make sure you get the right wiring harnesses.

Off the top of my head I would say Best Buy. But I bet any stereo shop would tackle that project.
I installed mine myself. It wasn't that hard. Took about an hour and a half.

So I've had this thing about 3 years now and so far so good believe it or not.
I can tell you since I bought mine there's been a bunch of knock-offs so if you go to order one be sure and do some research.
I know Amazon was selling a few for a while And also eBay.
Some guys in the Rams forum had purchased from Phoenix radios. But they bitch about it nonstop as far as customer service and whatnot.
If you decide to pick one up let us know where you got it and how well it's working for you!
How did you install the steering wheel audio controls? I asked a local dealer and they stated that you can't add them.
Of course the dealer said that......
Dealers are right 50% of the time half the time lol

Needless to say you may or may not have an original unit. PX3 or PX6.

Hey Paul, I bought it about 2 years ago and it cost me $640.00
My system is a P3 but they make a P6 now. It's supposed to be faster and has fast boot where it comes on almost instantaneously when you turn the key to ACC.

and installed them myself.
If you don't want to go through that in depth of work you can always go to a junkyard and pull a steering wheel from a big horn to a Laramie.
You could also find those steering wheels that have already been pulled by somebody on eBay all day long.

What about AlfaODB? Does it work straight from the radio with an ODB Reader? Or do you still have to use a tablet to use AlfaODB?
Alfaobd only supports Android (phone or tablet) or windows based laptop/computer. It does not work on the Tesla style radio. I tried it for fun. No go 😔
What about driving at night with this radio? Does it dim or give an option to turn off the screen?
@@raymae9051 you can turn off the screen by hitting the power button on the top left hand side of the screen. It also has dim settings for day and night use.

Who provides the wifi internet?
I use the hotspot from my phone. Every mobile provider should have that.
You can also get a USB/OSB Wi-Fi dongle from your cellular company. Usually about $30 a month if you go that route and not all cellular providers have it you will have to look it up if your provider offers that.

Why don’t you just buy a truck with heated seats and steering wheel buttons instead of a base truck and then adding the options you want? Seems like that would cost lot more to me to do it that way.
Naah. YOu can get an entire set of leather seats heated and cooled from a wrecked vehicle on ebay for a couple grand. The package to update that is several thousand dollars and you may not want all the features for that package from the dealer. It's nice to be able to pick and choose.
I’ve been happy with mine but my rear sensors no longer beep as I approach something. It’s been that way since I’ve installed it. I have to lines to guide me and the dashes indicating I’m getting closer to an object but no beeping noises. How about you?
I just got a 2015 ram.1500 and it has the knobs for the climate controlls. Does this work with them?
Hey Darrell, the Tesla style stereo actually replaces the knobs.
The stereo itself controls the climate. That's why the screen is able to be so big because the knobs are removed also along with the original stereo.

So my unit is almost 2 years old now. It is, what is called a PX3. Now they make fast foods and PX6's.
but in my personal case I can tell you that the screen cannot be split although it will still play music and or the radio while maps is on full screen.

Bought one. took forever to get delivered and arrived DOA. They said I hooked it up wrong and had me send pics while I did checks. Finally said the logic module was damaged when I plugged in the usb input in the wrong place. Not likely. The unit did not work from the start with only the main harness connected. Now says I need to return it for a new unit. Took forever to get it the first time DOA so I will have to wait and see what happens. The thing cost too much to dump it.

@@bigdaddyshouse I bought it off Ebay from carautoparts-88 . Since contacting them, they had me return the unit at my expense and charged me $30 for a newer model unit to replace it. Later they inform me the stereo will not work on my truck and they would refund my money, even though I sent pictures and description of the items my truck had the first time and it listed it as compatible in the Ebay listing. They had me cancel my return claim saying they could not send a new unit out until I did. They keep telling me they will refund the money, but nothing. These people are scammers and I am now having to go through the process of trying to get my $912.40 from Paypal. Be careful who you buy these from! Personally, I was not impressed with the quality of it and the build was cheap.

You mention 2g x 64 Android 7.1 When I click on link they show 2x64 Android 6.0 or 2 x 32GB android 7.1, 32GB may suffice as internal I am thinking it would be more for songs or movies you load internal yes? I got 2G 64G just in case. I have downloaded several movies to my head unit for my kids. But i feel like 2G of ram is the minimum you should consider for this unit.

Good question Zach. You can add a USB stick for expandable storage if you wanted to but not an SD card. Although I'm pretty confident you wouldn't need it. I have many movies and my entire music list uploaded to my unit. I have entertainment no matter where I'm at!
Yes you can set the head unit to play movies or RUclips or whatever you want while in motion.
Be careful! depending on where you live, it is illegal in the United States. Just an fyi.

Yes this will fit any 4th gen Ram. If you decide to buy one they will have you take your picture of your dash to make sure you get the unit setup correctly and the right harnesses. Mine took about a month to arrive.

Now that's not to say the one button units are perfect because they are not. However if you came from a U CANNOT CONNECT 3.0 like me. Then this is an amazing upgrade in every way.

Hey Carlos, you can see speedometer and RPM. At least with the stock light out that the radio comes with. Now you can download other launchers. (which I have a video on CarWebGuru)

Hey there, I know you aren’t a rep for any company, but I was curious if you could help. I just got a new radio from Phoenix Auto a couple weeks ago, installed just fine no issues, a couple days ago I had an issue with the unit not turning off after vehicle shutdown. I finally got it to turn off but now the unit doesn’t want to turn on at all. Tried disconnecting the battery with no luck, just a flicker of the boot logo and back to the black screen. Any suggestions?
Hey Lewis, I've never not had my system not shut off or not turn on. Is it a PX6? Sounds like it's possibly a hardware problem.

Typically that happens with a loose connection. I would just go back through all the steps you did install it. Basically reinstall.

Hey Nildo, so my head unit is almost 2 years old now. Its the first generation. It takes 45 seconds to boot all the way up. However, the backup camera work right away.
They now have a px6 version of this Tesla style radio. It's also Called the fastboot version. It's instant soon as you put the key in...

@@FX_AnimationStudios I am happy with everything. the only thing that has started to happen lately is the AC is having trouble forcing out the front of vent instead of the floor.
So when I touch for it to force out through the front it takes a while for it to happen and usually just go to the floor.....
Not happy with that.
But I bet an update will fix her.
This is for sure not always just a plug-in play radio you were going to want to mess with it as far as settings wise.

The app I use is called mysms
basically it sinks all of your messages from your phone to their server and you could read / respond to them pretty much on any platform computer or tablet or tesla style radio..... You need hotspot or wifi enabled to do this...

Haven’t been able to send or receive any messages yet. I had high hopes and would’ve even paid the yearly premium but no luck. Does it still work for you? Did you have to have your friends become members? Did you have to contact your carrier for permission?
@@jefferygreen2130 I use the free version because the paid version I think just allows you to do phone calls which I really don't need I have Bluetooth for that.
Mine works just fine you have to have the app installed on your phone and on other device you want to get text messages from.
No carrier permission needed.
When you first install the app on the device you want to get SMS from it is a lengthy process to sync up I think it took about a half hour. You need to have a data connection and or Wi-Fi on both devices you have that app installed on.

I still have my original one installed. It interfaces well with the radio. That's how you transfer files via USB stick.

Hey Jaygeezy, Yes you can mirror your phone to it but you have to download the app for it. When you click the icon on the screen to mirror device, it'll give you directions. I've never downloaded it though. I just downloaded the same apps I used on my phone to the Tesla style head unit and I literally just use my screen as a standalone tablet.
now I have the PX3 so if you're looking at a newer version PX6 I'm not sure how that works. But if you want to ask some intelligent people I'll give you a link to the XDA forum.

@@pkurtz84 the auxiliary switches can be obtained through the Tesla style head unit, but your physical auxiliary buttons will remain.

So you have issues with using multiple apps causing the audio to stutter? I use Apple car play with the dongle and when using Waze and pandora when ever Waze gives me an alert it causes the audio to stutter....or if I go into reverse and my back up cam kicks on it also stutters the audio...do you have these issues?
No shutter for me. However I don't use apple or carplay. I downloaded everything I need straight to my radio so when I fired up it has everything my phone has. Plus I'm an android user...
It's kind of a bummer because I know with these radios if you have an Apple phone you kind of need that dongle but anyone using an android phone it is a waste of money...

@@P2Feener305 nope. It's always ran smooth but i do have the 2G version.
The only time I've had a problem with it being slow is when I had a weather widget on my home screen. It was trying to update in real-time and really slowing things down.

I think I will give it a shot..I also have the 2g ram...seems like not enough some times..I use my phone as a hotspot or connect it with the dongle...and it’s like the head unit can’t keep up sometimes..causes my audio to crack and stutter. I will try the CWG and report back..thanks for the feedback.

What Android version you have and how many sec does it boot up when turn on the ignition
It says it's 7.1.1 but I just learned its really running 4.4.4
It takes about 45 seconds to boot. But I almost never see it boot cuz i have remote start and it's already booted up by the time I get to the truck.

before this whole covid-19 thing it took almost exactly 30 days for it to hit my doorstep. For me it was worth the wait, knowing that I was getting a product from the actual manufacturer that had not been messed with by any third-party people.
Just to let you know this was almost two years ago when I ordered it.

Like I tell everybody, do a little research. I know these radios go for an excess of $1,000 on Amazon. I ended up getting mine straight for the manufacturer and I paid $640. Yes it took over a month to get here but it was totally worth the savings.
But even at that price, it is still the most I have ever paid for a stereo.
But 2 years later, I'm still happy with it.

So the answer on that is no. At least not the way you're thinking of how satellite radio works. To get Sirius XM to work on this radio you will need a 3-g dongle or hotspot your phone, then download the SXM App from the play store and stream it.

Have you had issues with the parksense not making the beeping noise? I have it turned on in the settings and set to loud but it makes no nose when I get close to something.
I don't have parksense on my truck. I have an Express.
However funny enough someone asked that same question today in the ram forum and it was answered by somebody who had parksense and they said it does not work. Hopefully they'll come out with an update for you guys soon.

Yes. Downloading apps from the play store will require wifi. Also any app that requires wi-fi to run will need it.
There are many things that work perfectly fine without the use of Wi-Fi connection.
Play music from your phone or making phone calls via Bluetooth works just fine.
