My Mom loved her Singer Sewing Machines, from the time she was given one for her birthday turning 12 till decades later. She had five Singer Sewing Machines.
God Bless her!
Wonderful how much story they could pack into 20 some odd minutes!
Good story. Merle Oberon is remarkably beautiful. Thanks for posting this little gem.
Merle oberon ❤️ iconic and one of best the actress of this world and so beautiful ❤️🌎
Singer sewing..back when it costed Less to make your own clothes
Not beautiful nor most talented
Very nice. One of the clearest postings of this episode I’ve seen! Thank you!
Beautiful Merle: Thank you.
The episode is awesome, but I must say the commercials are really good! Imagine, making your own wardrobe! Wow!
Such a lost skill now. It's a shame.
For ones not inclined towards sewing, there were seamstresses. To have a personal seamstress was special. Rare today but my mother helped support the family for decades by sewing in the home. She literally wore out a couple of Singer sewing machines. Not easy when they were built so well - made to last.
Good twist in this story, I did not see. Great story!
Thanks for posting these. This singer playhouse really is a snapshot of a past lifestyle, 1954 where women actually made the clothes they wore. And the sewing machine was this pretty hi-tech tool for the time. The whole corporation was big with a consumer and manufacturer market...and they had that beautiful building down on water st. In Manhattan until "69....and this cool program.
Women were making their own and their family's clothes, and other home accessories, long before Singer came along.
@@adamnoman4658 do tell. You're amazing.
Love this episode and merle oberon!!!
Love Merle Oberon and June Cleaver as the other woman.
Excellent
I love these old playhouse series but man I wish somebody would shove the curtains open and shine the light in my face while I'm asleep no matter what time it is. You'd be going out the window along with the curtains and the sewing machine.
😂😂😂
Putting your videos on playlists would be helpful. Then I could actually find something to watch!
This is an absolute beauty
I wonder what kind of compact car Merle drove to the cabin, a Volvo maybe? Cute as heck!
From the boxy-body and trim to the logo, it looks like a 1952 Plymouth, but I couldn't find one with that particular grill. There was also the problem that Plymouths of that year had split-windshields, except that I happened upon a photo of one with a single windshield. But this is my best guess.
Back then "go to the cabin" mostly meant trouble ahead.
😂
Thank you!
I kind of like this one 👍
Barbara Billingsley playing on the wrong side of the law. Eddie would have loved this.
"Next week, see 'THE AMOS 'N' ANDY SHOW', over most of these stations."
Good show, even though I'm not at all an Oberon fan.
So...Charles Boyer is the inspiration for Peppi la pew????
Did you catch Boyer's guest shot on "I Love Lucy?" It's hilarious.
June Cleaver playing a divorcee. My my my.
Nothing was, or is, sacred to the faithless Hollywood tribe.
And you know what they say about them there divorses 🙂
JESUS IS RETURNING SOON!
ST JOHN 3:16! ❤️
Love GOD back! ,🙏🏼🙌🏼❤️
HALLELUJAH! ✝️❤️✝️
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge."
Hebrews 13:4!
WOE!
Martha? Doesn't suit Merle at all... it caught me off guard that Beavers Mom was the love interest. ❤
I've seen some wonderful episodes in this series, but this one is shockingly bad, bordering on silly. The husband's acting is unconvincing and Barbara Billingsley is flat. Even Merle Oberon couldn't lift this production.
