I love Robert Cray; saw him live last year. But he got his start in the 1980s, and is therefore not an OG like BB King or Buddy Guy, who were around when blues transitioned from acoustic Mississippi Delta style to the electric Chicago style. No disrespect to Cray--dude's amazing.
If you're a blues fan I want you to think about something. If you listen to Kingfish's albums, he doesn't sound like any other blues player I have ever heard. He mixes his blues, funk, rock and jazz lines into his playing. I don't think I've ever really heard a lot of blues guitar players (if any) ever do that. He's one of the few modern guitar players that when I hear him play on the radio, I can immediately tell it's him. We really need to cherish him because he's something special in the guitar community.

It's impossible to put into words how much the Strat and Buddy have impacted my life. Blues is not so popular here in Moscow, but there are great enthusiasts, and I am among them. Great to still see Buddy out, on tour, playing.....one of the guy that brought the electric guitar to the world of blues and eventually rock and roll...
I am 54 and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. I am very lucky to say that I have seen Buddy play at least 20 times at his previous location as well as many other venues. Never once was a bad show. One time his mic wasn't working and after the second song he yelled to the crowd, tonight will be all instrumentals and you come back next Sunday for free. He drank a glass of cognac between every song and played the shit out of his strat!! My favorite experience was when I saw him and Junior do an acoustic set at Legends, they recorded it and it is Live at Legends 1989. I am pretty sure Junior was a little too drunk that night, he was in the wrong key on one song and couldn't find the right harp, but they were awesome!! Buddy and Junior Play the Blues is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Love you Buddy!!!
I am 62 from the south suburbs of Chicago. I had the privilege of being at Legends on the night Stevie Ray Vaughan visited the club back in 1985. The performance he and Buddy put on was truly exceptional, the best I have ever witnessed. They traded licks and seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. I have had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Guy perform many times over the years, and from the first show I attended to the most recent one, he consistently delivers an outstanding performance to his audience.
Words can't describe how lucky we are to have this, and to still have Buddy with us. Legends at work, together in the same room. I grabbed a Buddy Guy Strat last year or so and I'm so glad I did.
I wish the video didn’t end, Watching Kingfish playing next to Buddy reminds me of so many great players that stood next to Buddy and played, SRV, Albert Colins, Albert King, I am very proud of Kingfish
I was fortunate to see this man back in the day and was once privileged to sit right up front in a bar downtown Austin, Tx watching the great Buddy Guy and it was incredible. GOD bless Buddy, an American treasure!
My son stood on that stage and jammed with Buddy during his annual January residency at Legends in Chicago this year, I am so thankful Buddy is still here, sharing the blues and inspiring young blues musicians, like the incredible Christone Kingfish Ingram, to keep the tradition alive. We’ll keeping sharing the Blues Buddy! Thank you @fender for a great video
Listen to Bluesville on satellite radio. There's some great stuff coming out right now. I don't mean okay music. I mean really good blues music. Tinsley Ellis, Toronto Cannon, Chris Cain, Kingfish, Mike Zito etc.
Buddy Guy is kind enough to have Blues Jams at his club in Chicago. Some of my favorite memories was playing there on Mondays/ Wednesdays. People from around the world would travel there to watch or play on that stage! Thank You Buddy Guy! Thank you Greg Guy !
Gotta believe, that there's a real happy man, walking on this planet!!! Thanks Fender, for attending to our request!!! These stratcats, deserve this reverence, and show us why!!! Congrats!!
I got the pleasure of seeing both of them at the Kenny Wayne Sheppard festival concert in Bethel NY last year one of my absolute favorite concerts I've ever been too so happy got to see both Buddy Guy and Cristone Kingfish Ingram
Two different generations of blue players, but both a national treasures. Love listening to their music. Looking forward to seeing Buddy Guy on his last tour. If you are in Chicago, Buddy Guy's Legends is a must visit. Saw Albert Collins work over his tele there one night - a night to remember!!!!
Nothing will ever come close to the electric bluesmen who knew the source like Buddy, born on a cotton plantation hearing the remnants of slave chants But i do love to hear ppl like Kingfish try to capture that spirit
@@debomb721Kingfish is amazing. He plays like nobody else. He mixes jazz and blues lines into his playing. I've listened to the blues all my life, that kid has it 100%. He grew up right there in the poor city of Clarksdale. If you're ever in Clarksdale, ask the people about Kingfish. He worked hard as a kid playing in clubs humping it just like all the older ones did. Yeah, he didn't grow up on a plantation or anything like that but that doesn't change how good his music is. He's probably the best guitar player that I've ever seen live and I've seen them some of the best in the world.
Big props to Buddy. That man made records with my "White Boy Blues Heroes". This guy 0:31 did more for the blues than you can poke a stick. He's still shaking it. Good for you Buddy. You won, man.
I still can’t realise how I’ve been able to play with both of them on main stages. I’m so thankful to you sir Buddy Guy thank you for inviting me on stage with you in Paris in 2018 and motivating me to continue guitar. Oh that was wonderful. No backing band needed, just two great soulful musicians and their tools of choice. A powerful demonstration how the Blues are bridging the gap between the generations.
I saw Buddy live back in 2016 at the Portland Waterfront Blues festival. He brought two 16 year old guitar prodigies with him. Christone Kingfish Ingram and Quinn Sullivan. It was about 105 degrees that day, but the real heat was coming from the stage when those boys played a guitar duel that seemed to go on for about 15 minutes. I've been a huge fan of Kingfish ever since seeing him live 3 times since then. If you ever have a chance you should absolutely see him live. He plays like Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I may be another drop in a sea of guitarists, but this drop is grateful to this man, Mr. Buddy Guy, for both introducing me to the Blues and the guitar to play it. So, 4 Strats on the rack and a heap of inspiration from Mr. Guy, I'm in Blues heaven. Thank you Mr. Guy, and thank you Fender.
Musicianship is about many things, but the one thing beaming from these guys' faces is respect. Respect across the generations. Respect of the craft, of tradition, respect of what the other cat is doing. Who cares if they're selling some Strats in the process? Gotta respect the hustle, too.
Many moons ago, South Carolina Festival - Stopped for Gas, Show across the Street for Free. Buddy and about 200ft of Guitar Cable....that area has never recovered from the Showmanship that evening. I saw and felt the Legend up close and personal....Liquid.
Saw Buddy Guy this last year on his tour. Absolutely fantastic. Telling stories about BB King and giving me a blues history lesson while absolutely shredding. Hes one of the true greats left. If I have any advice its go see him while you still can. 100% living legend.
It is a custom shop polka dot over a three tone burst….sweet piece. You’ll notice the neck looks like it just came off the factory floor but the body is relic’d.
Buddy's style is one of my favorites.. the man had such a fun playful way of picking those strings... Im glad I got to see him last summer... And Kingfish, keep going brother. You're well on your way.
A legend and one soon to be legend right there! Guys like Kingfish give me plenty of hope for the future of blues. Nothing like some strat single coils through a Hot Rod or Twin Reverb.

Love this. “You can’t beat a Strat. You can beat it, you can scratch it, but you can’t stop it from playing.” A damn fine description. My Stratocaster is built like a tank. It flew twenty feet into the air because my friend threw it on accident when he swung it over his shoulder on my lawn. It landed headstock first, and only needed a neck tweak back straight, but was still in tune. Even though it was lawn, the landing would have snapped the headstock off other brands but not my Fender Strat.
I was truly blessed to have seen them both perform last summer in Central Park. Prodigious in his craft, Kingfish Ingram is the perfect vessel to carry on the blues legacy❤❤❤
I'm thankful that my time alive has loosely coincided with the lives of three guitar players: Buddy Guy, David Gilmour, and Malcom Young. Buddy's music has been with me since my earliest days of listening to and appreciating music. When my friends were listening to Zeppelin, Kiss, & Black Sabbath, I was listening to Buddy. His album Sweet Tea is in my Top 5 favorites of all time.
Thanks very much for this, Fender, enjoyed it very much. It's made my afternoon over here in East Africa. Blues Music breaths life into life, Blues Music is life. A big round of applause for Buddy Guy and his generation of Blues Musicians, and a big round of applause too, for newer generation Blues Musicians such as Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 7th May 2024.
Buddy makes me smile inadvertently and the smile doesn't go away till the videos end. Ever since I started caring about the blues, I began to regard him as super dear to my heart. His stories are so special, too... as if my own grandpa is taking me back in those times! I promise you that I will always play the blues and keep it alive in me, at least, till my last breath. I can't ever thank you enough, great man. Love and best wishes, my hero! 🎸❤✌️🎸
Buddy's been an inspiration to generations of players. I was privileged to see him live once and, even more than his presence and playing, I was struck by his extraordinary voice. Love you Buddy.
I was blessed to see B.B. King and Buddy Guy play the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville during their 2007 tour. B.B. was singing and playing seated by then, and Mr. Buddy Guy was an absolute Gentleman who supported and respectfully carried the show that night. It was sad seeing B.B. like that, but it was still one of the most special concerts I’ve had the privilege of attending. Buddy Guy is the epitome of classy cool! If that doesn’t sum up the Blues, I don’t know what does. Long live the Blues! Fender deserves kudos for helping to keep the Blues alive by focusing on the young ones coming up like Mr. Ingram. This is the 70th Anniversary of the Stratocaster, and they have some amazing Strats on offer.
I'm on blues since a young boy. I bought a Muddy Waters record when I was 12. All the old blues and I had all the southern rock and rollers. I grew up good on music. Buddy Guy is a living legend.
Same here my friend. I love listening to Bluesville on satellite radio. There's some really great blues music that has came out recently. The blues definitely isn't dead.
Saw kingfish in saint louis Michigan and knew greatness when he lit up the stage in the first few seconds. Buddy is a musical inspiration! Glad these two get to play together.
Yeah but is you fretboard maple or rosewood ? Have a couple strats,ok more than a couple 😂 but the brightest one I've got is an old 20th anniversary Squier strat body with an old Japanese Squier neck with rosewood and it's the best sounding, playing and best looking strat I've got. Maybe the 500k pots make it bright or maybe it's the alnico 3 magnets !?
There is no one I love more in the music industry than Buddy Guy! An incredible man with even more incredible talent. What he has is truly a gift from God. Hopefully the Lord allows us all to keep hearing this man for as long as possible! What this man has done for the advancement of blues music is incomparable! No one more deserving of praise!

Goodness his voice even better as he gets older.
Nothing like the real deal playing a real deal. Often imitated but never duplicated.
I love both of these guys! Great artists! 70 years of awesome Strats! ❤
It’s So Nice to see Buddy and Kingfish playing together 🎸🎸🔥🔥
It's always nice when some of your faves come together
Buddy is my Hero , Kingfish is a Blues Hero too 🇮🇹
Buddy makes me smile inadvertently and the smile doesn't go away till the videos end.
Buddy still got it. fantastic! respect.
Buddy….the last of a long line. May a new generation of TRUE BLUES rise up….keeping hold of the old….and carrying it forward. 🎸♥️💪🙏
I had the Pleasure to Tour Europe with Buddy, I toured Europe with him & Phil, his Brother in 1982,...
Good to see Buddy Guy still killing it, good to see Kingfisher here as well.
This was incredible. Old School with the New School putting it down for the Blues Culture.
I'd like to personally thank everyone involved in making this video happen. Excellent!!👌👌👌 Greetings from Switzerland
Saw kingfish in saint louis Michigan and knew greatness when he lit up the stage in the first few seconds. Buddy is a musical inspiration! Glad these two get to play together.
Been woodsheddin' Buddy Guy (and Luther Allison) licks for years. Saw Buddy in Kansas City a few years ago. Love this guy.
Wow this is powerful. It’s so amazing to see these two chat and enjoy each others presence so genuinely. Special moment
I've seen Buddy many times he is a great showman. Anyone with a soul will appreciate this video!
Living legend with great company
Both their neck pickups are just too sweet and clean, that's how my Strats play and I wouldn't have em any other way... kudos Buddy and Kingfish!
@auntjenifer7774 you'll find 500Ks in the Squiers and 250Ks in the Fender.
Played in Cincinnati last night - amazing show. Buddy Guy is a national treasure.
